The lyrics of God’s menu are a metaphor. Cooking/mixing/creating as referring to the process of making music. The music video represents different aspects of the industry as well. The creation and building in the kitchen and construction site, the experimentation in the lab scenes and the competition of the industry in the racetrack. And the lyrics do make sense if you think about it as an analogy rather than literally. The passing pigeons, magpies, and crows refers to people who flit around seeking their next meal like pigeons, who make loud noises like magpies and who seek what’s shiny like crows. After you said emo songs, I thought Hellevator would be your vibe. I expect you’d also appreciate Easy, Lonely Street, Levanter, and Mirror (not to be confused with Miroh). And maybe Side Effects. So. Let’s give some further context. Hellevator was the first song they made as a whole group. (The three main producers had a SoundCloud before that barely got any views). Their company had no inclination to release a new group or debut them until they let the leader (his name is Bangchan or Chris) pick a group of guys from the present trainees and entrusted him with the balance. They then competed, not with another group, but to prove that they deserved to debut as a group. A couple members were cut, and had a chance to win their way back in, and managed it, because their chemistry as a group was so much stronger with all of them there. Hellevator was written as the first challenge of that show with Bangchan writing and producing the beats, the members writing the lyrics (mainly Bangchan, Han and Changbin) and Lee Know choreographing the dance. They were not a largely popular group, despite coming from a huge company. They were fairly unknown at the beginning. Despite that, they made two mini series of albums, I am and Cle(French for key). I am consists of three mini albums; I am NOT, I am who and I am you. Cle consists of Cle 1: Miroh, Cle 2: Yellow Wood and Cle: Levanter. It was just before levanter that their ninth member left, causing that release to be delayed. He’s kinda like Bruno and we don’t talk about him. They debuted at 16-20 years old, so of course they will look different as real grown ups! Regardless, after Levanter, they released God’s menu, and blew up, gaining a lot of international fans. The next year they participated in a global competition show against 5 other big groups and won it and since then they’ve released 3 billboard #1 albums, won a VMA and broke the record for most presold kpop albums at 5.13 million for 5-star. And they have another coming out next month!

45 here. I found them in 2020. I’ve always been all over the place with my music preferences so stray kids definitely tic off all of my boxes. Me and my youngest daughter share our kpop playlist adding to it every time we hear something new we like. I think, from reading most peoples comments that my husband is a rarity as even though he doesn’t listen to our music he encourages us to listen whatever makes us happy and listens to us chat about it and actively asks questions when we talk about the cultural differences and aspects that we learn along the way.

8:55 the group was made by the leader Chan who picked each member, something that never happens in kpop (usually the music company/label picks the members) that's where the name Stray Kids comes from, because they were all random trainees before they joined to become a team Chan had also trained for 7 years before Stray Kids formed and since the members were all 17-20 when they debuted so they still felt like kids who didnt know what to do

I want to say that another way to interpret their name and concept is based off the Lost Boys of peter pan, children who are reluctant to enter the adult world, the confusion that comes with it, and clinging to their times before adulthood (in this case, also their debut) and trying to find out who they are. That’s also why a lot of their songs follow the themes of finding oneself and expressing who they are and doing what feels right to them instead of following societies expectations.

Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids. As a note, their voices are definitively not sounding all the same, they are one of the Kpop groups with the most distinctive voices. LOL “young girls”, I am 56, and I am not the only one, my husband and I are fans, and there are a LOT of other Stays (Stay is the fandom name) our age. You don’t have to be a specific age to appreciate good music production. They are great artists, and we’ve been enjoying their music for 3 years now. Since they produce their own songs, they like to experiment with different genres, with around 180 songs to their credit, I am sure you’ll find something you’ll like, if you decide to look into them some more.

I am 31 and not a young girl and I love Stray kids as well. Music has no age, we can like whatever we want to like. The stigma of being a fan of boy groups that automatically categorize you into "young girls" because these boys look good and young girls love that is just dumb in my opinion. These young girls resonate with their music as well and not just their looks we shouldn't just discredit their music choice just cause they are young girls. Sorry for the rant I just hate it when age is associated with music choice 😅

God's Menu is a Korean term meaning a full variety of things. For Stray Kids it means they can and will do all different types of music. The original song title God's Menu was just released as "Super Bowl". They decided to release the one we know as God's Menu first. Obviously a good business decision

