White castle, Skenfrith and Grosmont are three medieval castles built on the border between England and Wales. Brought under one lordship by King Stephen, they provided the ultimate wall of defence. Further reinforcements were carried out by King Edward I, with the castles being attacked by the Earl of Pembroke, Henry III, Llewelyn the Great, and Owain Glyndwr before their gradual demise. Fans of Dr Who will recognise Skenfrith castle from the episode Amy's Choice with Matt Smith :)

I've been to all three when I drove around Wales exploring castles. Grosmont was really cool, hidden behind the little town. The Medieval church across the street is well worth the visit also!

Good luck chasing Camerlot it's a long journey. Ticking off the Castles on a massive list an excellent adventure. I got 100 + books some very old. All the Castles in the books are in a graph paper page no Castle type, what's left who made it what happened what individual features, who owns it now can you see it. Basically it's a foundation of a book I started in my 20s with lots of research. I visited literally 100s of Castles most of them on a cycle camping in strategic places so I could leave the camping equipment and visite more Castles in a day as possible in England Scotland and Wales. All fantastic some very inaccessible and dangerous. Good luck with the KZfaq Channel

this channel is great! You guys have great information on the castles, you have excellent footage and you are both really enthusiastic about the topic! I hope your channel keeps growing and you guys stay motivated to keep at it! I have been able to find lists of castles.....one website listed all the countries they were able to find castles in and then broke it down by county or region with each castle in that area having its own link for an article, usually with extra resources, like links and pictures as well as a mini wiki page or whatever, and that is great, but the problem with that was that some of the ruined castles had little information and very little to use to learn about them, they definitely didnt have any personalities and enthusiasm like you both have. Blah blah blah, that being said, your videos are a huge leap past that because even with ruins you are able to point out things like the chimney in this video, you had awesome drone shots, you were in the ruins, so scale was shown in more depth...blah blah blah, etc, lol. I am long winded, but this is perfect for someone like me who has an interest in everything castles and would look up the type of thing I mentioned above. This is TV quality!

Thanks so much for the feedback, Tommy, and so glad you love the channel! There’s a lot of research and work goes into the videos, and both Gavin and I are huge castles and history fans, so the enthusiasm is very real 😄

Your comments are not long winded at all Tommy, and thank you for them - one of our quests is to try to establish links to people and events and to keep it within a structure that is entertaining as well as informative. Your input is exactly the kind of stuff that helps hone the direction we take them in. We're adding some more features next year so watch the space!

A few Weslh & Scots tower castles have private owners who have fixed them up, and those give you a really good idea of how things were in the day. We generally only see grey stones & floors, but in their day they were full of carpets & wall hangings to keep warm, & sometimes limewashed walls, so it's an entirely different world inside in their time ! That's what makes it all so fascinating ! I adore castles !
