I think all diamonds can destroy and heal. Seeing as yellow said they've never tried to heal anyone or to reverse corruption before. Pink had to learn how to heal. She learned to be kinder after hurting volleyball. She was traumatized by what she did so she never wanted to destroy again. Hence why she doesn't shatter.

It seems that Pink Steven is White Diamond's big weakness and downfall.

My theory, is that Pink Steven represents Pink Diamonds destructive power. Pink was often ignored and mistreated by the other Diamonds, which made her angry frustrated, and awakened her destructive powers. But when she matured and became Rose Quartz, she awakened her healing powers when she grew to love Earth, humans and other Gems. White Diamond may have known about Pink’s destructive powers, and constantly punished her to keep her from using those powers. Though her punishments may have only made things worse. The Diamonds didn’t seem to know about Pink’s ability to heal others, because Pink didn’t feel as though the other Diamonds loved her...so her healing powers did not awaken during that time. Now if Steven becomes angry or frustrated, his destructive powers awaken. That’s just my theory though.

This makes so much sense because if y’all remember from “Legs from here to Homeworld”, after greeting Steven white states “Did you fun? *Did you get everything out of your system?*”. White Diamond not only knew about Pink’s powers but I feel that White actually encouraged her feats of strength.

IIRC, White implied that she created the other diamonds (including Pink) from herself. I have to wonder if the attributes of each Diamond also belonged to White before they were made. Perhaps in making Pink, White Diamond removed her own volatile temper and destructive power from herself because she saw them as a flaw. Could the enraged, pink-hued White Diamond from the antagonist panel be a flashback to before Pink was created?

I actually think that Volleyball's eye is actually the reason that she was taken away and replaced by Spinel and Pearl. It was said in the show that it was an incident involving Pink Diamond that got Volleyball replaced, and what more obvious reason would it be than literally breaking a Pearl. White didn't want anyone to fear Pink Diamond because of this so she took control so no one would find out. She didn't lie, but she also didn't tell anyone why Volleyball's eye was broken, making everyone fear White as she was the person in control when they learned of Volleyball's eye problem

It’s kinda crazy how each of the Diamonds demonstrate different destructive behaviors: Yellow ignores, and suppresses. Blue gaslights and guilt trips. White is passive aggressive, having a sick and weird way of... helping people to the point of stressing her out, and Pink, who physically abuses and runs away from her problems.

What if it was the creation of Pink Diamond what broke Home World though? Like foreshadowing to the power she holds~

I still like Rose. As to what Mega Pearl said “One knew that you mother was always trying to change, but didn’t know why.” Pink before our pearl was angry and couldn’t keep a secret. Pink with our pearl kept secrets and was able to control her temper to an extent but also abandoned others. Rose when she just started to protect Earth was more calm but still kept her secrets most likely to protect her pearl and others. She also viewed Earthlings as entertaining instead of people but view them as important. She was most likely calm because she felt as if she had a purpose. Rose after meeting and talking to Greg became much more calm. She loved him and gained a better understanding towards humanity. Most likely why she was going to become part of Steven is so she could grow with him. She knew that who she was was not great and maybe wanted a new start where she could understand humanity and be empathetic. She would gain the most growth if she was human.

THEORY ALERT: What if every time Pink acted up before she had a colony, she was REBOOTED. This would explain why Pink didn’t remember Spinel. And her fits of rage being the same over and over, because she was never allowed to grow because she was always starting over again and again, much to white diamonds dismay and influence most likely. They’ve been making Pink Diamond out to be such a horrible person but I feel like with how much effort she put into wanting to change they’re gonna hit us with a curve ball to explain and probably excuse some of her bad stuff.

