Just ordered my RM2 JB!. Really excited. After reviews and deliberation.. it will be the one that most my needs.. and is destraction free too.

Honestly, I think they want an iPad with a paper feel. E-ink just isn't quite there yet for all the features they want. Perhaps the Max Lumi or the Papyr as suggested but I don't think the rm2 will hit all their buttons. Remarkable definitely doesn't handle large PDFs that well. It's okay but not going to work if you need to switch between 20-30 large PDFs as mentioned. Maybe the next generation of Sony devices or maybe QuirkLogic has something up their sleeve.

Hi there JB. Im new to your channel and love it so far. I was looking for a device that i could daily drive in my bag with laptop. It would be mainly used for work and so i would need corol was looking for a samsung s7+ tablet first but realized that, though very capable, would just be another computer and to big/ bulky. I settled on the onix boox nova 3 color beceause i need the color of cetain documents. Im afraid that i bought the color ebook a generation too early but i believe that for a work environment it would do fine (and if not its going back) :P Just wanted to let you know that you have a subscriber extra en hope the next best thing in color will wait for a year or so :P

Love your channel. Very informative. I was thinking of getting a reMarkable 2 but also I was thinking maybe I should wait if there is going to be a reMarkable 3 anytime soon. I would like to hear your thoughts about it. Cheers fro Australia.

Which device gives the most precise writing experience? I've noticed that the remarkable 2 can sometimes (especially around the edges of the screen) have an error of up to 1 mm in measuring the location of the stylus on the screen. I contacted the company, and apparently this is because of them using wacom technology. This is a big issue for me. I like writing very small text in my notes, since I feel like this enables me to have an overview of the whole topic while at the same time being able to focus on the details of a concept. I don't see this being mentioned very much on the internet, although there are a few mentions on reddit.

Hey JB, another exceptional review. I've been using the RM1 for a while and found no need to go to the RM2. What I am finding now is that a larger screen for me would enhance my writing experience. However, there are more than a couple out there and from the reviews I have seen I am still not sure of what to get and don't want to get the wrong one as neither are cheap. From what I have seen from your reviews I have now been able to map it down to the MAX LUMI or PAPYR. They both have 13.3" screens and I believe they also offer a dual screen where I could read a book one side then make notes where I need to perhaps edit that book page on the other screen. These might be lengthy questions but highly appreciated if you ever get some time to check them out if you can: 1) Can both the units use LAMI, NORRIS pen etc. 2) As I am used to the RM1 writing speed I am happy with that. Are both of those equal to the RM1 speed? 3) Does the PAPYR have a front light? I don't think I would be writing in dim areas so I guess I won't need to bother with that. 4) Unlike the Remarkable, can the two units link to say DROP BOX or GOOGLE Drive instead of their own cloud? 5) Does the PAPYR have good templates to choose from like SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE Lines, Grids etc.. 6) Just repeating again. The PAPYR does have the both screen function like the LUMI where I read one book one side and can take notes the other side. For the note take side. If I ended up writing 100-200 notes is that achievable? Or is there a limit. Many thanks Cheers Matthew

Great questions! I am also interested in your thoughts on these, JB. So appreciate your thoughtful videos and informed opinions - helped me decide to get a Rm2. Didn't realize how much I'd miss the larger "paper" size.

Hi there. Why not bring in the Max Lumi? I love the rm2 but the Lumi has become my primary note taker. I agree about the feel of the rm2 but we know the limitations there. Love the content

Yeah I mentioned it it may be a little too big and heavy for what he’s trying to do but yeah I’m with you on that is right now the best large reader. I just don’t know if it will replace a yellow pad as good as the Papyr would. 👊🏼 Great points though

