I am a “Mormon” and enjoy a lot of your posting. However, a Mormon would not limit the nature of God to the biblical reference such professor made. A Mormon’s strongest argument would be evidence (in other words, revelation, and actual witnesses). We call them prophets and apostles, just like in biblical times. We will also invite you to receive your own personal revelation of the truth. This revelation of truth usually comes a little here and a little there, until the light is like at noon day. On That day, there will be no room for doubt or denial for any of us. Peace and good will to us all!

The problem with mormon doctrine is it denies the deity of Christ just like satan did in the garden.... Satan said did God really say??? Doubting God's word..... Joseph Smith said You've imagine And supposed that God was God From all eternity, but I will refute that idea and take away the veil so that you may see.. you have got to learn to be gods yourself.🤪😝🤪🤪😝😝🤪😝🤣😂😅🤣😂 May want to read Isaiah 43:10., 44: 6., 44: 8 45:5. As well as. Deauteronomy 6:4. JUST SAYING😁💯❤🙏 One more thing I Was blessed by God to be able to go to Israel and spend some time there visiting The Dig sites and the many other biblical sites.... The streets, the villages, the lakes, The seas......l swim in them. Now, try doing that with any of the places listed in the book of mormon... . You can't!!!! They do not exist. You ever hear of the mormons taking vacation to visit their ancient sites? Nope!!! Over 2 million people supposed to be killed near the hill of camora.... The fact is..... Not one spearhead has been found.... I realized the Kool aid must taste really good but you gotta STOP!!!..... And call out to the one true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.. . Im mormon from birth and can say we believe that there is one god heavenly father, jesus christ and the holy ghost. We always believe that, in the book of mormon it doesnt talk of many gods its just the trinity one god, simple. Joseph smith didnt write that statement in the book of mormon so i never heard that before and isnt what we believe. Maybe he was speculating about how god became god, it say alot in the bible about how we are children of god and he wants us to live with him again and be like him, right. So what does that say, im just speculating but if he wants us to be like him how do we do that, and to what degree, is it a little like him or actually like him with all his glory and perfect like him to be like god. We are children of god we through adam and eve were born on the earth through our lineage which goes all the way back to adam and eve. But our spirit come from god and we live in this mortal existence for a very short time maybe a hundred years then we die and like jesus we will be resurected eventually when god says its time and our body will be reunited with our spirit, same as jesus so we will have a body that is perfect and will be imortal and can live forever and never die, which is what as a mormon i believe, and i hope is what most christians believe too. But we can speculate cant we, about how god became god, this is just my opinion and of all that i have read in both the bible and the book of mormon, but if he wants us to grow and learn and learn fron our mistakes and repent and continue to grow bit by bit, we will eventually become like god. God loves families and this is how we develope, this is where we feel love and grow is in the family home, he refers to us as his children we are brothers and sister so family is big. But we are family, our spirit came possibly from a heavenly mother gods wife, thats my personal opinion, but if its not good for man to alone i would think its not good for god to be alone right? So what im saying is u can speculate about how god became god, this earth is just a growing and information download for the spirit so we can continue in the resurected form for billions and trillions of earth years after we die learning and continueing grow every minute of the time we spend with god. Time is relative, so time with god can be faster then earth his day can be a 1000 years on earth, Death isnt the end its just part of our experience and journey to be like god, but that my opinion. This guy is obviously a man of satan he instead of promoting god and his goodness of his own faith he is instead terring down other religions and telling lies in the process. He is twisting the truth, i know because i am mormon and know it inside out and in my opinion is the best church to getting as close to god as u can on earth. I know it is the only church that has more truth and is closer to gods will than any church on the earth.

You need to do your research, Mormonism is not biblical, they believe in a created Jesus, that Jesus was created by the Father God and a Mother God and procreated and produced Jesus. Also, your doctrine is incorrect, they are not individual gods, each one is a person and the three persons are God. Joseph Smith is a false prophet, he had over thirty wives, some were only fourteen years old.There is so much more that you must learn, your salvation is at risk. @@LUKETHELOG

just sharing.. I met my mormon classmate and this us how the story went.. Me: So, what's your religion? Girl: I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints Me: Oh, so you're mormon? Girl: *gets offended* No, it's LDS Me: What? so it's not the same with mormon? Girl: It's the same ! Me: *confused* Why do mormons get offended to be called a mormon ??

