DO NOT get credit cards unless you are going to pay them off in full. Making minimum payments on your cards, along with interest rates, will be harmful for your wallet and your time!

Hi, came across your channel. So far, good info on credit cards. It's good to educate people on that topic, so many people don't understand how to use credit cards to your advantage. I don't see a video on other card benefits like Cell Phone Protection, Rental car waive insurance, etc. Also, how to use credit and rack up points and never pay APRs. One thing I recommend friends is to always check in on new offers on your existing card for another 0%. Just some suggestions. Great job though!

My first card was also the BankofAmerica CashRewards Card. I opened CapitalOne QuickSilverOne just to improve my utilization. My next card will also be the Chase Freedom, which I will use to finance my laptop. Great videos!

Interesting that your choice in credit cards follows your education. I'm curious why you haven't chose to apply for the Discover IT card to take advantage of 5% categories and rotate spending with the Chase Freedom card.

cybern9ne I have discover it card and it sucks because when an issue comes up where a merchant needs to be disputed they do not have ur back this company has major issues and only make excuses for why things go wrong
@roberttaylor8906
@roberttaylor8906 6 жыл бұрын
cybern9ne this is a good idea, but when I compare them often there are repeat categories and/or the freedom ends up the better of the two overall category wise. However, for 5%, I find the nusenda Platinum Cash Rewards to be a great pair with the freedom. This year I had groceries, gas, and movies twice and restaurants 3 times between these 2 cards. Then the us bank cash+ let's you pick 2 categories from a list, and the vantage west connect visa let's you pick one out of its own list. Lastly, there's a fort Knox credit union card and an NRA card that offer 5% on gas, but the NRA also has 5% on sporting goods stores. Personally, after the freedom, I'd get any or all of those cards before the discover it, simply because its categories are nice but not as nice as those other cards for me.

Have you ever considered product changing some of your older cards that you don't use anymore? If you product change, you don't get the signup bonus, but you do get to keep the original line of credit. I agree, canceling an older card is a bad idea, but if there is another card in their line that you think you would get more benefits from, it may be worth inquiring about a product change.

When I first started experimenting with credit card bonuses and such it was about a year and a half ago. My first card "Other then the card for the bank I was with" was the Bank of America cash rewards card that you have. Now that I am a commuter living in Alaska I spend about $200.00-$250.00 per month on gas, I love the 3% cash back on gas, it helps a lot.

Hi! With the Barclay Apple Rewards card, did they split up the cost of your laptop into the months for you as though they were a purchase each month? Or did they put the total amount on the card at once and you had to pay interest each month? Thanks!

Talia VG many cards offer no interest for a year from opening the account. You pay with the card and then it's up to you to make sure it's paid before your 0 percent runs out, the monthly payments can be whatever you want

There not in your wallet? if you don't drive how do you get around like restaurants , best buy , the mall , hair saloon , your job? I have a question because you made a big mistake. being the first year is free why would you apply for venture1 which only gets 1.25 miles per dollar when you could have gotten the Venture card which gets 2 miles per dollar and waves the annual fee? what made you pick this card over the Bank of America travel card?
@missbehelpful
@missbehelpful 6 жыл бұрын
I knew that eventually the annual fee would get charged and I don't want to pay annual fees for my cards, personally. I only have one card with a fee. I didn't want to get another card with BoA and I wanted to try out Capital One!
@marksantucci4230
@marksantucci4230 6 жыл бұрын
you could have down graded from the Venture to the Venture 1. so after the first year is up and the annual fee kicks in then you could have down grade to the Venture1 and transfer all the miles from the Venture card to Venture 1 and you would have more miles. You made a mistake opening up the Venture1 before the Venture card.

I've actually been thinking of converting my Barclay CashForward card to the Apple Rewards card to finance a new MacBook. I've just been so averse to carrying a balance on any of my cards or reporting any significant utilization that I feel a bit squirmy about it. 0% for 24 months is really attractive though. How did it affect your credit when you did it? And how long did it take to pay it off?
@missbehelpful
@missbehelpful 6 жыл бұрын
My score was like 35 points lower and I paid it off in 12 months.
@mrdisco99
@mrdisco99 6 жыл бұрын
I went ahead and got it. Conversion was not an option, but I applied for a new one and got approved. They only gave me barely enough to cover the purchase, but I moved some credit from my CashForward card to give my utilization some headroom. Barclays makes moving available credit between cards super easy. Thanks to that, the hit to my score after the purchase is hardly noticeable. The deferred interest terms on the Apple rewards card are worth a careful read. They calculate interest from the day the purchase is made. If I'm late on a payment or if I don't finish paying it off before the end of the term, all that interest gets added to the balance. That's a pretty big incentive to stay up to date on maintenance of this account.

Best thing for travel points (in my opinion) is to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred AND the Chase Freedom. The Sapphire Preferred has a $95 annual fee, but it's waved the first year. Plus, you can transfer any points you get from the Freedom into your Sapphire Preferred account and then use the points for travel redemptions. We're in year two with the CSP and we've already had a free hotel stay and a free flight with tons of points to spare - well worth the $95 fee!

Can someone explain how cash reward card work?
@SimplyMalayshax
@SimplyMalayshax 6 жыл бұрын
Hi. I have the Discover IT credit card which one on great things about this card is that it has a 5% cash back reward. So it’s recommended to spend 30% of your credit limit. How the cash back reward works is that whatever amount you spend you’ll get 5% back from that amount. For example if I spend $100, 5% of $100 is $5, and 5% of $500 is $25. The more you spend within the 30% of your credit limit the more cash back. Mind you the higher the credit limit, the more you get to spend but still within the 30% of your CL. You can see the cash back you earned on your monthly statement. You can choose to use the cash back you earned to help pay off your current balance. (Which is what I do) Or you can choose to get gift cards with the amount you earned from the cash back. It really depends on your credit card. Hope this helps 😊

I heard your credit gets hurt every time an auto company runs your credit and this worries me because I’m looking for a car but have a fair credit score at the moment. I don’t want my score to go back down to a poor score just because a company runs my credit... Is there any way to avoid this? How much does your score get affected by? How can I do enough research on the vehicle I want so my score is not affected by too much? What should I be looking for in terms of car and dealers so my score can get affected as low a number possible or is it all the same? Is this inevitable?

Hi beautiful! I have a question. Regrettably, I got my first credit card with First Premier Bank May of 2016. I have a $400 a month limit on it, and when I asked for them to increase it, they charge. Also, I get charged a $10 a month fee every month and an annual fee. I only got this card to build my credit, and now that I have my credit where I want it, I want to cancel this card because it has no benefits and the fees get expensive. Should I cancel it even though I have already had it for so long?

Stay away from first premier and credit one they have way to many fees and no perks. Good luck

agreed go to capital one first and pay for a secured card to rebuild your credit and then cancel the card

I would def cancel that card. As some of the comments below pointed out you may want to get new credit in the amount of the card you're cutting so your utilization doesn't change too much!

How long is considered too long when having only 1 card for about a year?

What exactly do you mean? Having credit cards for long periods of time is extremely helpful. It helps establish your credit history.

@@ValenNitto like how long should i wait until i apply for a second card?
@ValenNitto
@ValenNitto 5 жыл бұрын
@@Sasan_Guitar it depends how long your credit history is. Short credit history, it'll bring down your score but it'll eventually bring it up. Long credit history, it'll barely do anything. I applied for 3 cards recently and it barely dipped 5 points.