Hear me out, because my theory is slightly different. I think that Pink Diamond may be the result of White purging the rage from herself. I think the version of white diamond we see in the opening is from a flashback, when her temper was as bad enough to make Blue and Yellow as afraid as they were of her, and in one of her worst tantrums she split homeworld in half. After seeing what she'd done, she purged the rage from herself and used some of it to create pink diamond. Pink is the literal mirror of white putting on a facade and being full of rage in private: her tantrums, breaking her pearl, starting a war just to get her own way. Even White said "As for me, I'm certain I don't *need* you...But you're a part of me, the part I always have to repress". If I'm right that version of White Diamond from the opening will either be a flashback to OG White before Pink was created or somehow White will fail to repress her rage anymore. It's the same pink tint that steven gets with his new rage-based Pink powers.

In one episode (I think the one where Steven is just discovering his floating powers) it's stated that rose's/pink's powers rely on her emotions so wouldn't it just make sense that when she got angry she would become destructive? Like, compared to the other diamonds, whose powers cannot go above a certain level without training or personal growth, Pink diamond's abilities can drastically change in power with just the change in her emotional state. Making her both the weakest and strongest diamond.

So, I saw this post on tumblr, and I think that it can properly explain Rose/PD. It's by keleficient. I was thinking about why Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond is so hated. The obvious answer is because of the horrible things she did. image But the other diamonds did horrible things too…worse things even. Pink abandoned Spinel, which is wrong, but Spinel was planning to kill every living thing on Earth to spite the son of a person who was no longer even alive. Yet, no one talks about what a monster Spinel is. So many Steven Universe characters have hurt people, but we forgive them and are happy to see them redeemed. So why not Rose? Then, it hit me: because Rose’s redemption arc is told to us in reverse. The first time we see Rose is toward the end of her life when she is pregnant with Steven. We see her appreciation for life and how full of love she is for Greg and her future child. She’s willingly sacrificing herself to bring a new life into the world. image But then, we start learning who Rose used to be, all her mistakes, all the people she hurt. The loving mother in Steven’s video becomes a distant memory. For those of you who hate Rose, imagine her backstory unfolded a little differently for us. We’re introduced to Pink Diamond: she’s spoiled, bratty, immature, irresponsible, and inconsiderate. She throws temper tantrums when she doesn’t get her way. image Not exactly an endearing character, right? But one day, her tantrum injure Pink Pearl, her best friend. From that day on, she keeps everything to herself. Now we see her dealing with a consequence of her bad behavior. Then we see how she’s abused by the other diamonds. We start to sympathize with her. image We see her try to save Earth. We see her trying to do the right thing for once. But it backfires horribly. image She spends the rest of her life trying to fix it, but she can’t. She meets Greg. Here is where Rose has the most emotional growth as a character. She learns what is truly means to be a “real person.” Finally, she grows such an appreciation for human life, that she decides to sacrifice her form to bring her son into the world. image The reason Rose is so much more controversial than other characters who have done problematic things is because her story is told in reverse, her redemption comes across as a fall from grace. But there are plenty of characters who have a fall from grace who are still not as controversial as Rose. The reason why many people are less sympathetic to Rose is because we never see how Rose reacts to her mistakes. We never get much insight into how Rose feels about herself and the things she’s done. We get small hints: ``I barely know you.`` *``That's a good thing.``* For everyone who hates Rose, I get why. But I think we need to remember who she became instead of who she was.

Friendly reminder because some people seem to be forgetting “Pink Steven” is not a separate being to Steven. The organic Steven we see without his Gem in Change Your Mind is just as much the real Steven as the Gem half is. They’re two halves of a whole. When separated, they see from each other’s perspective as well as their own. There is no “Steven and Pink Steven”. There’s just Steven. When separate, you just have the organic half of Steven and the Gem half. Organic Steven isn’t just the entire Steven without his Gem, just like Gem Steven isn’t just the entire Steven made of light. Neither are whole without the other. They’re one and the same. Two sides of the same coin that make up Steven.

Could Pink's destructive potential be the reason why she was finally granted her own colony? I find it interesting how Volleyball acknowledged Pink destructive potential, yet was the most dismissive and forgiving. While our Pearl, while admitting her Diamonds flaws, saw her as a healer. Vehemently denying the truth of Pink's past. This must be what Royal Pearl meant when she said one couldn't accept the scars of Pink's past. While the other couldn't the potential for Pink to change. Sadly ironic that it was those scars that resolved her to change.

