K&L wines in San Francisco. Either their 1792 full proof store pick, ECBP B523 or the Redwood Empire Devil's Tower. I went with the Redwood 😊 @89.99. call it FOMO due to the limited 25 barrels

For me, I got a peerless double oak bourbon and a old pepper distillery, finest oak. Not the most expensive bottles, but they are kind of allocated.

Patience is key lesson I learned when bourbon hunting. I passed on a lot of bottles this year that I thought were too high priced only to find them later at a much lower price. As an example I passed on high priced Stagg only to find it at Walmart for MSRP a few weeks later. I also passed on the wild turkey generations because I thought it was too expensive at $450. I was fortunate this year to get 135th limited edition for roses at MSRP. Please keep up the great content.

Nice malt finds with Daft mill and Blue Spot at those prices. Blue Spot isn’t a single malt but an Irish single pot still. Its a combination of malted and unmalted barley. Its will have different flavors from a single malt. Great stuff

Good video. Couple things I picked up in JAN: Bunch of Rare Breeds (Looking for the old label). I hear the new label isn't as good. Bunch of KY spirits. Heard it was going away. Hearing different stuff now lol. 1792 FP Old Pepper BP WT101s Basically got a bunch of backup Turkeys plus couple others.

That is a great hall. I mean those single malts were great pick ups. I think you should review those together because in my experience, Loland scotch, kind of taste like Irish whiskey.

So I passed on Old Forester 1924 for $125. I also passed on a E.H. single barrel for $130. I passed on them bcuz the bottle I was hunting was KC15. The price was $150. My reasoning was to complete my KC age stated collection. KC15 isn't available where I live. The bottles I passed on I'm pretty sure I'll see again. Love the new editing on bottle reveal😂. Unfortunately I had just missed the J.J.Bowman for $70. I value your opinion and look forward to the JJ review. Cheers.

Hey Jonathan! No sure I would have choose the same fate and passed on the bottles you did, but I totally understand your situation! I did the same thing to complete the "Hardin's Creek" set this year with the Clermont, Frankfort, and Boston 😆. I'm hoping you enjoy the KC15 as it is a wonderful pour! Hey David, Your single malt selections are intriguing. I "THINK" I'm more of a bourbon/rye guy but the cask strength Yellowstone I found is definitely growing on me. Wouldn't it be nice if the bottles you passed on were a little more reasonably-priced. I think these days most of the producers and retailers know the market will be there, so why not mark it up. Too bad retired guys like me have to stick to a more reasonable price point (boo hoo - pity - party). Can't wait for the highly detailed reviews you are known for. See ya soon my friend. D

Hey Dana! If the prices were little bit better on the bottles I passed on, I would have purchased them! Not that much but like 20% (i.e. Yellowstone LE was $110 instead of $140, I probably would have purchased it). But they don't need to do that, like you said, as the market is there and all those bottles I passed on is sold out I'm sure by now. Oh well, I'll keep passing and waiting as now I have plenty to drink for a while 😁. That 4 Roses LE pick up was an awesome one so I can't complain. @@WhiskeyBank I know I let you in on my last few but can’t remember where I stopped. I picked up 9 Staggs and 10 Weller 12yr and made some trades that I think I told you about. On Monday I scored 3@ GT Staggs , 2@ Thomas H Handy, 2@ Rock Hill Farms, 1@ Elmer T Lee, 5 more Blanton’s, 1@ Blanton’s Gold, 5@ E H Taylor straight Rye, 2 more Eagle Rares, 2@ Sagamore PX, 1@ Sagamore 8yr, and one JDSBBP!! I have been making a few trades and my sons both got a GTS and my friends grabbed a few and paid what I paid! Spread the treasure is my motto! Too bad you’re not closer, I’m sure we could trade something! Keep up the great reviews, really enjoy them! Cheers!

Great video David. I’m so glad so are rejecting Dry January and are encouraging people to drink as much as humanly possible. My January haul was as follows: A case of Eagle Rare 3 bottles of Weller Antique 107 4 bottles of EH Taylor Small Batch 1 bottle of Weller Full Proof I’m definitely going to have to put the brakes on for a while on my purchases. I’ve never had any of these bottles but look forward to trying them. Thanks again for all of the great content. You are truly the “Boss of Bourbon”

I have had the Peerless High Rye...it's probably their best expression. If you like the Peerless DO and the Bourbon....you'll enjoy that one.

