@@naterim5029 I guessed you gonna bring up Sci craft and hermitcraft guys but look what's the difference: Redstone on hermitcraft is really not that crazy only a few people have a decent skill level and etho is first on that list. In Sci craft is something I dont need to say much as its something really different. Thats server's whole purpose is to be efficient at every redstone project and to challenge the limits of the game at survival. Etho isn't really interested in any of that server goals so you shouldn't compere him to a any member of that server like that.

I don't really think he's less relevant. In the earlier days, there were not a whole lot of KZfaqrs, but Mindcrack was there and hence it was super popular. Now, although, there are a lot more MCYT, he's arguably more popular as a member of one of the top two SMPs but still hasn't changed his style. He's only been growing not falling.

I think you missed someone really important- GenerikB. He founded Hermitcraft and played on it for its first season. however, he got bored of it and decided to not participate in the second season. Later, when it grew more popular, he tried to return but the hermits decided they didn't want him back. he was also a member of Mindcrack

While I usually watched the other members of the servers he was on, he always did have interesting projects going on that kept the game interesting. It's fascinating to me now how long-term survival playthroughs have now become the thing people like to watch. The exact thing that was not what we were all watching a few years back Someone asked Lewis about how he felt about the decline of The Yogscast, and he said something along the lines of "We had out time in the sun, and I'm just glad we all enjoyed it" Another minecraft youtuber that might be worth looking into is Direwolf20. I watched him before I even made this youtube account (I had his channel bookmarked on the homepage of my iPod Touch 4 and I'd click it everyday) and he's had a son in that time who's a few years old now. He's only showed his face maybe 3 times, and has pretty much never stopped making modded minecraft SMP videos. Also bascially every single video (barring DireNews and other random ones) are between 30 & 40 minutes

Etho's regular view count has *always* (since like, 2012) been in the hundreds of thousands though. I don't think there was a single episode of his main let's play to get less than 300k views within a week of uploading. It's just that he uploaded less at one point, and also the hermitcraft series is his most watched series of all time. Although I'm just going by memory, so I could be wrong.

I think when you are over 21 years old and still are/and/or become a fan of Etho, it's stuck forever. Because he has a very honest style of presenting videos and good humor to accompany them. So whatever he does, it's almost like listening to a podcast. ps: Not that you can't be a fan of Etho if you are younger than 21, I'm saying cause there is college/job life, etc for most the 21-year-old ppl (there are more reasons to not follow his videos)

One older Minecraft KZfaqr I remember was "TheMinecraftMuse". He did some minecraft tutorials earlier on, before moving to lets plays (including one of his most popular series, Muse Farms) and even ran a survival server for a while that I remember playing on for a bit. Got into his stuff through my cousins, and quite enjoyed it. He eventually moved onto a second channel, called Spumwack, where he did other stuff (including at least some Minecraft stuff, including a second season of Muse Farms), eventually moving to Fortnight (IIRC) and later reaction/comedy videos (it appears) before apparently just abandoning his Spumwack channel as well. Dunno if he's still around anywhere at all.

ItsJerryandHarry and JerryVsHarry have so much potential because of their unique humour and their broad skills. Unfortunately, I also got disappointed because they decreased the effort they put into the videos. While JerryVsHarry has been uploading constantly, they no longer put out all the previous series they did and just made Build Battle videos with clickbait. The worse part is that they are stuck in 1.8 and seem uninterested in the newer versions. I with a couple of viewers pressed them into trying out 1.16. They did do a 1.16 speedrun but that's it. They went back to Build Battle after that. I understand that they focus on KZfaq video quantity to keep their server running but I am still hoping they do something new. I may give up on them anytime soon.

The yogscast never really slowed down, they used their success to shift business, they now run a fairly substantial MCN with 37 members. A few others that haven't been covered yet are YouAlwaysWin (probably best known for SurvivorCraft a game show style series based off of the TV series Survivor, Skyblock style maps, mods, etc.) MeatWagon22 whose half the duo of YAW (when it comes to Minecraft Meatycraft probably stands out) TheOnlyBentley a friend of the former 2 I mentioned and like the former was once part of NextGenTactics (probably best known for MageLife and ModLife and being really chill) those 3 used to be my favorites because before Minecraft they were part of a Call of Duty channel called NGTZombies and would play custom made Zombies levels, and after they had a falling out and switched to Minecraft I watched their stuff until around 2015 or 16 then stopped because everyone stopped Minecraft around then, I looked last year and all 3 still uploaded but I'm not sure how they're doing. Lastly how about GameChap and Bertie? The dynamic duo with funny over exaggerated fake British accents?

The Yogscast was my childhood. I remember watching Shadow like it was the coolest thing ever. I didn't have the game so watching other people play just made me upset but with how they set up Shadow with the story and plot I was able to watch without being jealous. Then I finally did get a laptop and Minecraft but they had started Jaffa Factory, my laptop was a potato so I couldn't play Modpacks myself. Etho said at the end of one of his world tours. "My subscriber count hasn't really changed for several years, but the age of my viewers are much older. It's as if my audience is growing up with the channel." Paraphrased off memory. It's bittersweet. Some people grow big fast and fall faster. Etho grew fast, but with his content, he had no chance to fall- only to stop growing. Maybe for the better.

Yogscast was the real deal back in the early days of minecraft. Heck, I could still remember their lets plays and song parodies and usually come back to check on them. You can really see that a single change of trend can be a huge impact on youtubers within the early trend, causing their downfall, but some continue to stand strong regardless if they lose subscribers or views, some even rise back up and continue to increase. To them, it’s all about the fun of making content, appreciating the loyalty your followers have on you.
