This is by design. Intelligence is considered a negative atrribute for police officers as it means the officer would more likely question orders. Natural attrition weeds out the rest so you are left with a police officer who loyally and blindly follows and has a enough understanding of legal process to do what they are told, effectively autonomous foot soldiers. It doesn't matter if they screw up, there are 10 more grunts queuing up for that job. Stick an above average brain in that mix with enough legal understanding to know what is permitted and all hell breaks loose, this kid basically destroyed this whole group and got one fired. If cops did their job correctly we probably would be more calm and accepting of police. However, they suck straight up. Education and procedures are different from department to department and they expect to be treated like gods and when there is any push back to what they say they get aggressive and do illegal actions towards civilians. Thanks for the update. It’s good the PCPD held these Officers accountable and has required more training for the whole Dept. When Police Departments investigate themselves and find “No wrongdoing” and wrongdoing has clearly occurred, it reflects badly on them all. Force them to kick your door down if they want you. It will raise the standard of probable cause and exigent circumstance when you have your day in court.

Same, for whatever reason this makes me more scared. Maybe it's the POV and how big they are, and the tension because they haven't attacked him yet--when you see the brutality it's already happening. Here it's rising, not there yet, and scary.

If you believe you have a civil rights violation case, you can bring it to the Canadian Human Rights tribunal, and if they feel that you have an actual civil rights case, they will represent you without cost. P.S. They're still "constitutional rights" in Canada (you don't have to refer to them as "charter rights"), as the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was put forth as part of the Constitution Act of 1982

Not entirely. The fathers reaction when police were at the door was wrong imho. He behaved like an asshole and started off by refusing to cooperate. What if his son is effectively driving reclessly and without the proper licence? He teaches hes son to get away with wrong behaviour and to not take responsibility for his actions. Atleast the man could have had a normal talk with the officers. After that part ofcourse it all went bananas and the cops are 100% in fault on how they (mis)handled the situation.