Not all Mormons get offended. In fact the church promoted it at one point but to a lesser extent. Now they are trying to distance themselves from it to be more official . Still many are not offended though

Because the so called prophet of their organization let the membership know to no longer use it, they were also told to say their Christians. Makes them more tolerable to the general public their trying to deceive with their false gospel. The D and C used to be called the book of commandments?! The church had a different name. Book of morman has changed very different than the original first printing.

In my continuing effort to understand Protestants- After watching this video, and considering other conversations I've had about the Woman at the Well perspectives, a couple questions and a scripture come to mind: 1) Is Jesus God? Every Protestant I know would answer "yes". 2) Does God have a body? To witch Sproul (and most Protestants I know) would answer "no". 3) How do the views that Jesus IS God, but that God does NOT have a body jibe with Jesus's own words recorded in Luke 24:39 "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have."? Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey there! Jesus has two natures: fully divine and fully human. Prior to the incarnation (his birth) he was only fully divine. He "became flesh and dwelt among us" and, thus, added on a second nature. This union of two natures in one person is called hypostatic union. So Jesus has a glorified body now like any human in heaven does but he also has divine spirit at the same time (because John 4:24 says God is spirit). Hope that helps. @@cameronbailey9704 - Okay, so why did Jesus repeatedly pray to God, his Father? Was he praying to himself? Did he simultaneously get baptized on Earth, announce himself from Heaven, and descend upon himself in the form of a dove? When Stephen saw Christ standing next to God, was he seeing God's body standing next to God's spirit? (Then what was the point of the resurrection if Christ could repeatedly unite and separate his spirit and his body?) There are just so many beliefs that Protestants hold that just don't seem to make sense. I'm asking if anyone can make sense of it for me.

@@kalepeacock Alright, so first you have to understand that the Trinity is not three forms of God. If it was three forms of God then the three persons of the Trinity couldn't interact. I could explain the Trinity more, or there's a really good video called "the Trinity explained in 5 minutes" by Redeemed Zoomer. As for why Jesus prays to the Father and submits to the Father, that's according to his fully human nature. He does not submit to the Father eternally, because Jesus is also God. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all fully God. You should honestly go watch that video because it explains this stuff really well.

Look what I found here, just carefully read my whole message down below: John 4:24. Is God a Spirit? The Greek text of John 4:24 contains no article before the word spirit. Thus, the Greek phrase can also be understood to mean “God is spirit,” or “God is spiritual.” The Apostle John also wrote that “God is light” (1 John 1:5) and “God is love” (1 John 4:8), but these statements do not mean that God is only light, or that God is love and nothing else. Neither do we understand the statement that “man is spirit” (D&C 93:33) to mean that man is only spirit and nothing else. In the same sense, John 4:24 does not mean that God is only spirit. From latter-day revelation, we know that “the Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit” (D&C 130:22). In the context of the Savior’s teachings about true worship, the statement in John 4:24 can be seen as commentary more about the nature of worship than the nature of God. Since God is a spiritual being, people must worship Him “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24), not merely through outward rituals performed at certain locations (see John 4:20-21). The Joseph Smith Translation gives a clearer understanding of what the Savior was teaching: “For unto such hath God promised his Spirit. And they who worship him, must worship in spirit and in truth” (Joseph Smith Translation, John 4:26 [in John 4:24, footnote a]). Elder Bruce R. McConkie quoted this passage and then taught: “There is no salvation in worshiping a false god. It does not matter one particle how sincerely someone may believe that God is a golden calf, or that he is an immaterial, uncreated power that is in all things; the worship of such a being or concept has no saving power. Men may believe with all their souls that images or powers or laws are God, but no amount of devotion to these concepts will ever give the power that leads to immortality and eternal life. … “But if he worships the true and living God, in spirit and in truth, then God Almighty will pour out his Spirit upon him, and he will have power to raise the dead, move mountains, entertain angels, and walk in celestial streets” (“How to Worship,” Ensign, Dec. 1971, 129).

He does have a spirit. The Holy Ghost helps too! (But he does have a body and physical form). The apostle saw both Christ and God together (Father and Son). He (Jesus) was sitting at his Fathers right side (from Acts, in the bible).

