@MetalDetectingwithCZkidd4 ай бұрын
I started with the Whites TDI Beach Hunter while living near the beach. My 2nd detector at the time was an Equi 800. One thing I noticed right away was you only had a set number of steps for controlling or dialing in whatever feature you were trying to setup with the Equi 800. For example if you had 6 steps or press of the button on a filter, O = off, 6=100%, that is roughly 17% increase of filter per push of the button. 2 pushes you have already increased it by 34%. Huge. With POT or potentiometers, (dial knobs)you could dial those “older, outdated” machines in much better. I am currently looking at the NEXUS MP V3 detector. A current detector with old school tech. I believe there are some advantages the new digital platforms cannot compete with. Nice vid M.

Awesome! I have a bunch of these old classics. Too many 🤣. It got out of hand haha. A bunch of classic 2, classic 3, an idx, a classic id, and a 4900di max. They are pretty sweet machines! Super coin shooters in parks. Crank the disc high and dig copper pennies, dimes, and quarters all day haha.

Definitely fun for cherry picking the coins 👍

Slow sweep is what those machines excelled with. I found my best coin with that machine. I did the mods to make it deeper. Good review!

Some times I will think if Analog is/or can be better then digital. Then i answer myself every detector I have used has its Pros/Coms. I know I have been influenced in buying metal detector from every You Tube channel I watched. Main Reason Is I love this Hobby and I like New toys..lol Thanks for doing retro test on older models and by The Way ( do not swing it over 88mph)

Oh man! I remember the Whites machines. I had a Classic IDX, a DFX, and Spectrum XLT in the 90s. All of those were hot on silver but the Classic IDX was my favorite back then. It was a silver hog but like all of those back then, it’s only going to get you down just so deep. I have actually went back to old spots I had hunted with the Whites back in the day and with an equinox or the D2, It was like a new spot all over again. Not all coins land flat or are buried flat. Over the years I have found that just changing your approach angle on an old spot can make it come alive again. That’s why they say it’s never hunted completely out. Great video!

Nice to see the old Whites, I kept my 5900 DI Pro SL and 6000 DI Pro SL just to be nostalgic and play with once in a while. These machines are killer but also killer to your arm with etc 4 X C batteries. Curious to see the 4900 perform.

I think it's the concentric coil that makes a big difference. All the machines switched over to double d coils. I wonder how a concentric coil would work with multi frequency. Now days most people are getting confused with the elliptical coils being double D because of their shape. A big influencer like you could suggest a concentric coil to nokta xp or minelab.
@IffySignals4 ай бұрын
Appreciate it, but don’t think I have an influence on stuff like that. I just show them and offer my input. I have heard others hoping for concentric coils. Maybe it has to do with the new machines being Multi? Not sure.

Good video. There were a lot of good detectors back when I was younger lol. Some co. didn't last long but put out fantastic detectors. As always when you buy a detector. Get one that works best for what you are looking for. Where you are looking has a bit to consider too. Some older models actually work better than the new high tech devices>>> for what they were designed for

You'll confuse 'the institutionalised' Mike! Didn't you hear "The Man"? He done said, "SMF obsoletes, All, single frequencies!" And here you is, swingin' one of them "Neolithic" anal ogues! Thing as puzzles me😵💫 (not that that takes much effort these days), is why "The Man" put 4kHz-40kHz single frequency select on them SMF's🤔. In "semi-seriousness", if you know how to use a real good tool, you will feed the pot. I'm 64, I 'cut my teeth' on them (Tesoros), daytime and dark, for a wee while. As part of the learning curve they were priceless. I've gone back to using a more recent brand of analogue again. The 'telling tones', sweet modulated vco, and no "Head down Henry" vdi obssesion makes for a real nice change. Audio is King, imo..Thank you for this video Mike, it's been a pleasure to tune in👍🏴☠.

Awesome, that first coin or relic that hooks you is cool to remember. My dad got into the hobby with a bounty hunter 8400 in the early 80’s. I went with him a couple of times and had no interest, years later i got an ace 250 and used it a bit for coins at a park and still no interest. Pulled it out of the box years later and dug my first relic (a lantern winder) in the woods behind my house. That did it. 👍

I had a White's Prizm 4 never worse detector for looking for medieval silver coins. He didn't react to anything either in the air test or the ground test. I was very disappointed by White's. now i have Teknetics Alpha. highly sensitive machines for small objects such as medieval coins. and extremely fast.

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that Tesoro's are unmatched in heavy iron. I love my Deus 1 and 2. I love my Equinox. Neither one can even come close to picking non ferrous out of heavy iron and minerals like the Tesoro's. A lot of analog machines are just better at discrimination than the digital machines.

@IffySignals4 ай бұрын
Awesome! Who is this Mr Bill and his secrets? haha. These old machines are fun to play with, having the full control of Disc is nice. These days the manufacturers are concerned with user ability/sanity and don’t open them up like they used too. I get that too being it makes for a more enjoyable hunt for beginners. The Classic smacking that level 4 silver quarter was eye opening for someone like me who started in the digital age. No wonder silver is slim pickings. 😆
@rickvann34894 ай бұрын
@IffySignals Mr.Bill was from your area Massachusetts I believe he has since passed away but alot of people do his mod which is threshold adjustment and ground balancing but Keith does a power or depth mod added to what Mr.Bill did. The IDX Pro is a Mr.Bill mod incorporated into Whites if I am correct in saying that. I would love to send one up your way later say about May

White classic series metal detectors. Were two filter the 5900 where four filter machines. 4 filter in trash is not that good as the classic series being two filters. I had one that was modded by Mr Bill . He puts a manual ground balance on the machine. Plus he also increases the sensitivity. very good in trash like you said the higher frequency doesn’t do that great on low conductors.
