The One Piece world is filled with pirates, all with unique goals and unique journeys, but there was one man that sailed for a different reason than one would expect. Edward Newgate (Whitebeard) was one of the greatest pirates to ever sail the New World, and there is a reason he got the title of "The Strongest Man In The World." His journey is heartwarming and epic, truly showing us what kind of a man he is.

The fact that he ONLY wanted a family is why he is my FAVORITE OP character. Him and Nami made me realized somethings are more important than money and can not be measured by gold.

Whitebeard holding back during the entire war except for the end, after his beloved son dies, because he knew that if he went all out he would kill his crew is a huge part of what defines him to me.

Whitebeard. My favorite captain in the whole story (even more than Luffy and Roger). I just love all of his aspects as a captain. His power, his confidence, his sense of virtue (for a pirate), and most of all, his will and dream. I'm thankful I found this video, cause it encapsulates an aspect I carry with me till today.

For sure, he’s definitely my favorite captain, and Oda handled his arc SO well. I don’t think anyone dislikes whitebeard and that’s so fitting of his character! Glad you enjoyed, it means a lot :))

Whitebeard is one of those characters that just gets better with time. Even after he is dead, we are learning new things about him like his tenure with the Rocks Pirates, his protection of Fishman Island and Sphinx, and his friendship with Oden. Who knows what else is in store for this masterful character

Change the title to WhiteBeard instead of Edward Newgate. I believe the video will get more attention since he's more known as WhiteBeard. Anyway, great video!

Whitebeard is the sort of man who has reached very rare company. Being, like Mr. Rogers, one of those people whom you can say "Be the person Mr. Rogers/Whitebeard/etc knows you can be."

I think there is a correlation between those strong father figures in fiction (whether it be anime, sitcom, etc) speaking to those with broken homes or traumatic childhoods that make you love them. Because characters like whitebeard, piccolo, uncle Phil, Bobby (SN) have always been a personal favorite of mine that make you want to be a better man. I'm now seeing this as I get older and have a family of my own.
