I learned how to make fried chicken exactly like you describe doing it with the exception of peanut oil. I learned using lard. I am 62, learned from my mother who learned from her mother. They came from southeastern Kentucky. I treasure every moment spent with my mother. I pray we get a second chance in heaven to let our loved ones know just how much they were loved while God allowed them to be on His earth. Ms. Lori you are loved.

Ms. Lori I wish I could give you a big hug right now!!! Because of you, I made strawberry jam today for the first time ever and it turned out amazing! You are so encouraging and your videos are easy to follow and you take it step by step as if you are right here with me. I can't tell you how much joy it has brought to me today. I kept repeating your words in my mind, " take your time and if you make a mistake it's ok", I always trust you for the best advice and I just want you to know how much I appreciate everything you do. I know this doesn't have much to do with this video, but I needed to share my day with you and let you know how special and what a blessing you and Pa are to me. I love you and Mr. Brown and hope you have a blessed weekend.🫂❤😀

My grandmother, my mother and I all fry our chicken just like this. We don't let it sit in buttermilk or batter it with eggs. Simply dip in flour, season with salt and pepper and pan fry. So delicious, but for some reason, my Grandma's chicken was the best of all of ours.

Hi Ms Lori… my favorite food videos are always about homemade dough of some kind. Miss Lori my mother made fried pies all the time. My Dad was a coal miner here in southwestern part of Virginia, and mother would make fruit pies and meat pies. Daddy would take them to work in his dinner bucket. My Dad’s mother or Mama as we called her, made the best fried chicken. It was like she had magic hands, every thing she cooked was mouth watering delicious. And when I watched you making fried pies and your grandmas fried chicken, the memories of those Sunday’s at Mamaw and Papaws house came pouring over me. Thank you and Mr Brown for all you do to encourage and teach people of all ages on how to live a sustainable life, whether you have just a plot of land or 10 acres of land, any thing is possible but you have to be willing to work at it. Mr Brown I wish you a very Blessed Happy Father’s Day.

Here in Michigan as far as meat pies go. We have a thing called the Patsies the originate out of upper Michigan. We call the U.P. and they have meat in it, Rutabagas, potatoes. A lot of people put different things in it, but that's usually the main ingredient. Little bit of gravy. Very delicious. That's my remembrance of meat pies and all. There's tons of different versions out there, but they are great. They're one of my favorites. They're absolutely delicious! I would love to see you Do another meat pie recipe that'd be awesome!. I love growing Herbs! I love to smell them and the Mint is delicious! This is how all us southern women fry chicken. Salt, pepper and flour and put in a pan of hot grease or lard! I like using lard but its gotten so hard to find. I don't get enough fat to render down anymore! Can't afford it and our pig farmers are hanging on to what they have for harder times n family! Nothing as good as homemade fried pies no matter what kind you make! That's the way my Mama and family, neighbors, or anybody I ever knew made their crust! My mouth was watering so bad when I saw the pear preserves! I love to eat them in pies, biscuits, on toast, English muffins or by them selves! Love to sop my biscuit in the juice! Absolutely delicious. I grew up on homemade and lived homemade. With 13 of us, we were just simple plain ole poor country folk and at 67, I'm still that way! One thang for sure, we had love, happiness and Jesus in our family! Can't get no better than that here in the mtns of Ga... Thank you Miss Lori.. Happy Fathers Day Mr Brown! My mom always made rice and country gravy with fried pork chops. It was one of my favorite meals as a kid. I still love to make it myself. There's nothing like country gravy made with those crispies from the bottom of the fry pan! Fried pies......goodness! I, like my mom and my grandmother, add some corn starch to the flour for extra crispness and double flour the chicken. We never forget the small amount of cayenne pepper, too. It does something to the chicken that makes it delicious. Lol. Love all your recipes......they bring back wonderful memories. ❤️

At the end she did not know me, which was so sad. But watching you reminds me of how she used to cook when I was growing up and beyond. I am 70 years old and I had lost much of the cooking skills my mama taught me. You are rekindling my love of cooking and reminding me of many of the recipes I used to make. My TEXAS Mamaws never knew anything but hard work but their homes were full of love and I loved staying with them and helping in their kitchens with my Mama. My Dad’s Mom made the very best fried chicken in her cast iron skillet every Sunday for our dinner (lunch) after church. My Mom’s mother would let me help snap fresh green beans from her garden on her front porch in the summer and my Papaw would bring us fresh small round watermelons he grew for our dessert. The very best memories are these simple ones that were the fruits of their hard labor. PRICELESS! ❤❤❤

This video brings back memories of childhood in the 1950-60’s. One of my grandmothers would wring the chicken’s neck until it came off. Then my brother and I chased the headless chicken around the yard until it fell over. Grandma would then dip it up and down a few times in hot water in the black wash pot. Then she’d pick off the feathers to be kept to make pillows with. The fresh fried chicken at supper time was delicious. In south Arkansas fried fruit and chocolate pies are popular food items to sell for fundraising. Keep the videos coming.

Hey, Miss Lori 💚💗. I love your herbs hanging around! My grandma always had her own chickens and wrung their necks, dipped them in hot water, plucked them, singed them, gutted them and cleaned them up. Quite a process! My mama always used whole chickens and taught me how to cut one up getting the pulley bone out. She just used SR flour, salt and pepper on the chicken and everyone thought my mom’s chicken was the best, and it was ❤. Love your fried pie dough recipe!!!

My great grandparents were from Arkansas. She also used simple flour & s&p to fry her chicken. She used a brown paper grocery bag to shake it up & coat the chicken well. She never used buttermilk or eggs either. Always used cast iron & till this day I don't fry chicken in anything but my family's cast iron skillet.
