29:30 I also thought the forest elements were random, plus the dead-looking kids. My small fix: make the kids even greener and entangled in vines. Then have the old lady tending her plants when the scoobies arrive. She is exhibiting an almost obsessive love for her plants, expressed by pruning them into shape. So it isn’t exactly the house that is haunted, it’s the plants. Her “love” for her children is like her love for her plants, expressed by cutting parts away that displeased her, and the explosive growth of the plants is the reverse of the pruning, an outburst of repressed emotions.

Part of the fun of reactions is seeing how different people go about those stories we love. I love to watch you overthink and analyse stuff. Shows your engaged with the stories. There's another reactor I see that takes like 10 minutes break overthinking and talking abiut philosophy and stuff during episodes and its just fun. The kind of discussions a show can make us have. So dont mind those comments, its like some people want to just watch the show and not a reaction

Perhaps Anya's problem is that she was with the scorned women for only a short period of their lives. She did not know them or their relationships well enough to grasp what could have made things better. And now she's in a relationship for an extended period, something she is not used to. She's having trouble understanding her emotions, and why she feels a certain way.

Thank you for showing love and appreciation towards Xander. I don't hear alot of people focus in on him and what's going on in his personal life. He doesn't complain about his 'woe is me' life. This young man has worked multiple jobs, is living in his alcoholic parent's basement and paying rent (with no stable job but working where they will pay him asap to make ends meet). He isn't going to college so it is harder for him than how his friends are living their life. Is in a relationship with a former vengeance demon who constantly puts him down and he has to constantly explain to her why she needs to tone down her insensitive, rude and hurtful comments towards others. I mean, he is going through it and yet he is standing strong and being there for his friends. To top it off, we still haven't seen any of his friends help him out and be there for him either. Buffy and Willow have each other cuz they share a room so they have more time to talk and listen to each other. At times Buffy has Riley and Willow has Tara but who's got Xander? Anya isn't looking out for him cuz she's more focused on her needs and wants. And Xander's just pushing through and dealing with it all. I feel for him. I really do. How old is he? 18-19? That's alot to handle at his age.

"Are these ghosts homophobic?" Yes, but what triggered it wasn't that it was a gay act, but rather the intimacy of Willow putting her hand on Tara's leg. But homophobia would absolutely have been a part of the trauma inflicted on the kids under that woman's abuse.

Anya also showed pretty intense loyalty in this episode. She can't stand the idea of anything happening to Xander, and would do anything to protect him. She shows her deep feelings even if she doesn't understand what to do with them. She also is very honest in positive ways like "sad, afraid of being without you.... and a little hungry" That was an honest and insightful admission of what was behind her lashing out, even if she hadn't fully connected the dots. But yeah, Anya speaks her mind without any filter or through any lens of social awareness. And Emma Caulfied is hilarious, agreed 😂

Your thoughts about the plots and actions are exactly how most of my friends reacted when they first watched when this aired. Keep it up. The show has evolved and grown like Buffy. The seasons have several levels to the show that were not there when it started. One of this years is one you mentioned and was highlighted in Hush, communication .Many episodes and relationships have struggled with communication and the results of the inability to communicate. Lastly, the show is now having situations and events take place for the story and also to establish futures of characters and stories.

Have you ever seen the "Child Catcher" scene in the 60's movie "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"? That might have been how those "creepy" vibes associated with treat trucks got started. We were exposed to some pretty trippy stories as kids back then. Like those Dr. Seuss books and that other famous kids book "Where the Wild Things Are". I guess the earliest trippy kids books were "Grimms' Fairy Tales" and "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland".

I feel like we don’t have to be super mean and sarcastic towards the few people that happen to find Cass’s style of reacting off putting. I myself remember when I first started watching her reactions being highly annoyed but yet so intrigued at how she would pause the show to have this long ass dialogue. Yet I would appreciate her pausing the show to react instead of talking through the show and possibly missing an important line/moment. I was so torn on whether I enjoyed the method or not. But I realized by episode 5 why it would annoy me. Cass would pause the show for 5 minutes to ask a bunch of “wait, but why this and why that” questions when me as a fan know her question will literally get answered as soon as she press play. lol It wouldn’t piss me off but I would be just sitting there like “gurrrrlll, just press play. The show will literally answer you in 3 seconds!” Once I realized why it annoyed me, funny enough I got use to & expected it then found it charming and funny. I know the answers coming around the corner even tho she will spend 5 minutes going into major theories and analysis about what and why and how. So I get why some wouldn’t care for the pausing and over analyzing of something you know is wrong if you don’t have patience but I embraced it and enjoy chuckling at it waiting for her to just press play and get her answer.

They needed passion between Buffy and Riley so much they made them have sex for half of the episode aaand ... no effect. The story is rather strange than sexy. It's too straightforward and they just don't have it. You either have it or you don't. Just 30 minutes having sex in the story can't help it.

This episode is always a skip for me. I love your analysis and questions and theories. Don't ever stop. It's part of the reason you're my favorite Buffy reactor

You are so insightful about this series as a whole. I do not like this episode. I didn't like it when it aired when I was young because it made me feel shameful. Now, I dislike it because it makes me think about the aspects of how I was raised that mirror how the poltergeists grew up. The only good part is Giles singing, imo. Anthony Stewart Head has a pleasant voice, and I like all of his singing performances on Buffy.

Great video. I do like the rants but it can take away from the flow of the reaction at times. My suggestion, take notes of your more out-there predictions and thoughts, and then see how you feel about 'em and discuss after the episode. But you make great content, regardless, and you being you is what makes your videos compelling and unique.

I am not a prude, but WTTA is my least favorite ep of season 4. Also I think all the demons have an understanding, a bit of an agreement. Spike probably knows the language due to being around them so long, know thy enemy??

You should really stop watching the "previously on" segments, they often contain spoilers and ruin the surprises in the episodes.
