This was interesting. I would like to know though, when does the bleaching come in? Also why remove the bran and add it back? Does the alter the texture or is that done just for convenience?
@SiameseCheese4 жыл бұрын
Roller mills work like that. They incrementally remove from the outside wheat berry (the bran) and work their way in (the endosperm/white flour). A few mill types like the unifine mills pulverize the entire wheat berry and avoid the moisture adding tempering process that roller mills require. Some bakers swear this makes wholemeal bread taste better.

That was extremely informative, I realy thought I could make bread flour by just grinding wheat berries in my old Atlas grinding mill. It does make a lovely portion of chicken feed though. I have to look out for some more antique milling equipment to display at county shows while I try to make proper flour with it.
@elizabethbennet47918 жыл бұрын
You can, just whole wheat flour.
@thra5herxb12s8 жыл бұрын
My wife makes great tasting bread with it. I'm not too worried about the protein content, I just get wheat from my local feed store for demonstrating the old fashioned equipment, but I also hate throwing anything away, so what I cant use myself gets given to friends.

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your video gave me cancer anyway.

All this time I did not know the difference between flour and whole wheat flour. So I guess it's probably safe to say that whole wheat flour has the highest concentration of pesticides and other hazardous chemicals while white flour will make you fat but is not as hazardous for your health as wheat flour.

JourneyTotheTruthandTotalRandomness that's a lie. White flour caused my heart to beat faster, with chest pain, think it was the man made fortified Niacin. Whereas whole wheat does the opposite. Ever notice like on whole grain and oats label you see heart healthy.

It doesn't make sense to believe that a portion of excess wheat from the harvest should be used for animal feed. They are a different species. Unless you say you do it because it isn't easily discerned what the different animals SHOULD eat.

Don't mention the poisons genetically inserted into the plant for it to produce, the pesticides sprayed on the plant, the chemical fertilizer used to feed the plant yet which has whatever toxic metals or chemicals attached, nor the fact that one grain being grown specifically for production might happen to lose out in vital nutrition, especially over a couple thousand years of artificial selection for sheer mass over anything else. I'm just implying that maybe this wheat stuff, regardless of any health information or gluten awareness, isn't exactly the best to be filling yourselves with, or me with. And I most likely only know the 1% of information about the detrimental things which are connected to wheat production, much less whatever else goes on. It's a soylent green-type of world and anything I could possibly find to eat has been selected specifically over the thousands of years to make slave workers continue to be slave workers. There's no more wild plants, everything in the US anyway is completely invasive to the original America. I couldn't even know the half of why I should avoid everything from everyone, much less the plants which grow around and are assumed to be natural yet are so artificial to the US that they might as well all be part of an illusion that feeds an economy instead of whatever I would want, should I know anything at all about reality, which I assume wouldn't be the case if it would help some businessmen or presidents to have me never understand whatever it is to understand.