Nice video David. You are not missing anything by passing on the Angel Envy Cask Strength. Not that good. I passed on the Woodford Reserve 2024 Batch Proof. It was $160! I really like the Ironroot Harbinger. Jacob’s Well 211 is so good that I bought a backup. I am jealous on the Four Roses 135th Anniversary LE. Have not seen it for less than $460. My cousin bought one for $190. My January Haul was good. Picked up 18 bottles on my trip to KY and TN, including 3 bottles of Old Forester 1924 and a Larceny BP A124. 🥃

Some nice pickups. I hope I can pull one of those Four Roses this year. This month I passed on an EHT single barrel and Larceny A123 at my local Albertsons. I did pickup a Grizzly Beast at Hi Times, Eagle Rare Total Wine pick and a Rock Hill Farms from Albertsons. Looking to pick up a Devils’s Tower from Redwood Empire next. There are just too many I want to try right now

I don't remember much about Rock Hill Farms as the last time I had a pour of it was years ago. @@WhiskeyBank I just didn’t care for the price at the store. Albertsons is $111 for that bottle. I’m patient and will hold out in hopes to get it at Total Wine for $70. That RHF bourbon is very good. It’s got a brown sugar, caramel taste to me. Very easy and smooth to drink. I’d never pay the crazy secondary price but at msrp that’s an easy pickup

@@WhiskeyBank nothing super allocated but I got a couple online actually I really like, the O.K.I. Single Barrel Bourbon 'Repeal Day' Trilogy - Act 1 & a JT Meleck Cask Strength Pick. Plus a Southern Collective “Return of the King” which is a 16 yr light whiskey finished in Pinot casks. Also finally found my first Blantons in December 😂

Dont blame you for passing up anything that you did not get this month. January I didnt get too much. Im trying to slow down a bit this year. Im running out of space and I just have too much bourbon. Is it that much better than the regular Blanton's? Also, let me know your thoughts on the Redwood Empire devil's tower and foggy burl when you have a pour or two. Haha. The blantons and eh taylor were pure luck. Found em both at walmart on a whim. Haven’t opened the blantons gold yet. When I do I’ll let you know! The devils tower and foggy burl were both fantastic. Both were unlike anything I’ve ever had before. The devils tower has this awesome fruity spicy thing going on for it. The foggy burl is fruity and chocolaty. Both are delicious in their own way. Then Ben Holloday was ok, it wasn’t as good as whiskeytube would make you think it would be. It will probably be the last bottle I get. The bardstown bottle in bond or origin series is much better for like $20 less.

Im a huge redwood empire fanboy so I dont know if they are worth $90. I did thoroughly enjoy them both. Im not sure how much you enjoy asm but I thought the foggy burl was a little bit better but not by much. Please let me know what you think about the ben holloday! It wasnt bad. But for $60 and being really hard to find ( atleast in my area). Im not going out of my way to find it again.

I have to say that I also really dig the intro. It makes me smile. I also like the effects introducing each bottle. Just keep having fun. Lastly, great pick up with that four roses.

Thanks Dean! You're the first to comment regarding the "introduction" of the bottles edit. I'm just trying new things to try to keep it fresh and hopefully fun. If it doesn't work, I'll probably skip it next time, but I had fun doing it so hopefully it was fun watching it 😆. Thanks again for everything!

Hey Edwin! I have not opened the Ironroot yet as I'm thinking about how I should make a video on the bottle. Was thinking about comparing it to the still Austin cask strength but wanted to give it some thought. Literally can’t find 4Roses LE anywhere for under $500

It is very very hard to find and I was very lucky to get one at that price! Before I found it at close to MSRP, I also did not find it for under $400 so it took a lot of patience and luck to get it. I'm sure 2024 will be your year and you'll be able to get some BTACs at MSRP!! 😆 Thank you so much for your view and comment! Greatly appreciate it and cheers~