It was also in response to some haters saying all they do is make “loud” music. So they decided to turn up the volume, so to speak! And I love them for that! They’re not LITERALLY talking abt cooking . They’re saying how their music is on Gods Menu meaning their music will satisfy all five of your senses ( Like Changbin said in the beginning, Changbin is the first guy who rapped and the last guy who rapped)

you guys had lots of questions and ill try to answer some ,other stays( stray kids fans name)will also help. First of all stray kids is a 8 memeber group. They write and produce most of their own music! explaining their videos is a bit hard because most of them are linked to each other ,Stray kids has their own storyline! But in Gods menu they are basically saying that everything you are looking for in an artist ,any genre you like they have it all, its all on their menu thats why it is gods menu ,like the best menu. This also explains that they are very versatile in their music.Stray kids were critized a lot because people said they had noise music or "construction music" that is why in the mv you can see construction sites, that also represents building someting, so they are saying they write and "build" their music on their own, cooking has the same meaning, putting different "flavors" in their music, using different genres to convey their messages!

I don't know if you guys are more into the singing or the rap type of music, but I suggest my favourites that have a bit of both: "Topline", "Charmer", "Easy" Since you like the "emo" kind of music, these kinda fit the vibe: "Social path", "Winter falls", "Maze of memories" If the song you wanna check out doesn't have a music video, then just search for a lyric video to watch instead. And btw I would actually prefer if you kept it at 2-3 people so it's a bit more clear to watch and the video doesn't get stopped so many times. It would be nice if you could watch them to the end cause it's often the best part!

Stray Kids have been writing and producing their own music since before they debuted. Most of them were still teenagers at the time. Some important info: 3Racha - Stray Kids' main writing and production unit, consisting of Bang Chan (the leader of Stray Kids), Changbin and Han They formed as a rap group before Stray Kids formed, and wrote and produced their own music. When the final members for Stray Kids were chosen, 3Racha was absorbed into the group. They write and produce the vast majority of the music for Stray Kids. Bang Chan, Changbin and Han still perform as 3Racha for certain awards shows and events, separately from Stray Kids. ---------------------------------- DanceRacha - their main dance unit, consisting of Hyunjin, Felix, and Lee Know ---------------------------------- VocalRacha - their main vocal unit, consisting of Seungmin and I.N ---------------------------------- Main rappers - Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix - but unlike many K-pop groups, all 8 members can and have rapped, depending on the song. ---------------------------------- Vocalists......I listed their main vocal unit above, but again.....all 8 members have great singing voices and they switch around on lead vocals, depending on the song ---------------------------------- Dancers......main ones listed above, but all 8 members can dance very well ---------------------------------- Languages: Bang Chan and Felix are both Australian, so English is their first language. The other 6 members speak English with varying degrees of fluency. All 8 members are fluent in both Korean and Japanese. The group can sing and rap in all three languages. ---------------------------------- Not all of their music is hard. They also sing beautiful ballads, have performed a number of songs for K-drama soundtracks, and have written / performed some songs for an anime called Tower of God. They also collaborate with / produce for other idol groups and individual singers from Korea, Japan and China.

Welcome to Stray Kids! Self producing group who love to play with sounds and genres. You never know from one song to the next what you will get. They may follow up a heavy dubstep with an old school rap sound, followed by beachy summer rock vibes. They are 8 incredibly talented guys and are just as much fun off stage as on. Onstage/in music videos They are fierce, off stage they are sweet and chaotic. A few fun facts: Bang Chan is the leader and the oldest. He trained for 7 years and then was allowed to pick his own group, something not done in kpop and it allowed the guys to truly bond and become a brotherhood. He is also one of two Australian members and one of the main producers (producing line is called 3racha) Changbin one of the fastest rappers in kpop whose buff physique and dark rapper stage persona adorably clash with his offstage baby Changbin personality. He is one of the main producers. Han the third and final producer. Han writes a lot of the more emotional lyrics. He is very introverted around people he doesn't know and suffers from anxiety. He is very open about his struggles. His song Alien is particularly meaningful to me. When with his brothers he is a definite mood maker always ready to laugh and be crazy. Danceracha Lee Know is a quirky one. (He and Han are my biases) he has a very interesting personality it takes time to get to know. He can be savage. He adores cats and tolerates people. He always cooks for the members and takes care of them. While Chan is considered the father of the group, Lee Know is the mother, making sure everyone is safe and happy. He also used to be a backup dancer for BTS. Hyunjin is our resident drama Llama. He was street casted for his looks with no training in singing, rap or dance but refused to just skate by on that. He worked extremely hard to improve and hone his skills and now his fancams of his dancing are some of the most popular. He makes it look effortless. He is also an amazing artist who shares his sketches and paintings with Stay (their fanbase). Felix: Mr. Deep Voice. Onstage...demon voice and dance master. Offstage...fluffy baby chick who adores baking brownies and cuddling with his brothers. The others call Felix Sunshine or Happiness. He is the second Australian and knew very little Korean when he joined the group. Vocalracha: Seungmin, second youngest member He loves quiet reading and drinking coffee (this boy is SMART). But trust that he is watching EVERYTHING. This guy knows everything and figures things out before they are revealed all the time. Seungmin is also savage and loves to antagonize Lee Know, Bang Chan and Changbin especially. Final current member is I.N (pronounced like the letters). His nasal tones sound very unique and easy to pick out. He is the maknae (youngest) member and is absolutely spoiled and cherished by the other members. Can often be seen pushing them away when they try to cuddle since he is not as fond of skinship as the others. He has worked extremely hard on his craft and continues to amaze. Affectionately called baby bread by the other members. Of note prior to Oct 2019 there was a 9th member. Woojin left the group for personal reasons and will be in older videos. I hope you dive deep. They have a HUGE discography. Their Japanese releases usually don't have English subtitles but you can always find color coded lyric videos too. Welcome to Stay!