I just realized something. Volleyball said that Pink Diamond did that to her eye out of a tantrum. When Stevonnie had a dream about Pink Diamond shattering a window out of a tantrum, maybe the window wasn't actually a window. Maybe the window was replaced by Volleyball. Volleyball said that Pink Diamond didn't know what was in front of her and Pink Diamond pictured a window instead of seeing Volleyball and she punched Volleyball in the face with her destructive power.

In legs from here to homeworld, yellow was confused when Steven brought up healing nephrite.

We need the full picture!! We still know so little of pinks life when she was an active ruling diamond and what she was really like before her colony. I know pink did some effed up stuff, but she obviously wasent entirely bad. The pebbles recognized Steven as pink because he said THANKS. And the rose quartz solders are adorable and sweet and caring. And the video for Steven pink left behind. And Greg's and the crystal gems love for her. I know that she was lying and caused a lot of heart ache but there had to be a reason. We're getting 2 completely different versions of who pink diamond was. Instead of thinking HOW could she do that, I want to know WHY did she do that? And was there even another option for her anyway? Could she escape her life, her role, her homeworld, if she did it any other way??

Her line "but you're a part of me... the part I always have to repress" has a lot more meaning after Future. In Rose Buds we get more proof that Gems take on characteristics after the Diamonds that made them (like children). Maybe White is the one that made the other Diamonds! This would also explain why White feels like she deserves to rule all of Gem-kind. She *literally* made the Diamonds and, by extension, every Gem in existence.

I have a theory about Spinel!! In "Drift Away" the song spinel sings, you can see a planet in the background with a giant heart through it. And there is a theory that, like the amethyst guards , took life from the planet to make them, and since Spinel was so full of activeness it took a whole planet to make her. So, when Steven climbs Spinels injector in the end of the movie, you can see the top of her injector has a giant heart on it, and the poison inside is pink like Spinel, so could that have been a spinel injector, that the diamonds used to make her, was it like a back up injector?! Would earth have created another Spinel?

Pinks shout is like lions roar, it wouldn’t surprise me if Steven has some portal manipulation abilities

I do think that the human Side of Steven was trying to hold back Pink Steven. Since in a way they are a fushion after all.

I think you’re missing out on the one quote that really determines her ability and severity of PD destructive power: White Diamond states in Change your mind that Pink is the part of herself that she tries to repress. It’s pretty clear that if White is the calm, collected type then Pink is impulsive and lashes out. So I think that Steven is going to bring it that side of her in a big way: His new diamond power is like Whites, the ability to place empathy in another person and in a way manipulate them. Each diamond is a mirror reflection of the other Blue and Yellow are two sides of the same coin and so are Pink and White. It will bring into play the idea of Pink manipulating others, which is Jasper’s go to insult, as well as throwing a fit when her manipulation doesn’t work...like any child.

i just think that when ma boi stevs was separated from his gem, and came back to it, the 'limiter' on his destructive powers became more loose and began reverting to Pink Diamond's original state, just like the connection between him and his gem. Not meaning that he can't use his powers anymore, but the Rejuvenator may have something to do with it.

I really think that after she broke her original pearl Pink Diamond repressed all her destructive and scary powers. It didn't make her more mature, it didn't stop her temper, she just stopped destroying everything when she got angry. That carried on into Rose Quarts who was more passive than Pink Diamond (I thoroughly believe that even if you were to poof Rose that she would reform as a Rose Quarts. It's not just shapeshifting, she changed who she was down to her core.) And again, Steven is more passive than Rose Quarts, being a genuinely good person and only wanting to help. Rose was better than Pink but still had major character flaws. Really, the only reason that Steven had such huge character flaws is that he was thoroughly traumatized.

Wait I actually have a pretty good theory as to why Steven has these rage powers all of a sudden and not in the movie. Steven learned how to use his powers again, but he has pink Diamond’s gem. Maybe it’s because he got hit with the rejuvenator, it didn’t reset his powers butt when he got them back he also got the ones his mother had that he didn’t know he had.

