A kid I was a nanny for had this superhero activity book. One night he asked me to read it as a bestime story. Lucky for him, I like comics and superheroes, and I could make up stories with the pictures in it... It became his favourite bedtime story book, I forgot how many nights I "read" it. And luckily I remembered what stories I made up! His dad didn't have that imagination... I remember hearing one night the boy asking him to read it to him, because yes, it had stories, I had read them to him!! 😂🤣😂 Gloria with the magazines reminded me of that kid... 😅

@@briescobar8927 Jasleiny needs to be the best cousin ever to Michi, the goth kids were always misunderstood among the parents but the best ones to talk shit with and crack jokes with at the functions. She'd probably introduce michi to Demon slayer and all the comicon goodies and make sure she gets what she never got as a little kid growing up with Gloria.

My Mom didn't intend it but she was a bit of a boujee. Mom had a difficult time getting used to my wife, Pilar. I met her in college and it was a very fast courtship. I'm Irish- American and Pilar is Castellana from Alicante. It was interesting watching Pilar completely ignore Mom's disapproval when Pilar would take over the kitchen while visiting. Pilar: "You have huevos, right?" Mom: "I have Eggs but..." Pilar: "Great! Even better, here!" *Thump* Pilar drops a bag with a pound and a half of almonds on the counter and proclaims, "We're making Almendrados, tan suprema!" Dad: "I like her."

@@bleehh You have no idea. Latinas/Castellanas have a fiery spirit anyway but she's a little extra. One of the commitments we made to each other was to be open about who we are and we use that as a way of disarming disapproval from other people. I had a similar experience with her Father and we became bros. My mother passed before she got to understand Pilar's overflowing enthusiasm and love.

If she's from Alicante, she's technically not Castellana. She's Alicantina, surely, as well as Valenciana (in broader terms) and Spanish/a Spaniard, but definitely not Castellana. Only people from Castilla (whether Castilla y León or Castilla La Mancha) are Castellanxs. But no worries, we in Castilla love our neighbors in Alicante and the whole of Comunidad Valenciana! They have the best oranges, almonds, and of course, they gave us paella and my personal favorite, horchata! 🎉😁

@@luciahoneybee Thank you for commenting. I love talking about her. I love her very very much. I've never met anyone like her. She uses Castellana a lot because the people where we live in the US often confuse her as "Mexican" if she says "Spanish." She also claims Castellana because her mother is from Valladolid and her father is from Segovia and they met at The University of Valladolid. They moved to Alicante for his work and she was born there. Her family's regional definitions are complicated. She picked up some Catalan in her teen years which kind of rubs her mother wrong. She thinks its funny and she's taught me some phrases to lightly agitate Mom. Yes, the oranges and almonds are out of this world! She puts almonds in almost everything and will use or sprinkle almond flour in a variety of recipes. She has some strange cooking customs like she'll personalize a dish for me and use specific herbs, " hierbas para su amante." (she learned that from her mother). After the engagement was announced her mother sent her a package with some herbs and other "wedding items" including a pretty piece of olive wood and some Novenas. I'm still learning her customs and we blend everything.

😂 when the girls were little we always packed had cheeses, meats, and olives for picnics and called it a grownup lunchable and then charcuterie boards became a wide spread thing and BAM we were boujee and we didn’t even know it.

Pretty sure what her hair isn’t naturally is blonde. I remember throughout the videos, it’s an open secret that Gloria isn’t a natural blonde, and in the Mother’s Day Flashback video, we get scene of Gloria with how she prefers to remember herself with long blonde hair in a ponytail, only for Abuela to pause the video and use 1980’s VCR magic to rewind Gloria’s hair back to its natural color, which was revealed to be black like Jasleiney, Flor, and Michi’s.

I can't wait!😂 I had a tia Gloria. She was so Boujee. I miss her but boy did we try her patience when she was alive lol! She taught us that we should be better than what our ethnic background was. Omg, I had an Aunt Jeanne who was sooo much like that!!! She was always trying to rise above being born to an immigrant (Dutch) mother by having the latest 'classy' things when the rest of the family was still working class. She did have a tv though but timed her kids on use of it.

My impression is that it implies "new money" or "status" "fancy living." From the word Bourgeois. Pilar (my wife) and I have made some money and managed it so we have resources but we try not to show it. I'm Irish-American and she's Castellana and we met in college. We have an apt in Spain but it's shared with my brother in law. We have a home stateside and we definitely have tater tots. If Michi was over at our place it wouldn't be a half an hour before she's covered in flour or dirt. She and Pilar would be attempting to make homemade poptarts or playing in the garden. She has a goal of surrounding the house with a two foot ring of periwinkle and she keeps transplanting and encouraging it. Michi would go home repeating, "Cada gallo canta en su muladar" ("Each rooster sings on its dung-heap" meaning, our true nature is revealed around family and friends.)
