@@Fredcat11 It's not too difficult to slide through one cuff if you're small. I used to do loss prevention and I needed to get small handcuffs because regular ones were too easy for skinny women and teenagers to squeeze out of. The small ones were impossible to get out of.

Sanchez was actually still alive and conscious when he was pulled from the car, he survived the trip to the hospital but died shortly after arrival. I don't know the entire extent of the internal injuries, but both of his legs and lower abdomen were completely crushed in the collision.

If you watch the uncut footage from the crash you can hear him making random noises that are probably because of the extreme brain damage the crash caused him. These noises turn into gurgles as his lungs fill with blood. He could have been alive but i don't think he realized whats happening as he was probably braindead after the impact.

I’m not sure what level of consciousness we are assuming, but from a massive traumatic crush injury like that. His Spinal cord would have been decimated not to mention immense shearing forces to all his organs. He would have immediately been in spinal shock and most likely had no awareness of anything upon impact.

@@kalyka98 i imagine it would only be good for getting you to a transition spot (where you change the form of pursuit or change your method travel). in the "stolen cop car" situation, their best bet would be to go to a subway or some other area where they can disappear in a crowd or have many different options for escape. considering the subject of the example just stole a cop car, they shouldn't be too squeamish about going into the sewers

Yup, these cars often have a backup immobiliser system for situations like this. The issue with American cop cars is they have so much equipment onboard that they often have to be left running.

I bet that 2nd officer is never going to hear the end of that one...putting a known car thief in the front passenger seat of a running patrol vehicle. Huge blunder. I'm a former LEO and I never understood why other cops would leave their vehicles running, unattended. For the most part, I'd be sure to, at least, lock my vehicle if I left it unattended, if not shut it off and lock it. We did have an officer get his vehicle stolen once on my shift and I didn't want to be **that** guy.

Don't watch the full video if you found that disturbing. They cut the part before he's pulled out, it's horrific I can still hear the death sounds, I've seen a lot of full uncut dashcam and I've never been so disturbed as I was with this one. I would say the "pull his legs" doesn't represent 2% of the horror of the full video.

For exactly situations like that, enter the vehicle and start a pursuit / drive to a call immediately instead of tingling with keys. And even more, they often leave them running, due to battery drainage due to all of the police electronics.
