No Arsenal transfer window, from 07-13, was ever complete until Wenger uttered the following “when we get Diaby back healthy it will be like a new signing”. Aka building the Emirates Stadium cost too much, so unless we buy young players (Nasri, Rosicky, Ramsey, Walcott) or undervalued vets (Eduardo, Santi, Arteta, Nacho) on the cheap, a fully fit Diaby is the best I can offer. If only Stan Kroenke & the other owners cared enough back then, maybe Arsene would have got 1 more league title or his coveted UCL trophy before leaving in 2018.
@ragnar70235 ай бұрын
The job Wenger did from 07-13 is the most underrated in history. Competing for all titles, just falling short (and in a lot of cases bad refereeing). Imagine how well he could have done with a budget like current managers

@iceice0000 lol, kid. Haha Standards didn't drop, tactics changed, but if you think that this City team, who are current holders, couldn't compete with best of the best ever, you are just plain wrong. You can only beat who you have in front of you, and as I said, reaching 3 finals in 6 years is admirable for any Era, any team, period.. As for Chelsea winning it,let's not mention history, where you had teams like Red Star, Dortmund, or even Liverpool winning it as these winners with all their star power at time couldn't even resemble those of their competitors. Winning champions league has never been easy, and if you think it's "easier" today than it was 15 years ago you are mistaken. Old man ;)

In 7 years between 2005-2012 English clubs were in 6 Finals but... won only 3, i guess that's why that Era is remembered as the Spanish Era instead...simply because of Barcelona and Spain's All Conquering Ridiculous Squads and Titles to show. I think if Ferguson could have been backed like Jose at Chelsea he could have won all the Finals he lost in that Era. Man UTD 2011 Squad was weak and if you look at their performances in Europe after that you won't be surprised, in 2013 against Real Madrid they gave their all and a little bit of World Class players like a Lahm or Xabi Alonso they would have beat Jose's Madrid.

Three of the last five CL winners are not only English teams, but three different English teams. Two of the last five CL finals have been all-English finals. Six of these 10 final spots have gone to four different English sides. They are once again dominating Europe. Way too many people confuse individual teams with overall league strength. No other league provides this much diverse quality in the CL in recent history. England have put 4 different teams in the final in the last 5 finals. That’s as many as Italy, Spain, France, and Germany combined in the same timeframe. From an English representation perspective, it’s a shame liverpool shat the bed domestically last season. I think we all predicted United and Newcastle would struggle to make it out of the group stage this season.
