Are the Bombers finally back? They might be hard to trust but the evidence from 2023 and early 2024 shows real change has taken place. They are set up to not only make finals but crack a top 4 finish in the home and away season.

From a bombers supporter who’s 23 & never seen a final win :( but something about this year we look so much fitter and determined to win! I really do believe we shouldn’t fall off like every other year! Might be getting ahead of myself but this really looks like the group that will win

For your sake I hope you are right. I'm an Essendon supporter, but I have seen the better times. There is a different feel about this side and we gave a healthy list which really helps. They have a tough run home, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Fingers crossed

You make good points. It's a bit funny that after all of the efforts from the AFL to expand we've had a Richmond dynasty, flags to traditional big Victorian clubs Melbourne, Geelong and Collingwood and now Essendon and Carlton are entering their premiership windows.

Essendon play a couple of decent games this year and all of a sudden they are in the premiership window? yeah nah not buying it.

@@Duriel321 I should clarify: they are nearly there. I think it’s unlikely they do it this year. Most teams need a bit of a rise, falling short, becoming tested and then going for it. But there’s no reason Essendon’s list wouldn’t be ready next year even. Players in their prime, good cohesion, clear strategy.

Cant fault John Worsfold. He was a great appointment for where the club was at, at the time. Though Ben Rutten was a wet blanket. Gotta love the board for going with Brad Scott and not folding to the Sheedy faction of the club and going back to Hird.

55 bloody years I've had a love hate relationship. Those Sheedy Years were pretty special. But like what your saying bro, and like what I've been seeing, but I'm gonna remain sceptical, I wish I could be more confident. As you said let's get these next few bigger games out the way and see where we stand. 🏆

I think Brad Scott had done great things for the bombers and I think they will do well this year. Looks like their player want it more

The problem people have with trust in Essendon is since 2011 they've apart from an elimination final defeat in 2016, either stayed down the lower end of the ladder or had sat in the top 4 halfway and then lost most games to finish 12th or something. Even though they sit 2nd their percentage is weak and that's consistent every year with Essendon. I'm an Eagles supporter and it wasn't until 4 minutes left on the clock and 35 points in front of Melbourne I said "yes they're going to win". So you have to forgive people who are sceptical about Essendon 😊

The fact that they Essendon only play 5 sides the top 8 yet apparently have the hardest fixture makes no sense to me there’s 13 games left! I think the media fk’d that one up.

Round 18 1988, dermot brereton ran through the bombers 3/4 time huddle and kissed bomber Billy duckworth on the lips. Classic moment in footy history, derm was such a character. Even as an essendon support born in the 80s I got a lot of respect for derm, at the time he would have been very hated but I liked his style
