The RX-4 is really a beautiful car. I like this old style of Japanese cars. Never seen an RX-4 before. The first and especially the second generation of the RX-7 has been popular here in Germany. I can also still remember the 2nd generation a lot on the road when I was in my early 20s. Always wanted to get one, especially the convertible. The third generation was a very rare sight. I heard that the rotary engine at the NSU Ro80 was actually better than its reputation. The NSU dealerships simply decided whenever there is an issue then they replaced the engines - but checks at the factory were showing that the engines weren't as bad to replace them. So even for some minor issues they replaced the engine on warranty which simply broke NSU's neck in reputation.

I bought one new in 1974 I believe. Had it for several years and it was really fun. It would rev to redline in a heartbeat. There were never many of these around even back in the day. This was when I lived in California.The most popular rotary engine model in California was the RX2. There was also a rotary engine pickup. Sadly, the engines which were the most interesting part of these cars, was also the most problematic. Rotor tip seals did not last long, and the cars required expensive repairs before too many years. The design of the engine also caused them to use lots of fuel for such a small car. Don't quote me on this, but I think that mine had a small 4- barrel carburetor. To0 bad that the design could not have been perfected because they had far fewer moving parts than a standard piston engine.

Yeah !!.. loved these Mazda RX cars Kiri bro.. and the Mitsubishi Colt Galant GTO/ GSR ..awesome motors and a real drive in days when affordable Japanese sports cars were still on the market.. before people realised they were freakin' awesome and the prices went up like a skyrocket !! 🚀 Great review my friend !!

Felix Wankel from NSU Ro 80 has built the Rotary-Engine. Mazda made him better, however, poor fuel consumption and poor emissions remained
