@@morningcoach It is exactly what I need. Something digital to replace physical paper and pencil. Since I already have Samsung Galaxy S7 to do pretty much anything for me, I need a device with nothing but writing and reading and that is the rM2. Again thanks for the review. It is an awesome device!

Is the Remarkable 2 better than the new upgraded Supernote A6X?

@@michaelbusche6338 I can't speak on the A6X because all I have is the Supernote 5. I will say that if you have to replace nibs on a pen, I will accept that the Supernote isn't as good of a writing feel as the reMarkable version 1, but I like not having to replace nibs. I also like the Lamy pen with the Supernote, and those tips are plastic, and I have only had to replace one in 3 months.

You know I don't, I think the rm2 will be fine for you. They are not the best "readers" but will work. The Supernote is a really odd device that some LOVE or Hate is not much middle ground from what my subscribers say.....

The supernote runs on a very stripped down and custom version of android. You open the book, you can start to write right away like with a real notebook. OS is super clean. They dont allow google play and sideloading but offer more useful functionality than the rm2 does (email, dropbox for example). The a6x homescreen is your notebooks just like the remarkable. Software wise the update interval of ratta is second to none, they committed to update their devices every month PLUS they are extremely active with their userbase. They are fast and easy to get in touch with and ASK a LOT how their users use their devices and what they want. These insights go into the updates extremely fast. Next in line will be searchable handwriting for example. I asked around and people told me the a6x feeling is more like a ballpoint on a notebook (not a single sheet of paper as it does simulate the "give" you experience writing in a bullet journal). Me personally i dont like the pencil on paper feel, i like the ballpoint feel way more. Being able to just open it and write right away is huge for me as i use it mainly for fast bullet pointing, process flow drafting, to do lists on the fly and meeting notes. When you, like me, look for something to replace a A5 sized moleskin, there is actually no device that mimics everything about it better than the supernote a6x. If you write A LOT (like a writer) or love to sketch a lot maybe the rm2 will be more suited for you. However, be aware that if you actually need to post process your sketches the RM2 has a major downside with how it processes the lines. Google "remarkable jagged lines". Its pretty awful and most likely a red flag for people who need to use their sketches professionally. A MAJOR difference is customer support between the two companies. They are worlds apart. Its like mercedes versus.. i dunno.. dacia (dont know maybe they have perfect customer service but you get what i try to say).

The Supernote A6X is a GREAT device. How do you like the writing, most people either love it or hate it.... I don't mind it!!! I like it the feel - thanks for letting me know.

@@morningcoach I like the writing. But then, this is my first e-ink writing device so I don't have anything to compare. I don't really like the Supernote stylus though, I prefer writing with the Staedtler (sp?) pencil. Thanks for mentioning that in another video!

I would tend to disagree about having more functionality. These are designed to be note-taking devices. They do that well (despite this video being a couple years old and mentioning the lack of some features that have been added.) The last thing I want when I'm focused on taking notes, drawing a sketch, or whatever, is alerts going off, or being distracted by email. The keyboards on these aren't all that so composing an email or reply would be deadly painful. As far as writing, I'll take the reMarkable's paper experience over the "slippery" experience any day. Think about when you have to sign your name at a checkout counter and it really doesn't look like your signature. Yeah, that.

@@ChuckTomasi but you are focusing on a tiny minority of people, my point is that a lot more people would buy them if we had functioning calendars, email and other basic functions. If you want to sell few of them, design it for few people, bit then you go broke. Design it for more people and you sell more, ad profit grows.

@@johnmonk66 You make a reasonable (and respectable) counterpoint - something that seems to be increasingly rare on the internet these days. The good news is that the options are growing. Boox has their Note Air (and Note Air 2) that are built on Android and can connect to the Android store for more apps, so yes, you can do other things with that device. Amazon is coming out with the Kindle Script soon which will be their entry into the note taking devices as well. I'm looking forward to hearing some real reviews on that.