God (Jesus father, also has his own physical body - which he had first). Jesus then came to earth and received his own body too. (So they both have a bodies)! But you are right, in a "sense" God is in Jesus and Jesus is in God (The Son becomes the father, and the father the son). :)

@@nute742 So you're saying the Father has a body. Are you Mormon? Jesus did not have a body until his incarnation. He "became flesh and dwelt among us," adding a second nature (fully human) onto his first (fully divine). This is a hypostatic union of two natures in one person. Jesus was resurrected and now has a glorified body and divine spirit (John 4:24). So my question is: how can the same be so for the Father? And if Jesus had a body prior to his incarnation, what happened to it? Was it just discarded? I mean to ask these questions in a respectful, loving manner. God bless

@@cameronbailey9704 Hello and thanks for your reply. For christ "incarnation" I assume that means birth. But yes, Jesus did come down and get a body (like we did too) There was a purpose for that (vs God could not, as he had a "physical" and perfected body) That is why he sent his son (so he, Jesus) could attone, die for our sins (and fulfill the "universal" requirements needed to break the bands of sin and death). That is one aspect I recently learned more in depth (from an interesting talk, which I can send you if you want). As per Jesus body, I believe he only had spiritual body first, was born (received a natural body) died, and now has a physical body again (resurrected and glorified though) Like his Father! That is my understanding. What are your beliefs? (okay thanks)

Mormons have everything wrong about Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit and the Gospel and that makes it extremely difficult to share the truth with them. It's both sad and frustrating because they can't know if they've done enough, if they can deny all ungodliness so that grace can save them because their own books tell them they cannot be saved in their sin. They also believe sinlessness is something they can achieve in their lifetime, although I've never met one who has. They really have to realize their gospel cannot save them and want to know the truth to make any headway.

Exactly, they worship a different God. They are not Christians. I love and respect them as people but I get frustrated when they claim to be Christian.

@@cameronbailey9704 Ask yourself this: If mormons are highly moral people--as most people say they are at least very polite; than how can their religion come from the devil? Can the devil make good, exceptionally polite people? If so, he is divided against himself. See Matthew 12:26 for the base of my reasoning.

Who are you to judge who is sinless or not? That's God's job, not yours; the Methodists believe the same thing anyway. Are you gonna call them not Christian? You say that "Mormons have everything wrong about Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit and the Gospel", but you don't explain why. How did Stephen see the Father & Son together on their thrones, if the Father is not physical? How is the Father called the Father, if he didn't actually father Jesus?

@@sethbaggins You're conflating the term "Christian" to mean "good person" or "gentleman." I was not trying to claim that Mormons are not good people, so I apologize if you took it that way. I have many Mormon friends, as I live in a heavily Mormon area, and they are all great people. I am not saying "all Mormons are going to Hell" --- I can't judge you all --- but I'm saying there's no guarantee. My original point was our differences in how we understand God are too dramatic for you to be considered Christian. That's why the Catholic Church, for example, does not recognize LDS baptisms as valid, because Mormons reject the Trinity, among other essential Christian doctrines. But you will probably say, "How can you say we're not Christians, we believe in Jesus Christ --- he's literally in our church's name." Well, Muslims "believe in Jesus," Hindus "believe in Jesus," etc, but that doesn't make them Christian. That is why the Ecumenical Councils of the Early Church are so important for clarifying what we believe and why it's correct. The Holy Spirit guides the Church, not just the individual. If anyone can interpret Scripture however they want, where do we draw the line of heresy? The Church has to have authority and it does have that authority given by Christ to his apostles. I'd be happy to talk about your understanding of the Godhead, progression to Godhood, flirting with polytheism, etc, if you'd like. God bless

Mr Sproul, draw a spirit. Noone can, correct? Could a spirit be in the shape of man? Is our body in the shape of man? Is there References to GOD having appendages? Could his Spirit be in the same shape as man? Are we referred to as God's? Are we also a spirit? Does that mean, GOD is not a spirit because he has appendages? Because he resembles US, does that make him NOT GOD? Who's image is the human body? Why did God make the human? If you answered; To house a the a spirit in it. Does our spirit fit in a the box? No it fits a human body. You wouldn't design & build a circle to fit a box into it? GOD chose a bush to house his self, to speak to Moses, could he not select another shape or body or no body just his Spirit form?

Heavenly father has a glorified body as well as jesus who was resurected 3 days after he died, and then acended into heaven, the holy ghost is gods spirit and is every where so thats why we have the trinity.

