Back out hiking around the White Mountains this weekend. Took a trip to hike the 5 mile Gordon Pond Trail. After a bit of confusion as to where to park for the start of the trail I found a spot on the side of Sundance Rd. The start along Mountain Side Rd seems to now be all private property.
I started about .5 mile up the trail, went down to almost the intersection with Mountain Side Rd and then back tracked and continued on to Gordon Pond.
The trail is interesting as there are multiple snow mobile trails, possibly old logging roads, and other spots that make navigating at least slightly confusing. Overall it was enjoyable, very low elevation gain and even when there was it was quite easy.

Full disclosure - The links in this description are more than likely affiliate links. This means if you click on one of these links and make a purchase I make a commission from that sale. As much as I love money, I would highly suggest giving yourself at least 48 hours before any purchase decision and asking yourself “Do I really need this?”. I hope more times than not, you find yourself saying “I Definitely do NOT need this”. If you find yourself still in need, shop around and find the best deal for your money.
Please note that I am not recommending any of the gear seen in any of my videos. The gear I use is what I have found works best for me at the time period I am using it. I have come to these gear choices through vast levels of trial, error, and experimenting with gear out on trail.
Gear, clothing, footwear, etc. are not one style works for all. Do as much research as you can, try out things in person if able, and make the best informed purchase decision for YOU. Do not buy gear just because it worked for, was showcased by, or recommended by someone on KZfaq

Welcome back for another season in the Whites. The parking that is blocked off use to be where a restaurant was for a very long.

Chris!! Sooo glad you’re back at it! We missed you man! I’m hoping to get out on actual backpacking trips myself this year, winter included. I tried doing a trip on stratton in Vermont on the first weekend of April when it was really hot. The trail was 18” of icy snow with water flowing underneath so i bagged it and stayed at Jamaica state park. Did some nice dayhikes around there. Really good stuff here! Take care and we’ll see ya in the next one. NQU

I remember doing this trail. I started by cutting through the woods from someone’s driveway into a power line right-of-way where i found the trail 😂 was a super weird start

So that is the spot I was looking for, the turn to go up that road is where i saw the sign saying no trail or no parking. When I walked down toward that road from where I started I heard chainsaws and people and decided I didnt want to investigate any more haha

Love your videos. I have problems finding trailheads on a good day. Last year on the way to Pierce Alltrails took me to the middle of a street where the directions just ended. And how is the new job?

Nice to see you back out there. Kinsman Ridge Trail is brutal enough - to blaze your own trail would make it extra tough!

I need to finish the section between north kinsman and canon mtn. I heard that section is interesting

@@ChrisGoesOutdoors Interesting is one way to put it 🤣 It's no more rugged than the climb up South Kinsman over to North Kinsman. I did it late fall with it all iced over...fun times! If your doing as a day hike I recommend taking Hi-Cannon up to Cannon and Kinsman Ridge back over to North Kinsman...makes a nice loop.

Great trail - I think it's helpful to a lot of hikers to see trails that are less than easy to follow. It happens in real life way more than it should and youtubers tend to edit their videos to look like it's all smooth sailing. Highly recommend winter hiking - there is no "start of the season" and no end of the season. Get out there peeps! Don't wait for perfect weather.

Agreed. Thoroughly enjoy the winter stuff but haven’t been able to really do much of it the last couple years. The new car will hopefully help that out. I’ve had some major issues this year getting into parking lots with even a few inches of snow
