Im mormon from birth and can say we believe that there is one god heavenly father, jesus christ and the holy ghost. We always believe that, in the book of mormon it doesnt talk of many gods its just the trinity one god, simple. Joseph smith didnt write that statement in the book of mormon so i never heard that before and isnt what we believe. Maybe he was speculating about how god became god, it say alot in the bible about how we are children of god and he wants us to live with him again and be like him, right. So what does that say, im just speculating but if he wants us to be like him how do we do that, and to what degree, is it a little like him or actually like him with all his glory and perfect like him to be like god. We are children of god we through adam and eve were born on the earth through our lineage which goes all the way back to adam and eve. But our spirit come from god and we live in this mortal existence for a very short time maybe a hundred years then we die and like jesus we will be resurected eventually when god says its time and our body will be reunited with our spirit, same as jesus so we will have a body that is perfect and will be imortal and can live forever and never die, which is what as a mormon i believe, and i hope is what most christians believe too. But we can speculate cant we, about how god became god, this is just my opinion and of all that i have read in both the bible and the book of mormon, but if he wants us to grow and learn and learn fron our mistakes and repent and continue to grow bit by bit, we will eventually become like god. God loves families and this is how we develope, this is where we feel love and grow is in the family home, he refers to us as his children we are brothers and sister so family is big. But we are family, our spirit came possibly from a heavenly mother gods wife, thats my personal opinion, but if its not good for man to alone i would think its not good for god to be alone right? So what im saying is u can speculate about how god became god, this earth is just a growing and information download for the spirit so we can continue in the resurected form for billions and trillions of earth years after we die learning and continueing grow every minute of the time we spend with god. Time is relative, so time with god can be faster then earth his day can be a 1000 years on earth, Death isnt the end its just part of our experience and journey to be like god, but that my opinion.

As I was taught as a former Mormon. GOD is a man like being / spirit, the Holy Ghost is the spirit of God so that he may be with all of us, and Jesus before he rose was a man of flesh and blood, and when Jesus was resurected, his body became that of flesh and BONE. The "proof" to the Mormons is that when Jesus was resurected and he told Mary (?) not to touch him because is body had not finished being "translated", the other "proof" is that when Jesus went and showed the apostles the scars of his wounds there were scars but no blood. The other thing that diverts from Christianity, is the emphasis of Christs suffering the weight of the sins of the world in the Garden of Gethsemeni (?) How come no one never mentions the spear pearcing Christ's chest and the water of a "broken" heart ? I've never held any level of LDS priesthood for whatever reason, but I come from what called a "generational" family. Forgive my ignorance.... I'm still a seeker.

@scottgrey2877 That would be depending on who you are talking to. We would be Gods to our Children but not in relationship to our Father in Heaven. He would always have more Glory than we could ever obtain. But to be like him and follow in his footsteps so to speak is not the blasphemy that the Christian world would say it is. Though they may have heard about the light and knowledge we received from God... they, like the Jews that Jesus gave further light and knowledge to... rejected his teachings. We have accepted the teachings that he gave to Joseph Smith which was his prophet at that time upon the earth. We are blessed to have received and accepted that further light and knowledge.

The Doctrine of plurality of Gods is a true doctrine. But Christians need not fear for the there is ONLY ONE GOD who is YOUR Father in Heaven. And it is true that the doctrine of the Trinity is a false doctrine. None of the 326 men who voted on it had received revelation from God that He, the Son, and the Holy Ghost were made of the same substance. NOT ONE OF THE THREE HAD A VOICE IN THAT DECISION!! And yet Christians are upset that there are more God's in the Universe than one??? Why? These are not the Gods of mythology who war against each other!! Nor do they perform little tricks against the people. Those are the false God's of this world that man enjoy and yet... not one of those Gods do a thing for any of us upon this earth. For they are not real. Now the other God's that are in this Universe are real. But you will never deal with them. For the only God you will worship or who you are expected to worship is the one who gave you your spiritual body. And that... is our Father in Heaven. That is not the Son... but the Father. The Son was first of all the begotten spirit children of OUR FATHER. That is what makes him OUR FATHER. We were not created. We, like God and all the Gods have always existed. Just not always in the same form. From being an intelligence to then having a spiritual body created for us for our intelligence to inhabit... to now a physcial body that is made from this earth and when this body dies... we in our spiritual from return to the God who created it. For it was our Father that set the plan in motion for his sons and daughters to come down to this earth and others like it... to live a mortal life outside of the presence of God. That is why Adam & Eve partook of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil so that we would be separated from him. That separation is known as our spiritual death. Now that we are outside of us always having him around... we are to be tested to see if we will obey the commandments he has given to us. Men are called as mouth pieces for God and are called Prophets. Not only because they prophesy of things to come if we don't obey... but share with us the thoughts and love of our Father which is in Heaven when we do It was Jesus Christ himself who came to earth and spoke with Joseph Smith on many occasions. And Joseph too left scripture behind about those things of the past which were lost... and to right many wrongs which were not taught but were written in the Bible as truth. These things according the dictates of hearts of men who felt that the story told should have had more PAAZAAAZ TO IT. This is where we get false story of God hardening the heart of Pharaoh. Pharaoh had always hardened his own heart and all the plagues that came upon him and his people were deserved. It was NEVER because God had hardened his heart. That is a false teaching which all of Christianity has bought into. There are many things that Christianity has bought into. Yea... the Trinity too... How sad is that? As Jesus Christ taught the Jews what he could about how the Law would be fulfilled and how he came to take upon himself the punishment for all the sins that his brothers and sisters had committed so far upon this earth... and still would sin more. Through his mercy and by the authority of the Father, he accomplished his mission and every sin was paid for and every sin was accounted for. And by the holy blood that was spilt, this blood is what atones for memories of our sins to be erased and not remembered by the Father. Therefore allowing us to be in his presence again if we will do our part. And our part is to repent and accept the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. For it is only through the Son that we can return to the Father. How glorious was the Plan of Salvation!! And we all have the opportunity to participate in it.
