Podcast is Called : ASN Humans Are Space Orcs , HFY and other stories
--------------
This Story is Classified as HFY or Humanity Feck, Yea , but what does the Mean?
-------------
HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.
-------------
Taken from the FAQ of the r/HFY subreddit.
Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

For future reference nobody uses flamethrowers anymore because white phosphorous grenades do the job more effectively and are safer to use. And you can hand them out to everyone. Mirrors have to be absolutely flawlessly made and dirt free to reflect a high power laser, unrealistic for a military vehicle. You'd need to use ablative armor for that.

It was entertaining enough but yeah, it could have done with a proof-reader or two. 🙂 But the word is "cost" as there is no such word as "costed." "Cost" is past and future tense in the one word, with qualifiers if disambiguation is required. "It cost us dearly" = past tense. "That will cost you" = future tense. Interestingly, present tense is often "costs", "costly" or "costing" rather than "cost". One more thing: I don't bother to criticise anything I don't care about. Just the fact that I bothered to correct you means that I liked the story. 😚😉

Only if they treated the tips of the spears in the punji trap. NVA used to smear them in waste to cause infections, which is technically bio-warfare. Since there seem to be no civilians in the area flame throwers are also legal. Depending on which nations are involved, landmines may also be a violation but all the big nations that would be involved in space exploration didn't sign that treaty anyway. As far as I can tell, no violations.

Never fight an enemy on their own terms! Always do the unexpected!
@nightrunnerxm393
@nightrunnerxm393 11 ай бұрын
Ah, but sometimes, the most unexpected thing you can do is to do precisely what you are expected to do. After all, surprise in battle is what happens when you misinterpret something you've seen in front of you all along. Although realistically, the biggest strategic problem here was that the xenos got so overconfident that they failed to truly understand their enemy. It's also a noticeable human flaw, overconfidence. Sun Tzu put it best, I think. "Know your enemy as you know yourself, and in a thousand battles, you shall never once be in peril."

In my opinion, Sir you are the best, number 1 of the many other's who have tried to narrate stories of their own, or those of others, and just don't have your style or abilities to make it come to life. So you are the best in your field of telling stories, like the bard's of old. So please good Sir continue with your excellent work and making such stories come to life, I salute you 👍 and hope you can keep doing such fantastic job. You should maybe create a video class for those who would like to learn how to be a effective story teller. Of course they should pay for the chance to learn from the best of story tellers, break it down into a series of videos ether online or available on DVD, and there are some who could benefit from your teaching. Keep up the fantastic work and I hope you enjoy your self and your family stay safe. @@bennood2031 HFY is basically supposed to be the opposite of the "Puny Earthling" trope where humans are supposed to be helpless primitives in the face of an alien threat, where the aliens are better at everything. It's the author (and hopefully their readers) taking pride in some aspect of humanity, Occasionally, "Humanity F*ck Yeah" devolves into "Humanity, What the F*ck???", which is basically where the author wanks humanity in such a morally reprehensible way that they (usually inadvertently) turn humanity into the bad guys of the story. Like genociding entire alien races because of what any sane person would regard as a minor social slight IRL.

So i enjoyed the story. But what is a tress? The only thing i found on google was talking about long locks or curls in longer hair. And i really dont know the connection with the story.

It always mystifies me, how FTL capable civilisations, neglect to develop their infantry. I mean , its not that hard to spot a man in a jungle, not with tech aids. Bullets live trails, their trajectory can be calculated, their point of origin determined. These xenos were using plasma weapons, but no shields! Its almost like they were equipped to lose ! Assuming they were using super heated plasma discharges from their weapons, their best bet would have been to fire the jungle! Burn everything , leave the enemy no refuge, hunt down the fleeing units. What do they care about trees, in some isolated islands ? Burn everything that can burn, force the enemy to an open battle, you can win.

Depends on how wet the jungle is. If it was just deluged by a storm it would be too wet to do anything but smoulder. And why they neglect their infantry is interservice rivalry. When one arm "wins wars" for you you tend to neglect arms that aren't "effective". Its their internal politics getting in the way of logic and reason.

During the Battle of Britain one fighter pilot said, "It would be good if we could destroy every plane in an attacking formation" to which another replied, "No. We want to let one go. Badly damaged, with all the crew except the pilot dead, and him coughing his lungs out dying at the controls after he lands. So they can see what happens."

Vid feed of the the slaughter is effective, a single sole surviving frigate full of xenos returning with their uniforms and pressure suits verrry " soiled ", jump at the slightest sound and the mere mention of the word human makes them shudder and look over their shoulder is much more effective as a deterrent.
