Haha! Thanks, Nick. I still get a kick out of people watching, much less commenting on this video. Despite having been some kind of technician most of my life, I'm not at all adept with most household repairs, so it seems kind of ironic to me.

No, this was just from the door not latching shut. We get the blinking light too, though. It's some kind of error, probably a temperature sensor. We have to run the sink on hot every ten minutes or so (I hate this dishwasher, but we're renting). To get rid of it, press high temp wash, heated dry, high temp wash, heated dry, and start.

You can actually Google about the lights blinking and it will tell you what code it is and what is needed to fix it.

I vaguely recall something like that happening. I think maybe I had the striker upside down. Or maybe it just wouldn't latch until I'd installed it. Sorry, hopefully that's some help, but that was a few houses ago 😂

I am having the same problem you described about having to apply pressure repeatedly throughout the cycle to get it to work. I am a widow and can’t afford to pay a repairman. How did you fix your dishwasher?

@@GApawpawandnana Sorry, missed this one. If just applying a bit of pressure makes it work, I don't think you have the exact problem I did. Likely a poor seal or a bent hinge is moving the latch away from the striker, sending a signal to the dishwasher that the door is open, turning it off so you don't get a lot of water. If you can't fix it by wiping down the door and washer edge with Windex or rubbing alcohol or by spraying the hinges with some WD40, you might want to think about replacing it (not a good enough unit to warrant repair unless you know someone handy)

Fryd, it was actually my fault. I was trying to check out what was going on inside when the unit would alarm out, so I thought putting a butter knife in the latch would defeat the interlock. Instead, it tweaked the latch out of position so it wouldn't lock closed

I'm so sorry, Jen. Any chance it was previously replaced? The good news is that it's apparently a pretty cheap part (something like $5, as I recall) if you have to replace it, and if you have to call a repair person, they should be able to fix it right quick. But even if it's not quite the same, it should still be pretty similar. Grab a pair of pliers and, if you have delicate hands like me, a hand towel or something and play around with it for a bit and see if you can figure it out. I'm really not that mechanically inclined, so if I can figure it out... Watch out for that spring if it has one. And good luck.

What problem were u fixing? mine won't stay latched during cycles. Also takes 4 hours to completely cycle. I don't think that's correct for it to take that long

@@timetomakeauturn that is the problem I've been seeming to have.... I will hear the washer suddenly just stop mid-cycle.... And only way to get it to commence washing is to lift up very slightly under the release lever u use to normally open your washer. Very slight pressure is key here, but then it starts off where it left off, unless I let go of the latch lol.... (Which I have to do obviously as I can't stand around all day like that haha) .... And then, like yours, mine will say it "completed" it's cycle like 4 hrs later with "clean" illuminated in green, yet upon opening the washer, the dishes tell a very different story.... Unless I basically wash them ahead of time of anything stuck on, etc, they will not appear clean, nor are they dry despite having the "heat dry" option on. So this leads me to conclude the latch isn't totally broke, just may need some tuning/tightening/realignment to get the connections right again.

No, just pulled it out of the retainer holes, compressed the spring mechanism back in, then slid the bar back into the retainer holes. I think. This was a couple of years ago.

Kind of. It wouldn't start because it didn't detect the door being closed. If your door latches, though, it's probably a temperature sensor issue, since that's pretty common with these things. You can reset it with the right button combo, but you'll have to read one of the comments above for it. I've forgotten it over the years

Heh. Did you miss the part where I mentioned I was risking "electrocution and near certain death"? But the truth is, there are likely little to no circuits in the door panel running on more than 5 VDC control voltages, including the interlock circuit you mentioned, (which just sends a signal to the controller that your door is closed so you don't end up spraying water all over the place)

Lmfao at 110 watts....came here looking for comments on other potential issues with links to a fix, if any, and find a good laugh. I'll do a vid and show the watts you speak of, but also if it'll be 5VDC or greater but unless it has a diode array to switch it from AC to DC I doubt it'll be DC. Already pulled my panel and had no watts transferred or harmed in the endeavor, but sadly my issue not fixed....yet.
