Which One is Better? A HP Disc Or A Sand-net Disc?

Well, I have a lot of sanding to do and as much as I love standing in one place for hours to sand the surface of a piece of wood just so I can then stand in one place to stain that wood and then to finish it. If it could be a little faster it would make the job so much more enjoyable. So there is a newer product on the market for wood and it is called a Sand-net disk or disc. I suppose Disc is the correct spelling here. So how does this new product stack up against the the ones I'd usually buy. The price is quite a bit more for the newer product, but I have some experience with these types of products and they seem to be able to handle heat buildup better so it may last longer. It has some other neat features like being able to wash it, and the traditional discs can buildup dust over time and slow down the sanding process, so maybe these new products will help solve these problems to justify the price.
The results of the testing caused me to change my mind a bit, was I blown away? Well you'll have to watch the video to find out.

The sand net dust collection is amazing with active dust collection and not just the clip on bin. This is a big deal when you are trying to keep a clean shop and want to keep the project going.

I've been using the net style for couple years now. No going back to the sand paper. Mirka brand is the only one we have in my country.

Good to know, I've been using it now for a few weeks and though I only have the 120 grit at the moment, it seem to still be holding up well, definitely promising. Thanks for the comment!

I have a Bosch orbital sander and the sand nets do not stay on very well. I tried washing it and it was better. But I like the sandpaper better

professionally I use the sand net for my work. For some context cabinetry or finish carpentry. And the reason it didn’t do as good as the regular sand paper. Both of these different sand papers they both get something called clogging which happens over time when sanding the netting tends to clog more often without a dust extraction system or a shop vac being hooked up to the sander it’s being used with. If you want to test the two types of sand paper I would recommend hooking it up to a shop vac which is one of the reasons that the netting is better than the just sand paper. Any how love the content and research you do with your videos keep it up

My pleasure, I'm still using my first 'Net', it is working on sanding a painted surface and is far easier to remove that paint that gets stuck, but I can tell sanding is becoming harder the more I use it. Overall it seems to be a pretty good product, they should probably adjust the price a little bit down. 3M has a comparable product, and it is cheaper.

The fact that the sandnet does not have big holes in it and does not tear like paper will make it last way longer in abusive situations like smoothing the edges of deck boards etc. I can’t count how many paper I have thrown out just because they tore.

There isn't much of a conclusion sadly, there isn't really massive difference as much as I tried to identify one.
So, you think you know how to sand, eh?
