One of my most common questions is: When should I start using anti-aging products to prevent premature aging? To give you a time line on the best time to start an antiaging skincare routine, I filmed this video.
If you just want to know what is reasonable for your age group, here are the time stamps:
Adolescence - 1:35
Age 20-25 - 2:23
Age 25-30 - 3:17
Age 30-35 - 3:56
Age 40 and above - 5:43

@selinamakeup4217
@selinamakeup4217 5 жыл бұрын

I couldn´t agree more, which is why I featured it from the absolute beginning in the routines. The only "skincare" I do use on my kids as well. I just wish I had been better with it back in the day. Were you always good about applying your SPF?

I'm 24 I started using grenactive retinoid because of acne problems.. I never had problems with my skin as a teenager.. I should say I'm happy I got acne, because otherways I would never know retinoids are so beneficial. I'm happy I started them at 24.. I suggest people don't wait til 30, because you can't start with the strongest at the first. If you start early, you can start with something which won't provoke negative effects and work your way up without worrying you are late and you should use something strong.
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 4 жыл бұрын
That is a valid point, however I know a lot of people that start with prescription due to acne and do not need to work their way up - if you are careful, you can introduce Tretinoin with minimal irritation. But yes, you can of course start earlier than I suggested.

This is great advice, thank you! I feel like I'm very behind - I used the clinque 3 step a lot when I was younger but only recently started moving away from that and only just started using serums last year, so I'm definitely behind with what I should be doing. Got the sunscreen part down though ;) Especially on my face!

Sunscreen is the most important thing, so great that it is already a staple. The rest can be build up over time, no need to rush it, especially with sensitive skin.

Another good one Anne!!! I have to ask what your thoughts are around devices like the nu-face etc ... how effective do you think sending an electrical current? Impulse? Not sure how you'd describe it ... into the muscles of the face ... do you think it could have any repercussions on the body? Etc ... Keep making great and informative videos! Thank you :) Xx
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 5 жыл бұрын
I haven´t looked that much into these devices that I could provide you a thorough answer yet. But Mr. Loca bought me a NuFace for my birthday, so you bet I will do my research and get back to you!It is a current, a microcurrent, and it is not strong enough to actually cntract muscles, so I don´t think it affects the rest of the body. I have seen results on bloggers I trust, so I have high hopes.

I am 20 right now i follow as i have the following problems 1. acne scars 2. milia under my eyes 3. Blackheads on nose I am using otc products for active acne, but kindly suggest some chemical exfoliant that i can use once a week. As well as a antioxidant serum.
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 3 жыл бұрын
If you have active acne, I recommend seeing a dermatologist rather than experimenting with otc products. That out of the way you are most likely already using a BHA, which is a chemical exfoliant to help with blackheads and acne scarring, and against the milia I recommend using less oils/ rich products in that area.

Hi doc, I am 39 with clear skin type but now getting lines under eye ( sagging) and crows feet. I wanted to understand how to use vitamin C and Retinol / Niacinamide in my routine. Vitamin C in the morning and Retinol in the night ? Where does Niacinamide stand in this ? I only use Estee Lauder's ANR right now as I'm new to skincare. I know I'm late but it would be great if you could help me with suggesting how to use the above asked serums. Thank you

Hi Anne, I think I may have a unique case, my skin is generally fine but I developed dynamic wrinkles just under my right eye. I believe this is due to an insect bite in my sleep (maybe a bed bug) which resulted in weird SCALY skin for about a week in that area. This was about a year ago and since then I've noticed wrinkles that have gradually gotten deeper. Do you think the insect bite could have damaged my barrier from its poison? Thank you! x
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 4 жыл бұрын
I dont think it is a barrier problem, but maybe it was a prolonged inflammation? Usually insect bites dont really cause these kind of problems. Did you treat it with a specific cream or product back then, like a steroid cream?
@elharrop
@elharrop 4 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorAnneThanks for your reply, I probably should have used a steroid cream but I didn't want to bother the Dr with a cosmetic problem as I didn't think it was that serious at the time, if the wrinkles are a result of past inflammation is there anything I should use outside of my normal skincare?

I don’t think there is anything extra you can do now, just keep the area extra hydrated.
