My best friend currently lives in Tampa and I try and go there every year to visit. I am amazed that she and her friends know how to get around the streets so well. Often times they tell me not to talk to them so they don’t make the wrong turns. Sometimes we’ve had to go all the way around just to get where we need to go.

My mom kept doing that to me. Told her to get a hobby and a life and accused her of being too metiche. Then started pointing out all the times she went out with friends which is twice as much as I do. She stopped. 😂

When I was little and playing outside my grandma was always like "you're always in and out, opening and closing the door, letting all the flies and the hot air in." Like "I'm using the bathroom, I'm eight and I need to pee all the time! I'm getting a drink of water! I'm getting a toy!" and then when I stayed inside she'd nag at me for not going out.

My abuela accusing me of being callejero when her marido- my abuelo- during his youth lived in 5 different houses, frequented bars, diners, el local mercado, the local panadería, a city gym, his local city soccer team & club, nightly dance parties, the city malecón, different colleges, three jobs, and still managed to visit abuela at her and her parent's home. I forgot to mention that he was also a taxi driver in a city the size of Los Angeles county + Oakland + Chicago + New York City + Houston Texas + Hillsborough County Florida + Miami County called Lima Perú ¡pero que tan ironía!

My abuela was like that 💔🥲! Everytime when I told her I was leaving she was like: "pero bueno, qué es esto? Un hostal? Que no te veo el pelo". Her village was 6 streets and there were 3 shops, 3 bakeries, 2 bars and a pharmacy. I don't really know If going to the pharmacy was considered partying for her. Anyway, I miss being her callejera 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

Ugh.....the memories are flooding back of when my Catracha mom used to think I didn't do shit when she would come home from work to see me chillin' in my room, even though I was done with my homework...and when I was still doing my homework by the time she would come home from her trabajo, she would give me shit about not having my homework done early. 🙄🙄🙄🙄😒😒😒😒

Delilah hadn't been in a video in so long I was afraid to ask after her 👀 (And how perfect is it that once Abuela knows Chuchi's going too, _callejera_ suddenly becomes plural) Plus, who knew Abuela was a secret comic-book geek? Truly a woman of hidden depths. The reference to Dixie Highway makes me think of an old song from Dave Barry's only CD, in which he explains how driving down that highway gave him the idea to write a whole song about Miami drivers on the I-95. Maybe this can work for someone else, with my grandma when I'm going out I just ask : "hey I'm going out today, do you need anything?" and she'll most likely say something lol if she says nothing I just say "Okay, if I see something nice I'll let you know alright? Have your phone around!" - case closed.
