Whittlesea Green-Waste

One of the first councils I got down to when I was got my license was Whittlesea and reason being was to check out the variety of trucks that were being used at the time. One of of the focuses was to document the Green-Waste contract which was run by JJ Richards. In late 2007 a new Green Waste service was introduced to all Whittlesea residents as an optional service and #0805 was the first truck to start the service off. Being a late 2007 model Acco with the pre Euro4 exhaust, this was something I had to film. Sounds fantastic piercing through the streets. This was one of two trucks that were done up in the Whittlesea Green-Waste signage with the other truck being a Euro4 which would of been about a year older than this truck. Apart from the two, there was also a few fill in trucks that were put into the contract over time to keep up with the growing service and these were generally older trucks from other older contracts.
#0805 was kept on as a spare but was later retired and sold off, I did end up seeing it as a cab chassis a couple of years about at a workshop so I'm assuming it has gotten a new lease of life. Ah Awesome, 0805 My old Green waste truck. One of the best trucks in the fleet at the time, that and the ex Yarra. Awesome video!

Top video I enjoyed that exhaust ripping through the streets. I remember getting up at 5 am as a young kid and watching the trucks come past.

When I saw this video thumbnail the first thing I glanced at was the cab step to see if it had the ACCO cut out, thankfully it didn't. Next I read in the description this was a late 07 build prior to the Euro 4 updates and I got all excited. Then the video started, I saw the thin exhaust pipe and heard that first throttle advance... felt like a shot of heroin lmao =P Loved the gear hold not long after at 0:21 too, on the verge of changing to 2nd, but isn't allowed to. It suddenly popped to mind I could swear you videoed an old ACCO weapon on Whittlesea greens prior and sure enough you did, but it was older 0770 from somewhere in QLD, this time it was the actual contract truck. No doubt this old beast blew the Visy Volvos out of the water in terms of sound, no need to say what it does to the new JJR Volvos haha Awesome to watch this video through and also sad at the same time, because so many of these Richards trucks were around and now there are so little... to find this older version body is almost like a needle in a haystack today. That bin @ 3:27, you wouldn't need a scale to know it was fucking heavy! I was hanging out for that offside view clip and it commenced at 6:04, I was thinking I won't get let down, but then I saw him indicate into the street and swing towards it as he pulled up to that bin... what a let down, I bet you weren't expecting it either =S Managed to make up for it a bit not long after, how good were the low revs after 7:09?! Outstanding work getting this one on camera, if I have seen this truck on KZfaq before it was a very long time ago!

This was a truck I most certainly had to get on camera before the contract finished up. This truck had a twin which was a year older and an E4 but the visor had been smashed off and I honestly was not keen on filming it, the 2007 truck was much more nicer. Yes that 0770 was an old Whitsundays truck, fucken weapon! I can assure you all these old JJ's trucks they had running around in Whittlesea contract were all 2007 trucks bar an E4 or two and they definitely shitted all over the Volvos in terms of sound wise. I'm still kicking myself I didn't get the old Towoomba truck on video but I did manage to catch two more 2007 trucks with one being an old Yarra Ranges Green-Waste truck. That heavy bin just shows you though how all those scuff marks appear on the sides of the bins in all the JJ's contracts, doesn't help when all the drivers just pick them up from the tip instead of getting them in the middle.

Awesome video Mate I remember back in between 2014 or 2016 when This truck came on green waste day and old Volvo Visy recycling and sometimes old bayside Visy recycling and old Volvo garbage on recycling day as well old contractor until end of April 2018 when new Volvo JJ Richards take over and original old trucks replaced or spare truck I miss it it’s good thing that you got old Whittlesea green waste from old video and send to KZfaq good job 😊👍

These were the very first trucks JJ Richards and Sons used for the whittlesea council contract for garden waste when the first introduced this bin back in the early 2000s

This truck is a 2007 model and was bought in 07 when Whittlesea introduced the Green Waste service. The original Whittlesea JJR fleet was mainly made up of Hinos.
