If you ever watch A Chick Called Albert, you'll see there's another way of checking for life. He puts the egg in a bowl of water, and if it moves, it's alive.

Becky & Jake are much more family friendly these days than Disney. Cousin is also close in age to the two older sons of Jake & Becky. They can really have some fun, even if some of that fun (should I use that 4 letter word?) might be W O R K in the form of farming chores.

So we’ve got some peacocks wandering around our neighborhood and they’ve been multiplying like crazy. One year a female laid her eggs in a giant trampoline we had in our backyard. She sat on them everyday and before we knew it every egg had hatched. We had to give the peacock a helping as the babies were now stuck in the trampoline so we let them down and watch them go on their merry way.

My boyfriends gma's neighbor (like a mile away) had 7 peafowl escape, and one of the peahens decided it likes her yard, after no one could catch her, and is now making a nest, she loves food and i fed her a grape before someone coughed and she ran back to her spot. She's a beautiful color, wish I could show yall. I think she's piebald.

Wonderful, birthdays and hatchings. I live in the NE of UK and in our village at the old folks home there are two peacocks, Trevor and Wor Lass. they are sort of our village mascots and everyone loves them. Trevors first mate flew off and left him years ago so the village clubbed together to buy him a new mate. They have a sleeping hut at the old folks home but mainly roam around the grounds. Every year they lay and bring up chicks.

Happy Birthday Bella (and cousin); just loved all the celebration fun. Wow, Becky it's been 2 yrs since Bella was born. Your children are growing up so fast. It's great to see Bella beginning to form words. Your 4 yo is talking well. He also is helpful when he can . Your oldest is taking on responsibility real well and I see much improvement with the second oldest. Yep, I realize parenting is on the job training and each child has a different relationship with their parents. My observations are positive. It appears Jake and you are doing the best you can with what you have to teach values that are in harmony with reality. Not that you need my approval, but I do think highly of you. Congratulations on the 2 peacocks. May they grow up healthy. TY again for bringing us along this journey.

That firstborn chick was a feisty little one. He came out first, even though he was a day younger than the first one that started pipping. He knocked his siblings egg over (might be why it took his sibling a minute to hatch and start walking...he might have been dizzy from being knocked around by his sister,) and then he divebombs off the shelf, trying to fly or something. I think he's going to be just fine. lol

