Ok, here’s the deal. Your editing is extremely good. Some reactors will deliver their reaction in the same number of minutes, and completely obliterate any sense of the story’s narrative. You include all the important things, and give your viewer something coherent. Yes, I’ve seen this movie a hundred times, and know EVERYTHING that happens. But it’s nice to see the spine of this movie preserved in your editing process. Just please don’t spend fewer minutes. This is the sweet spot.

Marion Ravenwood is the best sidekick Indiana Jones ever had. If you like Karen Allen, definitely check out these films: Animal House (1978), The Wanderers (1979), Starman (1984) and Scrooged (1988). She also had a supporting role in Spike Lee's "Malcolm X" with Denzel Washington in 1992, as Miss Dunne. If you're in the mood for a good drama have a look at "The Glass Menagerie" (1987) directed by Paul Newman, again with Karen Allen. Aside from her role in Raiders of The Lost Ark, I would personally recommend Starman and Scrooged next.

A father brought his young son and daughter to it and they were sitting in front of me. The kids were maybe 8 or 9. When the melting face part came on they started crying. He had to take them out of there. They were really upset. I loved how Indy got fed up and shot the guy with the giant sword! It made my soda come out my nose! Thoroughly enjoyed the movie. @14:15, I love this scene Indy is so heartbroken over his Marion, he is ready to say "F all of this" and go out guns blazing as long as Belloq comes with him. Despite him being such a bad a$$ man of adventure, Indy is just a man in love. Surprisingly its a love he didn't really know he felt so strongly. In this moment he isn't even worried about the mission anymore. His mind is all on Marion. This is one of the lowest points in the series for Indy emotionally. I think what makes the character Indiana Jones such an enduring cinematic icon is that he isn't a superhero. Throughout this movie, he quite often gets his butt handed to him. We see him struggling with the wounds and bumps from this adventure. But he has a can do spirit and doesn't give up despite the odds. By comparison, the heroes of today's films barely look fazed by their struggles. That's why we root so hard for him.

This was the first VHS tape my grandmother bought for me, it probably cost a fortune back then. Right when VCRs were getting into homes, I'll never forget it. Being on this planet awhile does have its advantages, as long as you manage to stay out of serious trouble. The sequel is watchable with a weak female companion, but a few impressive scenes as well. The third entry is highly recommended, which should be a good time for you. Keep up the good work.

Don't listen to the haters and give your own opinion of Temple of Doom. It is different that the first movie but it's still a fun film. I really want to see your reaction of Crystal Skull because you are coming into these without years of nostalgic expectations that haunted the release of CS. I will relish in your one liners even if you don't like it but I have some appreciation for Crystal Skull that some people don't agree with.

Fun facts about Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) (1) Harrison Ford Wasn’t the First Choice to Play as Indy. The first choice was Tom Selleck. Selleck was already set to play the character, but when CBS found out that the star of their popular show Magnum P.I., was going to star in a movie, they didn’t allow Selleck to appear in Raiders of the Lost Ark. (2) The famous scene in which Indy shoots a marauding and flamboyant swordsman wasn’t in the original script. Harrison Ford was supposed to use his whip to get the sword out of his attacker’s hands, but the food poisoning he and the rest of the crew had gotten, made him too sick to perform the stunt. After several unsuccessful tries, Ford suggested, “shooting the sucker.” Steven Spielberg immediately agreed and the scene was successfully filmed. (3) Steven Spielberg originally wanted Danny DeVito to play Sallah, and DeVito was set for the role, but he had to drop out, due to conflicts with Taxi. DeVito later appeared as a second banana to Michael Douglas in the Raiders tribute and derivatives, Romancing the Stone.

Assuming you'll be watching Temple of Doom next, try to go into it with adjusted expectations. A lot of people dislike it. Also be aware that it has a much darker tone, while also being much more over-the-top and cartoony. It's almost like they made a horror movie in which Indiana Jones was inserted to save the day. And it *is* ridiculously over-the-top in its pacing and gags. I think the viewer's attitude determines whether those are weaknesses or strengths. I think once you accept beforehand that it's going to have faults, and that it *will* be different than Raiders, it's easier to enjoy it and to spot how creative and daring it was. I will also say that Doom has some of the best, most inventive sequences in the entire Indy franchise, and it has one of Ford's most charismatic performances.
