Judai getting top spot makes since. In season 3 you can start to see how sick and tired he is from having to save duel academy from all of the villians from each season. Judai dueled 5 of the 7 shadow riders from season 1. I firmly believe that Judai wanted the other GX characters to pull their weight around in the series.

Except Judai didn't get the top spot. Yami Yugi/Yugi combined dueled 79 times in Takahashi's source material. As a separate character, Yami Yugi dueled 53 times.

@@flameman1188 Yeah Judai beat 5 of the shadow riders. Like my comment above season 3 is where Judai started getting tired of saving every ones ass all the time. Just my 2 cents.

He also beat Sartorius which was pretty clearly the guy Edo was supposed to beat. Imagine if Piccolo killed Frieza instead of Goku. It would be fucking horrible.

The fact that Yuga, once again, out perform Yusaku is frickin hilarious. Not to mention how seven treated its character with more fairness in dueling disturbances is insane to me. I mean Romin having more on screen duels more than Asuka, Aoi and even Aki is just madness.

Yu-Gi-Oh Sevens was easily the most spread out in terms of character focus, so it's no surprise that Yuga was ranked lower than most protags.

@@voxomnes9537 Not really, in past series you either become a card, data or you die if you lose a duel so the past main characters almost always had to win, but in SEVENS it was a fresh air that characters could lose and stay alive.

Some of Judai’s duels were either unforgettable or filler duels but I’m not surprised that he has dueled the most out of the whole Yugioh franchise. How about for the next video idea: all of the Easter eggs in each of the Yugioh series?

May I recommend ranking every Maximum Monster? We might see them later in Go Rush but I think it can work since there’s enough Maximums to make ranking list for Sevens at least. We have 6 Maximum Monster’s overall in the anime (Yggdrago, both Magum Over Roads, Wyrm Excavator, Vast Vulcan and Dynamix) so that’s a decent amount.

I mean Judai is not picky, he has a pure heart and will duel anyone anytime. Him and Tsukumo are my very favourites.

Yeah I figured it would be THAT character for having more duels than a protag, VRAINS was really short and even though it was longer than SEVENS it 100% had more 2 parters and such than SEVENS to help even it out along with DM being the longest and Joey having as many duels as Yugi in Battle City and in Duelist Kingdom and Virtual World he had only one less duel than Yugi and I BELIEVE the same goes for the Orichalcos arc (bear with me I'm going off memory here it might be 2) so it's only fitting.

Funny how the higher spots are for the protagonists that obviously it has to be that way but I’m surprised that playmaker had less duels than yuga

Imo it makes sense for Playmaker. There were less villains and barely any grunts. Yugi was taking down Rare Hunters and Judai taking on multiple 1 episode duels with characters of the day, while Playmaker only dueled when necessary for his goals

I knew Jaden dueled alot in GX, but DANG, 78 TIMES?! But then again, the only version I've seen of GX was the 4KIDS version, so at the time, I didn't even know another season existed, so I guess in that respect, it actually makes sense why Jaden has the most duels by a very wide margin!

8 being the lowest amount in the top 30 is a bit surprising, especially given how prominent many of these characters are. These aren’t here for an arc or two and never mentioned again characters. These are frequently featured ones who have spotlight episodes and a good chunk of them don’t even hit double digits when it comes to duels. Guess when I write my OC story I should keep an eye on how I distribute the duels between my small band of protagonists.

I figure as long as you don't do what GX did with Judai you're good. It's kind of ridiculous that he had that many duels when there are so many characters to choose from in the series. Like how Asuka and Edo combined didn't have as many as Manjoume even though you could count all 3 as prominent characters

I am guessing between Jaden, Yuya and Yuma? Yuma Shark and Kite were the ones who dueled the most in Zexal and Yuma dueled a lot more than the two. Yuya, despite Standard and Synchro having more diversity, I believe Yuya had the most duels going forward. With Jaden, there were a lot of one episode duels that Jaden was a part of and he also almost defeated the Shadow Riders, Society of Light, dueled a lot more in season 3.

the biggest problem i always had with gx is that while i love the series, i hate how much filler there is. its where half of jadens wins come from. random filler characters that show up specifically for the episode then they duel jaden and are never seen again

Season 1 itself has more filler than important episodes, takes 28 episodes for the Shadow Riders to appear and even then mostly ignored, you could cut season 1 in half and miss nothing

That's why I love GX honestly. I'm watching Yugioh to...you know, watch Yugioh. If I wanted to watch a drama I'd go watch a drama. Not to say I dislike the actual plot or anything, but letting me just breath with the characters doing what I want to watch is what I love about GX.