I watched this video a while back and commented on it, but as I watched it the second time, I’d like to comment on 2 things: The first is the part in the video where Dad is Candling the eggs, hoping for just one egg to have movement, and for ANY Proof of life. As he is looking at one of the eggs in the darkness, suddenly, there is movement and you hear this Inhale of Your breath… almost daring, the peachicks to move and attempt to come out of the shell… And it was just for a second or two, when, suddenly, I heard the happiest sound we could hope for, and that was You Exhaling with Happiness, & then, joyfully you announce “We have a peachicks” …. and in that moment, tears sprang to my eyes, and I too, found myself exhaling and breathing with joy ride along with you😊❣️❣️❣️ You had worked so long and so hard for the last five years, hoping to get a peachicks to hatch, and it was such “relief mixed with joy “all at the same time when that baby chick moved within its warm shell ❣️ I am so happy for your family to have accomplished this Big Task❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️♥️♥️ The next thing I want to do comment on is, first, how cute your daughter was at the excitement of the baby chicks hatching, as well as the big box of new checks coming in the mail. She could hardly contain herself in her movements of her hands and the happiness of seeing all of them, and wanting so badly to hold one like her brothers. I will tell you something that work for my daughter, who had two older brothers, by the way, and what we did was to get a pair of winter thick gloves, either with fingers, or without doesn’t matter… What matters is it? There’s lots of padding between her fingers, and the baby chicks that she wants to hold. This prevents her for the most part, but not 100% guaranteed, from harming the baby chick. She’s going to be focusing someone on the gloves and trying to make them wrap around the baby chick, but she can’t. I have course always kept my hands nearby in case the chick got away from her or she would start to squeeze too tight but it worked for us. She wanted to be a big girl like her brothers were vegan hold her own Chick and this is how we handle it. It may mean for a timer to that you have to have the boys put on winter gloves or Mom and Dad also wearing gloves, whoever is helping her. That way she didn’t feel like she was the only one initially wearing gloves. So you might give that a try and see if that helps. Every child has a different amount of strength in their hands…. This would not have worked at all for my youngest son, because he had amazing strength in his hands for a child at any age, and definitely a grown man. He still has very strong hands. To give you an example of that, we had gone on a road trip to the grandma and grandpa, about 600 miles away from where we were living. Grandpa had given both boys a Built- to-scale, metal Bobcat, skid loader. I didn’t think about it very much as my three-year-old son tended to be very quiet and studious and content to look out the window whenever we traveled so when a long period is silence went by, I wasn’t worried. But suddenly, in my rearview mirror, he lifts up what’s in his hand and said “I DID IT !!” I don’t know how he did it because he had no tools, but he had systematically taken that bobcat toy all apart.😊😂 He was so proud of himself and I was not happy about it but I just quietly said to him can you put all the pieces and all the screws in your backpack and I’ll help you put it back together when we get home. He was quite content to do that and he didn’t lose any pieces and that was the beginning of his collection of two scale, model, farm equipment, etc., anyway I tell you the story because he had unusual straits for a child and gloves would not have made any difference. So we got him a little bug barn and they sell them in the summertime Especially, garden centers and Farm & Fleet / Thiesen type of store. We could put the baby kick the end a little bug barn that was simply wiremesh built around a half a circle with a hole in it, which we did have to cut bigger, and he was content to walk around and carry his baby chick in the bug barn.. so I hope these ideas help you at least one of them. It’s not easy being a little guy. The last thing I’d like to comment on is the young cousin that came to spend the week with you. It really touched my heart set over all the places he could’ve chosen to go, he chose his cousins home. It lived in the White House on the hill. Clearly he had had fun there before and he wanted more of that type of farm fun. This speaks so highly to the type of parents you are, the respect you show children, the boundless amount of fun on the farm, which he will take those memories back home with him, and they will last him forever as the greatest place to go visit. He obviously recognizes that you guys are a “hands on” “parenting type of family… and this is the greatest tribute anyone could pay you!!!!! I got one farm and I had 11 siblings. Yes, we all came from the same Mom and Dad. We were very close as a family and our cousins were always coming to our house almost every weekend during the summer and at least once a month during winter weather because the roads would get so bad that nobody could travel on them. And those were the happiest times of my life!! My cousins or my best friend growing up. I just want to give this young man a hug for recognizing that even though there’s work on a farm, there’s a lot more fun than work. He really paid for such a nice tribute to you both. God bless you for letting your children know they’re loved and letting them be involved all the way of every project you choose to endeavor in😊❣️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Now that you have Blue Andalusian chicks, when the time comes and hopefully you have a Barred Rock rooster you can breed and hatch out some Sapphire Gem chicks. We have 3 SG hens and they are good layers, really friendly girls and love talking to you. You'll have to look up the breed to see if they'd be one you would want. We got ours from Mc Murray Hatchery and we have 2 Whiting True Blue hens from them also. They are even more friendly than our Sapphire Gems and super smart with pretty pale turquoise eggs.💙 Thanks for sharing! Take care everyone!✌️❤🐔🥚🐣🐓

From a super fan, always loyal from the begining! Love you Jake and Becky and kids!! I drove through Missouri and went to table rock lake last year and I wish I would have known where you were and had permission to stop in and say hi. You are my favorite KZfaqrs and I respect you very much. I wish I would have done what you did, but I didn't know until way later in life that I wanted to have a small farm. Now I'm to old to start out. I'm happy I get to watch your family. Thanks for sharing. Your very brave to do all you've done and I bet you'll look back and say wow One day!! Thank the Lord for showing you all his abundance of love!

That's so sweet that he wanted to spend time with family. The first time I saw your emu run...I thought it was having a seizure. They're so funny.

I am so happy for you all. Baby peacocks finally it’s been a long time coming. You’re my favorite channel and I look forward to you sharing your story with me. I cried when I first saw the babies. Isabella wants to be grown up so fast, when she is asleep whisper in her ear not to be in such a hurry. Love ❤️

You should try and grow some cubes of worms for compost and for the chickens!! Easy, cheap and good for the animals, and in the line of action of your farm!! Love your videos!!!
