I'm from Spain and I recommend to all the motorsport fans to go to the Fernando Alonso's museum. It has all the F1 that have driven Fernando (except 2017 and 2021), karts, Toyota TS050, Toyota Hilux, Indy500 2017 car, ... and they will add the Cadillac DPi in the next months.

Kimi had a bonus option in his contract with Lotus where he would be paid a lot for podiums, which he got many of while driving for them. To the point they didn't have the funds to pay them and would go bankrupt on the pay-out, so he got one of his cars as compensation as they would've lost spectacularely in court. I'd put it in a museum without giving up the ownership. Considering those cars are not capable of cranking without extensive preparations like preheating the engine, because the tolerances are so tight it would do much better as a public exhibit (no touchy though) than a room ornament. Now if I had the money and skill to actually drive one, I'd take it for a cruise drive of Nurburing while filming it. People wanted to see a modern F1 on that track for ages.

I remember a temporary F1 exhibit that was at my local museum in 2009, featuring several important historic cars from every decade of F1, that really made me appreciate just how absolutely incredible the design and engineering of F1 has been. Seeing the cars up close (and sneaking a quick touch of a few) also made me realise that TV didn't really display the cars as they truly were, especially the older ones that looked more like homemade go-karts than the semi-mythical beasts I always saw them as when I was younger. For that reason alone, I say the more of F1 that gets displayed in public museums the better!

I really wonder if there's an instruction manual included with purchase. Like I can imagine the FW14B is probably pretty complicated to use. I think the suspension had to be calibrated by the computer for every individual track and I can imagine that's incredibly complicated. I wonder if Vettel has to just figure it out (which wouldn't surprise me if he did) or do you have to get an old Williams engineer to explain it all to you.

I went to see the Sauber windtunnel in 2013 or so and in the same room where they have the cutaway car they also have half an F1 car (the part behind the driver seat removed for saving space) fitted with a set of wheel and pedals and hooked up to a TV and the then current F1 game. Given I was there during an event hosted by National Instruments (they did a lot of the tech in the windtunnel) they even had a little contest where the 3 fastest drivers of the day could win a prize

For anyone wondering; the Lamborghini prototype mentioned early in the video is the McLaren MP4/8B. Nothing special about it nor was it hard to find photos of it either, it was just a normal MP4/8 but slightly stretched to accomodate the Lamborghini V12 that was bolted into it, apparently if it did replace the MP4/8 during the 1993 championship it would've won it.

I'm a collector so I would definitely keep the car at home. I'd put it on a plinth with a glass housing around it.

One cassis each of Ferrari 640 of Gerhard Berger (1989) & Ferrari 643 of Alain Prost/Gianni Morbidelli (1991) gotta be the cars that made by far the most miles of all F1 cars ever. They running for over 30 Years now on many events and tracks.

I herd recently that the only driver who has all his previous cars in museums and locked storage to NEVER be sold or broken apart, is Senna's previous cars. Shows how valuable they are!

I would have imagined that the the management group would take some to help check safety features and improve them for next year for regulations. So I am quite surprised to see that not on the list.

In terms of spare parts it's very likely that cars will be recycled in the future to both help F1 become more sustainable and help keep costs down.

There is this french company that owns a few cars and allows members of the public to drive them over a weekend or so on a track under supervision. Costs like 3k euro but god damn would that be an experience.

Back in the day F1 cars found a second life in South America, South Africa or down under. In 1957 a certain Bernard Ecclestone bought the remaining cars of the Connaught team. At the end of the year he sent "his" driver Stuart Lewis Evans down under and a Connaught car along with him. Evans didn't really sell the car. He traded it for a...stamp collection.