@@varisrevolver4061 I disagree, most of the episodes in the first half of season 1 served to introduce characters and elements from the show. It focused a lot on the character development of each, and stuff like that. Season 2 is where it really just loses itself to the vilain of the week format

Funny thing though about GX: all these yugioh characters showed up in early on in the show except maybe for crow who showed in like ep 30 but Jesse Anderson showed up the latest coming in at ep 106 from that top 30s group and still placed in the top 20s. Chazz had the 2nd most yes and Ryo had third but they been there since ep 1.If Jesse came in ealier he probably would have made the second highest in Gx. Cause Jesse possessed leadership qualities there is no doubt he would've eased Jaden's burden ealier on and taken some of the duels in his place while everyone else just relied on Jaden for the big wins.

Having looked through the spreadsheet, I think you might have added Jack's duels from 5Ds and Arc V together. It looks like there's only 16 duels for Jack within the 5Ds tab. Also, no wonder Jaden's sick of duelling by season 4.

That's insane that Playmaker and Vrains in general didn't have that many duels. Though him dueling in almost half makes sense the fact that in the final part of the show he only duels once is bizarre. Compare that to 5Ds and Yusei was dueling in what seemed like every 4 or 5 episodes by comparison

In seasons 1-2 of GX, Jaden would have a bunch of one off duels against a bunch of scrubs that would each last an episode. What would also happen is Jaden would either rematch a lot, or he some other character would lose to the villain and he would have to step in. Unlike a show like DM or 5ds which distributed the major wins to Joey/Kaiba or the other signers, respectively. Basically, Jaden only won so much because Cyrus, Chazz, Zane, Bastian, Jim, even Jesse, etc couldn’t win for shit

Nah not Jim & Jesse - they were only introduced in S3 (rather than in the literal first episode) & immediately started pulling their weight duel-wise. Jim's progress was a bit slower & less prevalent than Jesse's (especially as he didn't appear at all in S4) but he was still an excellent duelist - his only loss was against the Supreme King; Jesse won more than his fair share of duels, even while possessed, & basically carried the entire group (including Jaden) in the first alternate dimension. All of his losses throughout the show were either _to_ Jaden or _to protect_ Jaden.

It didn't surprise me that Yuma was involved in so many duels, the goal was to find all the number cards, so obviously he has to duel a lot. Zexal has a huge main cast, i would have definitely liked to see other characters get the spotlight more often too. (not the unnecessary school friends though 😩)

Luke is such a good duelist that the only time he lost an onscreen duel was when Yuga literally added a Sevens Road Magician to his deck in the middle of the duel.

@@calebgraham6166 Yuga didn’t cheat, the thing is he put the ID card in and make that card Sevens Road Magician, it is just like adding Sevens Road Magician to the deck before the duel started, he still draw the card from the deck so technically it is a legal play. So Yuga beat Rook fair and square.

One question: you obviously didn't count off-screen duels, or else Jack would have taken the top slot. Did you count duels that we only saw some of, like Yugi's duel against Vivian?

Jonouchi dueled Yami Yugi/Yugi 187 straight times off screen preparing for Duelist Kingdom in Takahashi's source material. It was only shown quickly in a flashback. The scene and dialogue were removed form the anime. Plus, Yami Yugi/Yugi combined dueled 79 times in Takahashi's source material. As a separate character, Yami Yugi dueled 53 times.

And if we assume that he lost them all, as is likely, especially if the Pharaoh were mostly involved...than that COMPLETELY outdoes the nonsense of gauging Yuma and Tetsuo's winrates when the latter beat the former 24 times off-screen.

@@christopherb501 lol The characters talked about it in the final chapter of Duelist Kingdom (Japanese: Ch. 133/ English: Duelist Ch. 74). Jonouchi states that he is 0 W 187 L vs Yami Yugi/Yugi during that 1 week of preparation. There's a lot the DM anime removed from the story.

Which summoning mechanic was used the most common often. Everything from ritual to maximum summoning. I guess you can include tribute, normal, flip summoning for the whole top 10 part of the video.

If I had to guess based off of your criteria then normal would obviously win since it's the easiest. Though if we're going based off of each series gimmick (fusion synchro etc) then I'd say fusion Xyz and synchro would probably be the top ones

Wouldn't Manjoume have idk more duels or is this counting only on screen duels because he beat most of the obelisk blue after joining the cult of light and then after quitting the cult beat most of the white dorm at the end of the tournament.

I don't know Yuma would probably be really high up too since if you count each Utopia monster (since they're different extra deck monsters on their own) then he had like 3 or 4 times in some duels where he summoned Utopia then Utopia Ray

Yuga actually dueled 29 times dylan.there was a one off duel in 27.the other two duels I have no idea where but I think the one of duels during the so called tournament even though it wasn’t.

To be fair, GX also had a gigantic 'main character' group, many of whom rotated in and out of focus across the series. For some context, Johann/Jesse is in the top 30, despite the fact that he doesn't have his first duel until episode 107; fifteen episodes after Sevens would have ended.

even without clicking and watching the video know Judai would be #1 This is part of the reason why I have a problem linking GX , Judai takes like 90% of the duels while the other 10% is shared between the rest of the characters
