My Katahdin ram will shake hands like a dog. Since he is our herd sire sometimes he gets a little protective and will not play nice. Enjoy this fun video of him trying to headbutt me and eventually me having to run away.

@@lazypondfarm I’ve been dropped a few times by the little buggers. Growing up we never seen them without the bone crunchers. Most rural people try to keep some protection on their livestock. But most of our meat works (abattoirs) won’t process any animals with horns. Worker safety

I got a pair of vembur sheep of 3 months. Today they are almost a year and the female gave birth too. The ram suddenly changes mood and attacks. Once a lady got her hand fractured. I searched lot how to stop this ram attacks. Though strong stick is fine for a one year old, I'm sacred when it becomes above 3 years. One of the remedy I tried is to pull from it's leg and make him on his back and our legs holds it tight for a minute or two. It works, but suddenly after some days, it attacks again. What's the best way? Tie him forever or se him?
@lazypondfarm3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you can never really break this habit. 😕 The best option is to keep him in a separate pasture and let him in for breeding.

I wanted to find a video to see how a domestic sheep could kill or injure someone. A young women was killed by one that repeatedly rammed into her and I couldn’t believe it. Now I see that the males are just as dangerous even if they don’t have any horns. Can’t take dealing with any domestic animal for granted.
