@@lethaface9883 I love this game but even I can see what's needed. More content mainly and more progression and less Gacha. There are many things FS can implement to give more playability to long term players. More mission maps and special events - how about boarding action on ships? Or missions to that rumored second spire? More of the storyline progression More levels than 30 More skill tree branches More classes More free skins that are not just recolored or re-combined free skins but maybe something else. More of the weapons ( i.e. the Meltagun, the Bolt Pistol, Volkite Guns -if we get a Tech Priest/Skitaari class, a Power Fist for Veterans...) A skill for Dual Weilding Then they can remove the blessing & perk locks to reduce the gacha system to only the Stat rolls for weapons. The thing keeping players playing is not really eternal grinding but the immersion of missions where you feel like you're actually in the Grimdark. More enemy Factions... (Other chaos factions, Genestealer Cult would be so awesome) Pvp? I mean if it can be implemented in VT it would do even better in DT. A publised timeplan I think about all of this are things FS have been thinking about and even planning for. But then to retain players they should release a rough timeplan so we know. So yeah, FS could do this to retain players, even increase numbers. The core game and look & feel of it is awesome, no need to change that.

The storytelling was great, and I think it needs much more recognition. What the game needs right now, more than another map or weapon is a great story. It showed with the good feedback the karnak twins provided, it showed with all vermintide's history.

Seems like its having its own rough launch unfortunately.

Is this a well thought out comment? Hell divers has a procedurally random map with a few biomes and no real dialog or story or cinamatics going on. Dark tide is a narrative horde shooter every step of the way and you feel like you are actually doing things with effect and consequences.

Leaving aside the conversation about map diversity, I don't think I've ever felt like there was a meaningful narrative in Darktide. Its a cool game with great set pieces but narrative?@@bengonzalez5215

@@bengonzalez5215 Oh yeah I remember those couple cutscenes in the first day of playing each character... It's the same maps and same objectives every single match, there are no effects or consequences for completing things other than my RSI and arthritis getting worse. 2000 hours in and nothing has changed except I have developed an irrational hatred for the NPCs in the Mourningstar.

Any proper cyberpunk themed story is a tragedy. It only seemed right.

I love this game, obviously, but I think its fair to point out that the playerbase has cratered again and its not just because Helldivers came out. Its because there hasn't been content in a quarter. It's a live service game that only provides occasional updates in 3 out of 4 quarters of the year. I mean that's not precisely true but its true in the sense of no major updates for 3 months. Yes 13-15 were bangers. But niche is where we landed.

"Pulling double the playercount" of a 6 year old game is not an impressive feat. Doubly so when one considers how much more popular 40k is than warhammer fantasy. Darktide's player count on steam is back down to below what it was this time last year. It's not good no matter how you look at things.

Helldivers certinly didnt help and yeah Fatshark is to blame here, im just saying neiche does not equal dead.@@Reginald-sc9tk

Some of the best gameplay of any game yet some seriously bad decisions hold it back for sure.

The RNG hell especially and slow drip-feed storyline. FS needs to unleash its' full potential, it has so much of it.

@@cavc1979 Despite all of that Darktide is still the best 40K Grimdark FPS game made. So if we want to play in that setting there's no alternative. Could FS do better? Sure. Do I hope they will improve? Yes. Is it copium? Yeah, I guess so. Sometimes that's all you have.

Its not fully dead, just dead in spirit. It can be saved but right now it feels so empty to play it. Unfixed audio bugs from 3 months ago aren't helping.

thank you for your video. i’m seeing this trend from some of my favorite creators, touching upon the pressure of nihilism but more importantly channeling that into what they are passionate about. i hope you are doing well.

I appreciate the things you said here and you're right about that. I am working to drive at things I am passionate about and I am pleased to hear you're doing the same. But there is also a sense of ennui and nihilism in the culture that is juxtaposed with a sense of potentiality. I dunno how well I captured any of that, or what a player might feel at 3AM

God Emperor willing we actually get a NEW tool instead of just another mark. Unfortunately the pace for DT is too slow to retain a thriving community after their botched launch. Shame too because the core of the game, barring crafting, is wonderful.

Oh yeah, no kidding. *New* weapons are really important to add at this point, considering we haven't gotten anything new in over a year now, and even then the two that we got were only for two of the classes. Who knows, maybe they'll be able to pull a Cyberpunk and claw Darktide back into relevance, but until that happens, let's just hope they can somehow pick up some of the momentum from where they left off from with the Orthus Offensive. @@Reginald-sc9tk

There's a mod for HUD removal and a mod for camera free flight but I had to mod that mod to allow me to move my character with an independent control scheme.

@@Reginald-sc9tk Ah, okay. I'll have to look for those. Several months ago, I was looking around for the keyboard commands to remove the HUD, but it looked like there wasn't any. I had kinda given up, but now I'm going to give the mod a try.

Yes I agree it's the best state it's ever been, with almost no bugs anymore and the player numbers are still twice what it had at its' lowest. But it could be 10 times that, like it was on release. Let me be clear, I love this game. I'll play it until they close the servers someday, with bots as company on missions. But it's so much more fun if there are real human players to Co-op with. Darktide is the game that got me back into FPS games. It's 40K with a real Grimdark feel to it and simply so beautiful environment you tear up sometimes playing, the few times you have a free moment to enjoy it. Just as this video shows. Reginald gets this, he's the same as me in that regard. And yet, FS still hasn't done the things so many have asked for and removed the blessing locks entirely. Are they waiting for the game to actually die first? Then a year later announce that "no, please come back players! We've removed the locks for you, no more gacha. We even added the full storyline from Abnett!" And I'll be there alone at the gate, for a final mission. Reginald and me maybe. Maybe you too Guilliman1990, but not any more so we'd have to play a game with a bot, a final game. Ironically I've finally been able to master dodging all the nets like a pro and it'll be a last epic mission, a clean perfect Damnation plus run. But I want it to be years and years from now. Not is say 6 months or 12. It's just musings for now, at least for me. My server has people on it even at night still, though I might have to play a different mission or difficulty to find teammates really late at night and it is a sign. This last day will come someday and too soon if FS runs the game into the ground. The Gacha of crafting is ok for me to stand it I guess, but it puts off new players too much and they stop playing. If I was in charge i could just fix that and then release a schedule so the fans know when to expect what. I'd also make new color variants of existing purchasable skins and make them available from completing a specific mission. Not much new work for FS, just a treat for players who don't buy every cosmetic. I mean I buy almost all of them myself but many don't want to or can't put the money into doing that. Add more branches to the skill trees, this can't be all that much work. I like to suggest things that aren't. If I was to indulge in a bigger vision of changes it would be adding a Tech Priest class and Genestealer faction enemies. That would be glorious. Will we ever get that? I don't know.

I've been with DT since before day 1 in the beta, through all the ups and downs. At this point it's not enough, plain and simple. Hoping it can one day bring me back.

Depends on definition. The precipitous player decline and lack of any updates for 3 months despite being sold as a live service would meet one definition of dead. But as a business product im sure its fine and will eventually see some life again.