If what you said is true then you're calling Jesus a liar..... Jesus said no one has seen or can see the Father Except the one who is from God, speaking of HIMSELF. John 6:46. Also when Jesus was speaking to the samaritan woman at Jacob's well, Jesus said to her, God is Spirit and you must worship Him in Spirit and In truth. Look it up!!! Also after doubting Thomas doubted Jesus, Jesus said put your fingers into the nail prints in my hands, put your hand into my side touch Me and see for a Spirit does not have flesh and bone as you see ME!!!!! You're lost!!! You've drank too much cool aid!!! You don't know what the Trinity is or how to explain it Properly.... So what i got from that is 1. You think i dont belive that jesus has physical body after he rose on the third day? Luke 24:39 behold my hand and my feet that it is i myself: handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me have. I do believe that. 2. the trinity is very simple to me and i dont think any one is going to go to hell if they misinterpret the trinity, as long as u believe in christ thats the major thing, but i will share with u verses about the trinity. Matt 3:17 This is my beloved son in whom i am well pleased. Matt 26:39 Not as i will. but as thou wilt. Luke 1:32 Called the son of the highest. Luke 3:22 Holy ghost decsended in a bodily shape like a dove. John 5:19 The son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the father do. John 14:28 My father is greater than i. Acts 2:33 Being by the right hand of god exalted Acts 7:55 Saw the glory of god, and jesus standing on the right hand of god. Colossians 1:15 Who is in the image of the invisible god, the first born of every creature. First born being jesus. 3. i believe they are all equal in power, in love, in peace, so on. 4. Can any one out love god, very good point, no he will love us forever but i feel and this is a personal feeling of being with god for eternity where does ur life go. I think i will learn everything god can teach, and then just experience the rest with him. 5. i know jesus (god) isnt still learning, he reach his fullness when all his work was complete and recieved his resurected glorified body. 6. I know the holy ghost is the spirit of god that is in everything on and in the earth, he is equel in all the lord jesus and heavenly fathers power, love, peace, and can free mankind from sin, pain and illness, so on, make us happy and glorified like him. 7. Here a scrioture from new testiment about the 3 degrees of glory that we believe to be celestial, terrestrial, and telestrial kingdoms. Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man in chtist above fourteen years ago, (weather in the body i cannot tell, or weather out of the body i cannot tell: god knoweth) such an one caught up to the third heaven 8. Every time I've had someone argue these points with me it always is just a bunch of circular logic regarding the trinity, God having no body but Jesus did, or does, or he shed His body, God is like an apple, or an egg, or whatever......it never makes sense. 3 distinct beings always makes sense. Trinity doctrine never makes sense.

@@conanlabiche How? We're not denying that Jesus is God, we're denying that God is a hivemind; we think that they have the same mind as in one will; but that they are distinct persons. If the trinity makes no sense, then how can God? God is explainable, because if you can explain the creation you can explain the creator. He is not out of reach; that's why the unintelligible trinity--where somehow they're the same person but somehow not--aint true.

@@sethbaggins some things we cannot explain to man's satisfaction this side of eternity. like, we have free will, and He is sovereign. like, the Father is God the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God. 3 persons one in essence. the Father is God, but the Father is not the Son or the Holy Spirit. same for the Son and the Holy Spirit. thats just the way He is. im sorry that i cant explain it to your satisfaction, but i pray He reveals this truth in your heart and mind.

I'm afraid you can't explain it to me since it is incoherent to the human mind, just like the incoherent Greek Philosophy from which it came from. There is not one explanation of a trinity, essence, or "three in 1, 1 in 3" in the Bible; the word trinity isn't even mentioned in the book. The trinity breaks the fundamental laws of reality. So it cannot exist inside of it, but outside of it. If a V.r player logs into a "virtual reality" he doesn't cease to exist as a physical being. How did Saint Stephen see the Father with his son Jesus on his own throne on his right hand side--if the Father did not actually father his son Jesus and he is not physical. You can't create life without life, material out of immaterial, likewise you can't make something physical without something physical; we are both physical and spiritual beings, and so is the father--(The book of Doctrine & Covenants explains that all things are spiritual with God, that doesn't mean our heavenly parents cannot touch us, their children.)--he has an exalted human body just like his son. Because he passed a mortal probation or test just like ours on a earth like ours. We are tested here, and if we pass this test we become exalted; although a person has to be exceptionally righteous to make godhood, although I would say, most individuals become angels instead. When you see all these aliens in movies who mimic the human body, is not the human still the most beautiful? Aren't we the most beautiful creatures on earth? But how though? Because we are made in Elohim's image & likeness. I'm principally arguing about the Fathers physicality btw, the Holy Ghost, or Spirit, is still spirit.