I get where your friend is coming from.. I'm 32, mom of 3, and from Texas, USA. Never got into kpop when I was younger because 1) I dont know Korean 2) ppl that listen to kpop are.. different. Stumbled accross these boys almost 8 months ago and never turned back! Good music is good music, no matter the language. I hope your friend overcomes his preconceived ideas and gives life a bit more of a chance 😊 So, as I'm sure many Stay have told you, Stray Kids makes their own music for the most part. We're even blessed now with members not in the original producing unit (3Racha- say the number then racha, its a play on the hot sauce Sriracha, Bang Chan or Chris, Changbin, Han) writing and making their own songs. These boys work so hard. They are all so talented and they've only been doing this for 5+ years. Oh and Hellevator was a song they made when they were 16-19 i think, pretty much babies. TeaNoSuga has a guide for 2023 in case you'd like to put a name to the faces, i know its tough at first! 😁

From Stray Kids i think you should listen to 'Mixtape oh', 'Sorry, i love you' , 'Ex' and Silent cry, they are more melodic songs and '3racha' ,'Freeze' , 'Easy' , 'Miroh' and 'Victory song' too, they are more rap songs, ( For a Stray kids member solo i would say 'Miserable' by Han).

God's Menu from what I understand is about how they make their own music and that they have their own sound. It also talks about how they want people to come back for more of their music. Also some songs I recommend are The View, Get Cool, Surfin', and Sorry I love you.

Honestly, I liked how honest your review was. Not everyone is going to like every type of music, so to see your own personal likes and dislikes in your reaction without trying to appease your audience's preference was kind of refreshing. I'm a huge stray kids fan and have been following them since the beginning and am really proud of where they are today. They're a really comforting group as they make songs for those who are "astray." Their main slogan after every music video is "stray kids everywhere all around the world, you make stray kids stay" and I think their music helps a lot of young people stay.

Interesting reaction and comments, guys! I hope you’ll look into more of their music. For their “softer” or less “noisy”, more vocal songs, I’d recommend: scars (Japanese version), levanter, voices, secret secret, mirror, waiting for us, winter falls, chill, gone away, red lights, mixtape oh, Chronosaurus, neverending story (live), the view, blueprint, I am you… I can’t think of any more right now, but they have loads, I’m sure others will comment with more. You might also be surprised to know that their fan base spans decades, I’m in my 40s and there are many much older and many much younger than me who all love and relate to these humble, creative crackheads. Men and women. Definitely not a One Direction type of situation, imo anyway. Their music is often left to interpretation so that more people can relate, this includes most songs being gender neutral too. They often sing about the importance of being yourself, letting your inner odd self be free, don’t feel like you need to conform to what society tries to mold everybody into, but be authentically you, you’re special, you’re enough, that sort of thing. At the start of their journey they often sang about trying to find themselves, their music style reflected this, it was a bit all over the place, quite experimental at times. But they have always wanted to make a safe space for others who feel like outcasts and let them know that they’re accepted as they are. Their message has remained similar to this throughout, except that they know who they are and what their sound is now. Each song is still somehow different, yet has that unique Stray Kids sound. I look forward to following your journey down this rabbit hole.