Coach I'm really struggling! I've been looking real hard at Remarkable2 and Supernote A5X but now I'm looking at the Papyr just for the size. I really like taking notes on 8 1/2 x 11. My primary goal is to take notes and be able to file them easily and retrieve. Having a writing experience that's most like pen (ballpoint or gel) on paper would be important to me. The next thing would be to convert notes to text to share with my team. A must have is to be able to create a new note quickly during a meeting. I am in a lot of client and prospect meetings and taking notes quickly is key for me. I like the idea of not replacing nibs but not necessarily a deal breaker. I have to be able to go thru a 8 hour day of meetings on the road and not worry about charging the tablet or a pen. Another important thing for me is the right mix of simplicity and some flexibility, I don't want a complex device to have to learn multiple features; I want to be able to take notes, file them, and retrieve them easily. I suppose being able to read PDF files from other sources and mark them up would be helpful. Having the ability to read a book (like on Kindle) is nice but I don't anticipate that as something I would use that often. Can you point me in the right direction? Many thanks!

Alan - tough one - really I use the reMarkable 2 and Papyr daily - I love bother Supernote is great but it has a different feel that some people love or hate. I don't think any of them are perfect yet. Sony has a new device coming out and the Papyr 2 may be amazing. I have more coming this week, but I don't want to give you something you don't like. I WISH you could test them. I love the software on the Papyr but your are getting 4-5 year old tech. Supernote you can't go wrong, I just don't pick it up first if that helps. Daily planner is the rM2 and daily notetake for work is the Papyr. Thanks

@@morningcoach thanks Coach! I like the Papyr it just lacks some feature capabilities I may just wait it out to the end of the year and see how things progress across the board. I do want the feel to be like pen on paper not pencil on paper.

Idea from left field: GoodNotes on an iPad can produce PDFs and sync well between devices, with the sync/security of Apple's iCloud.

That's what I recommend people with such demanding features and utilities. Those e-ink devices won't cut it. Too slow and limited!

I saved PDFs from word and the fonts get all wonky on the Papyr. And i am only using Arial!

The new Sony device may be colour, but I thought it was a lower resolution device?

Original Sony is v good for big pdf's I tried it once as trial... It is amazing especially highlight botton on stylus itself.... I had mx3 already and it is good also and if it has similar highlight stylus botton like Sony , it will be the best of best (software of onyx is amazing) .. If I don't have Max3 I would buy Sony... I use it for pdf's

my main gripe with the Paypyr after 9 months of use is the battery life. For an e-ink device it should not need daily charging!

I have Remarkable 2. It has some issues. For example, there is difference between how you write when you're writing at the edge of the tablet. I mean, all the tablet is good. But edge of the tablet has problems and not the same as the middle of tablet. After research, I realized there is not better tablet than remarkable 2, and all of them has its own problem. That's why I did not return my remarkable table. I hope that its problems get solved in remarkable 3.

I just discovered that I cannot see PDF annotations with my rM2 that were made on PDF's from the Onyx Boox Nova 3. Either Boox is using a proprietary method or Remarkable is not reading the PDF correctly. This is a gotcha for my workflow. Now I am curious about PDF annotation portability across Papyr, Supernote, Boox, and Remarkable.

QuirkLogic Papyr and Supernote A6X can both read the Boox annotated PDF. My mistake might be using Remarkable for A5 size note taker. Maybe others have mentioned this shortcoming before but I am disappointed in Remarkable software on this point. Before this the Remarkable 2 was critical in my flow but now I have to rethink the dozens of documents I have edited on Boox and will not be able to use on rM2. I use the Boox for the screen lighting at night and Remarkable 2 all day long.

Hey JB, did you say Papyr converts PDFs in their format and then you can convert an annotated Papyr file into a PDF again if you want to keep the annotated document? Also, how does highlighting work on Papyr?

iPad. Or Microsoft Surface. Forget the e-inks for that. Frustratingly sluggish. Also Android's version of OneNote - at least until last year - is too limited on features.

Nothing is doing a really great job yet that’s part of the problem we’re trying to find something they can integrate with Onenote Besides the iPad and Samsung and Surface etc.

The QUADERNO is a great device, I sold mine months ago when Papyr got SplitScreen which is what I was using it for so I didn’t need it anymore. Have they been updating the software?. Curious if they added a reader - thanks