He has both (he is a "Triune" being) Body, Mind, Spirit. (Why would Christ have a body, spirt, etc - and not God)? Especially because Jesus is the Son of God (anyway food for thought)

Within the one being that which is God exists 3 CO equal CO eternal persons namely the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit..... 1 being 3 in person.... 1 what 3 who's..... Jesus Christ has 2 natures both God and man. It's called the hypostatic Union. The human side says... I am thirsty.... John 19:28. The divine side says... I will be with you always Even until the end of the world... Matthew 28:20. Outside of Christ there is nothing..... And morminism is definitely outside of Christ. Just because you can put a Ferrari sticker on a VW it does not make the VW a Ferrari🤔 and that's what they've done! Not sure why everyone gets it wrong. During the void God was only in the spirit form. Then let there be light he became the light. Then adam and eve were created. This was when the spirit gave itself a body. This new body became the Father of God. Then the father sent his son a soul to earth to be born of the body. Jesus our Lord and Savior died for us. But he gave his body however, we take and eat the bread. This bread is the body of Christ. The earthly man body is the Church. Who do you think Jesus prayed to? The Father. The Father is on the throne. Jesus is at his right running heavon. When we pray and speak to the Lord. We are responded to by the holy spirit. All three are God. We as humans must see Jesus as our Lord and savior cause he is the truth, the life, the way. We can not see the Father without going through Jesus first.

So if God is love from eternity past HE must have had someone to love correct??? Correct😉 ..... Also in Genesis 1:26. You'll find there's a plural (US), plural (OUR), singular (IMAGE)., plural (OUR). @@tjhoss6729 moses didnt speak to the holy spirit or Jesus. Moses spoke to the Father. Jesus and the Father hold the Holy spirit in higher reguard then themselves. This is because this was the first form of God. The spirit gave birth to the Father then the Father to Jesus. The Holy Spirit is how we comunicate with God. This version of God had to stay in spirit form in order to be in all of us. If the Spirit never made the Father then there would of been no Son. God created man in his own image because the Spirit created the Father then the Father rhe son. The Holy spirit is the essence of God. The Father is the voice of God. Jesus is the body of God. Jesus body is the Church. This is why we take the bread. When we pray we are using the Holy Spirit. Our praying is heard by Jesus the Son of man. This is why on our day of judgement Jesus acts as our public defender. The Father is the judge. We man pray to Jesus Jesus prays to the Father. The Father looks to the Holy Spirit. The ultimate sin for man is disrespect of the Holy Spirit. It is the unforgivable sin.

Moses was speaking to the WORD who was the preincarnate Christ at the burning Bush.... Moses asked the burning Bush who shall I say sent me And the Preincarnate Christ said from the burning Bush.... Tell them I AM has sent you to them..... Also in John 8:58. JESUS Made it crystal clear who HE was When HE said..... Before Abraham was I AM!!!! As well as John 10:30-33. So how can Mr. sproul be so sure that his view of Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are the correct ones? I take it he has direct first hand knowledge. He has seen, talked and spoken with God? Because he is attacking and contradicting a modern day Moses who has; who knows more than Sproul or any person could in a life time of seminary or theological study; who was tutored from on high, by the Savior himself. Thats incredible knowledge to have. Sproul clearly has spent countless hours in bible school debating theology, and learning to argue a certain point of view. Thats all good, but thats not where members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints get their convictions. It is because the holy spirit has spoken to their hearts. It is the same way Peter knew Jesus was the Christ. It was revealed to him. Its pretty hard to argue with that. Revelation of the spirit wins over secular learning every time.

@@LUKETHELOG There is no trinity in scriptures, only the Diety (the creator) who lives in bodily form, in the lamb/living body of Jesus christ. The Creator is Father and son, the divine conscienceness and the eternal spirit of life/living water of life that lives in bodily form, as one (person) God not the trinity as three persons, three gods.

So when jesus was talking to god or the son of god was talking to heavenly father he was talking to no body but himself, so why pray in the garden of gethsemany or why would he pray at all. Most christian churches believe in the trinity the father the son and the holy ghost, i agree with u they are one in spirit and purpose they are all one in that sense same glory so on, but it says very distinctly in the old and new testiment that they are 3 distinct individuals, all with the same truth and same understanding. So its like one god.

The fact that the scripture says "God is a Spirit" in the New Testament doesn't preclude the fact that He doesn't have a body. We are spirits too. What would the point to us in having a body if God didn't have a body? Also, that would be counterintuitive if we as children of God are resurrected after we die into our perfect body and God, the Father doesn't have a body. A main reason as to why the Holy Ghost is part of the Godhead, is because the Holy Ghost is not restricted to a body and can speak to us the truth Spirit to Spirit. God sends the Holy Ghost to speak to us.