No need to be scared to say if you don't like something😂 Stray kids discography is incredibly varied, so if you say what you liked and what you didn't like it's easier to find something that you will enjoy. And yes, most of Stray kids' title songs are quite hard hitting (that and the way they were formed also makes them kind of the "odd" ones in the kpop indutry). Of the ones that have more "emo" or deep lyrics, my personal favourites are: Scars (my absolute favourite, but it's japanese, so the mv doesn't have subs, might want to read those separately) Secret secret + silent cry (Secret secret was written by one of the members and as an answer to that song the group released the song silent cry) Streetlights (solo song by changbin - and the lyrics are genius) I'm looking forward to seeing more:)

SKZ has 2 natural English speakers, leader Bangchan & the deep voice elf Felix. They’re Australian & have taught the rest English, so most have a slight Aussie accent, except Seungmin who sounds American & Han who sounds British. Bangchan has 2 duets with Lee Know & Hyunjin. Lee Know & Han just put out a duet, Changbin has some solos, as does Han. Bangchan, Changbin& Han are called 3racha & write & produce all their music, they’re recognized for their output, but 3racha also has songs they’ve released. They performed recently on the Global Citizens Festival after 4 members were in an auto accident & were being kept in Korea for observation.

The name Stray Kids itself comes from the fact that Chan (the leader) was the one who chose each of the members. That is something that does not usually happen in K-pop since it is the companies who think in detail about which trainee they will choose to form a new group but with SKZ, JYP (the company) let Chan choose his partners to debut. So since the oldest (Chan in this case) at that time was only 20 and the rest were younger than him or directly minors, it is as if they had been kids looking for a direction and making a place for themselves in the industry. So yeah, that's kind of where the name Stray Kids comes from. Actually as a fun fact: SKZ's lightstick is a compass, indicating that they have STAY (their fandom) to guide their path.

If you are after a solo from each member then check out side A of their ‘SKZ re-play album’ the album starts off with the Korean version of their group song ‘FAM’ which in the members talk about each other, basically giving a little introduction of each member. (This version has an mv with subtitles so I suggest watching that one rather than the Japanese version). Then it goes on to each members solo songs, these songs were written by the member themselves (some had help from other producers or other members in regards to production but I believe the lyrics are all the solo member’s work). In order they are: ‘Connected’ by bang Chan (this song is in all English, he is Australian so you will be able to hear the Aussie accent) ‘Limbo’ by Lee Know (you will need a lyric video as it is in Korean, please note that some lyric videos will have an unrelated piece of music at the end of them, I think it’s a way to avoid copyright claims, just end the video when the song switches. Any Stay who see this, if you could suggest a reliable channel for the lyric videos preferably without the music at the end that would be really helpful) ‘Doodle’ by Changbin (will need a lyric vid) ‘Love untold’ by Hyunjin (will need a lyric vid) ‘Run’ by Han (will need a lyric vid) ‘Deep end’ by Felix (this one is in all English because Felix is also an Australian and you will definitely hear the accent, you may be surprised by this song as a Felix is known to have a deep voice. Before you ask during the song, yes that is him, it is only him on the track, there is no feature) ‘Stars and Raindrops’ by Seungmin (will need a lyric vid) ‘Hug me’ by I.N (will need a lyric vid) If you want to you could finish the A-side of the album then I suggest also listening to the group song ‘#LoveStay’ which is a slower more vocal focused song, written (lyrics) by members who aren’t part of 3Racha (bang Chan produced and arranged, I think). It was written as a gift for Stay (the fandom) and is a great way to finish off this part of the album. Also the album tracks are in order of oldest member to youngest member. Several of the members have other solo track and every one of the members have unit/duo tracks, some of them are included in the B- side of the album. This album is a great way to check out their individual styles. Some tracks on other albums are written and even produced by members who aren’t in 3Racha so it’s always interesting to check out the credits of their songs. For more vocal heavy group songs I would suggest: ‘Lost me’ (Japanese track, check out their live singing on ‘the first take’ channel) ‘Scars’ (also a Japanese song and again their version on the first take is a must) ‘Sorry I love you’ (Korean track, has an mv) ‘Secret secret’ (Korean track, has an mv) ‘FnF’ (Korean track, has an mv, is a favourite of mine, it was written by the Aussie members to commemorate their feelings over the devastating Australian Bush fires that occurred in 2019 and 2020 and how they felt so helpless about it since they were in Korea) ‘Winter falls’ (Korean track, has an mv, released on their Christmas album ‘Christmas Evel’ which you may want to check out closer to Christmas) An older one would be ‘Chronosaurus’ (Korean song, has an mv, from when the group had 9 members) ‘Youtiful’ (an English song, has an offical animated lyric video) They always have a variety of genre and sounds on each album so I highly recommend checking out every song on their albums because their b-sides are just as good as their title tracks, and if the title track isn’t your cup of tea than there is likely a b-side that is. Hope this is helpful.