What if white replaced pink pearl with our pearl because she was the only other gem who knew?

I’m kind of getting annoyed that everything had happening comes back to pink. We get it, she’s bad. She wasn’t that great. But now it’s just getting overdone. - That being said, it seem like pink is a Defective gem

Say what you want but I still don't hate pink diamond. I still blame the diamonds because they made her follow so many rules and they never rewarded her for doing something good so I understand that she had mixed up feelings and didn't know whats right and whats wrong because of them.

I believe that all 4 diamonds are the result of 1 separating into 4 parts, to better expand its influence. White "birthed" yellow and blue to separate her emotions into manageable entities. Yellow being things like "drive" or "persistance" and blue being things like "sadness" and "loss". Pink, is the embodiment of her passions,the good and bad, what she pushed down the most, thus making the smallest pink diamond possibly the strongest

I believe the reason pearl thinks pink is a healer is because her powers underwent a similar change as the other diamonds becoming more passive in future, due to her mental state changing, that is why pinks original power took longer to show in steven, as he was having a harder time.

White made the comment about how Pink was the side of her that she always had to suppress - this could be in direct reference to Pink's tantrums. Maybe prior to Pink's creation, White WAS the one who couldn't control her destructive anger. So when Pink was made, the tantrum powers went with her. Perhaps the White Diamond we see in the opening credits is her seeing Steven struggle, feeling guilt that in order to maintain perfection, she dumped her temper into Pink, and thus into Steven....and she takes it back, or tries to, resulting in White Diamond throwing a tantrum for the first time in thousands of years and now knowing how to handle feeling that angry. OR. ORRR. If Steven's anger corrupts him into the worm monster....White flushed Pink when Steven was all goofy in Change your Mind, perhaps as the worm monster, his anger has the same effect but it's destructive.

This might be a far stretch, but I think I figured something out. Compared to Yellow, Blue, and White Diamond, Steven's gem ON IT'S OWN is the strongest. Sure, White can do some pretty impressive stuff. But Steven's gem was able to counteract that, meanwhile, Blue and Yellow couldn't. And if your theory of Pink being the reason homeworld is in two halves, which I one hundred percent agree with, is true, then that furthers my theory as well. We don't know the extent of Steven's potential, but with everything we've been given, we can assume that Steven's gem could at least be more powerful than Blue and Yellow. Pink may be small, but she is EXTREMELY fierce.

Imagine being a 15 year old 100x more powerful than everyone around you except your three older sisters who treat you badly.

When you frame Pink’s story like this so many little things in SU make sooo much sense. Like when Steven meet White for the 1st time she calls home “star light” and says I hope you got that out of your system. Before it seemed cold and dismissive but now I see it like a mom keeping her cool in public with a reactive child. Giving that are you done know vibe. Because Pink is so prone to outbursts and tantrums White doesn’t even let Steven talk before sending him to Pink’s room almost like a timeout, think about what you did and come back when you’re ready to be a big girl and use your in door voice. No mom is perfect but is it possible White is maybe a good mother ?!?

Steven is suffering as he loses his purpose. He's finished his job. What's left? Making up for his mothers mistakes. If Pink truly is responsible for cracking home-world, I believe Steven is going to eventually work on repairing it with his powers. Steven always blamed White for all his issues when really it was Pink. This could give him a whole new purpose and perhaps we might see Steven running the new colony with the diamonds.

I feel like the surce of her destructive power isn't just anger, but anger out of emotional pain That's why pink only unleashed it against white diamond, because asking yellow and blue for a colony wasn't final, asking white was, so this would be the only time she would feel truely powerless and frustrated That's why Pink Steven started to lose it when he was seperated from himself, he just wanted to get back together with the person he loves then he got utterly frustrated against jasper angry at himself that he put others in danger at the amusement park and now that he learns what his mom used to do and the feeling of betray against what others used to tell him I feel like it will get really interesting, now that puperty seems to hit him :)
