I'm pretty sure sonic is the original version of the ultimate lifeform, it says in sonic adventure 2 that a pod was accidentally launched to earth (wayyyyyyyyy before the whole gun incident) about ten years from sonic adventure 2

Fun fact: Vanilla has NEVER appeared in a main-series Sonic game. Similar to the Babylon Rogues she's only appeared in the spin-offs or portable games.

I think longclaw works the best. Her adopting him still leaves his concrete origins open since sega wants to keep that ambiguous. Plus, I just love her character the best out of all the moms for sonic despite what little we saw of her.

Same! Sonic still seemed to be coping with her death during Sonic 2, which means even if Longclaw was only with him during his childhood, she still made a huge impact on his life. Many of those moments almost made me cry due to us really seeing how much Sonic really missed Longclaw.

Sonic had another mother in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog where she was shown in the episode with Sonic time travelling to ancient Egypt. At the start of the episode they show the family tree of Sonic in a book and Sonic's parents are visible in that book.

My theory is that, is SatAM and Sonic Underground occur in the same reality, that Bernadette is really Sonic's *aunt;* she lied to protect Sonic at the time, so Robotnik wouldn't know who he really is until it's too late. THAT'S why she was roboticized... So, yeah, Sir Jules and Queen Aleena are Sonic's parents; certain elements from the manga dictate Jules *is* also a jet pilot, if the realities were merged together...

@@lynxfresh5214 Speaking of Knuckles, was there any sort of explaination (in the video game continuity) about what happened to the equidna tribe around the time Knuckles was born or before that? I feel like after SA2 the games just kinda dropped the ball on explaining and expanding on the lore of the equidna tribe and we never got to know what their last days were like before Knuckles was the only one left, who can't even remember anything except his duty as guardian of the Master Emerald. I know there's the Dark Brotherhood game, but I think that one isn't even canon.

@@inendlesspain4724 The Echidna Tribes influence is a constant throughout that game (Ex: The Mystic Melody, The Desert Stages, The Central Dome of the ARK, The Snake Slide from Sa1, The Biolizard etc.). There is like a whole ass theory with that. However these are background or implied details rather than a central plot point. After that we really dont learn much of anything about them which sucks. And yeah it would have been at least a couple of Echidnas left for Knuckles to be born but there is no way they would have survived that long with a bottlenecked population.

It's always nice to see a video talking about Sonic Underground without it being about how it's the worst Sonic cartoon (I personally find this show overhated), and it's always exciting to see the manga talked about a bit since it's definitely one of the most obscure things in Sonic media.

I have no hate or disrespect, that show is actually what introduced me to Sonic before the games. (Imagine having to having to process learning that in the 'Main' Series Sonic has no known siblings as a child who was actually fond of Sonic Underground.)

@@jdawson7877 I know it gets a lot of hate because it has little to do with the games including leaving out Tails (though Knuckles is at least in four episodes), and some Sonic SatAM fans hate it because it happened instead of a third season of their show. I get where people are coming from, but I feel SU was meant to be enjoyed as its own show which is how I look at it, and the story is very interesting. I wish it got to have its finale. I know the Sonic Universe comics were originally going to have their 50th issue be a special based on the show's conclusion but that got cancelled as well, and they stuck with their own story for issue #50.

At least a recent interpretation of Sonic actually gave him a mom (in the Paramount continuity), it's been years since Sonic had his siblings (poor Sonia and Manic). Then again I think most fans (myself included) actually enjoy Tails being essentially Sonic's younger brother (when he is written well ofc) so it's give or take.

7:17 it’s funny because Archie almost adapted the intended ending of Underground as the 50th issue special of Sonic Universe but they swapped it out last minute for a Metal vs Shard centric issue that ultimately amounted to nothing due to the reboot Genesis Wave stuff in the Mega Man Crossover.

@@shardsoftime0952 yeah but it literally ended with Metal killing Shard as far as we know since he was erased after the Mega Man crossover so we got nothing from it. I personally wouldn’t have wanted that to be the last we saw from Shard. At least the Underground epilogue would have been it’s own thing regardless instead of a “oh we’ll come back it later” only to be canceled and not even knowing a draft of what the story would have been outside of a cover.

Aleena I would say is the best mom Sonic was given as well. Never really getting in the way of the adventure while still doing what she can from the shadows and having plot significance. Still, games are best not touching this stuff

Well considering that it's Canon that Sonic's Birthplace is Christmas Island(and left because of his sense of Adventure and wanting to explore the world), It's a high possibility that he may have parents.

Somewhat unrelated, but about the Kingdom Hearts part: according to KH2 everyone forgot about Sora for a while, so that means that his parents forgot about him for a year and suddenly remembered him again. It doesn’t make ANY sense, but I still love it

I always liked Queen Aleena the most, because she wasn't an adoptive mother (which doesn't explain who sonics mom is) but she's also not literally sonic but with extra hair as so many versions of sonic's family members are

7:06 The Archie Comics exactly planned on setting up a resolution to that storyline in issue 50 of Sonic Universe, but sadly the idea was scrapped. Thankfully, the Archie Sonic Online community is working on their own interpretation of the grand finale!

Literally everyone in the sonic community will agree that the “sonic was a normal hedgehog and was transformed by robotnik” was done by sega of Europe alone and was retconned due to not only being not a good backstory, not making sense, but it was also independent of the rest of sega. If I’m not mistaken you had the European copy of the first games? Or read the sonic bible?

Personally, I’m going with Brenda as the canon mom because she was in the manga and that came before Archie and Underground. I think we should see Tails’ parents more than we should see Sonic’s parents . Perhaps do a video on the Prowler family. It’s weird that Vanilla the Rabbit (Cream’s mother) is the only parent canon to the games. Also, I’m not keen on Sonic being royalty. It just doesn’t work with his personality.

When I was little, the only Sonic mom I knew was Queen Alaina, whom I liked but conflicted with my own OCs' existance, so I made my own parents for Sonic! It's not official, but still important to me to this day as an adult. If I had to chose though, Bernadette would probably be my favorite iteration of Sonic's mom. She's super cool

Theory: Sonic’s just an orphan. That’s why the games never mention him having parents. He grew up at an orphanage and now he just lives wherever he feels like.

I just saw images of the comics online and with SATBK confirming Sonic to be King Arthur or a Reincarnation which I've said in a seperate comment, it's why I believe 100% that Alena is his mom.

Thought you were gonna be meta and mention Madeline Schroeder the woman that essentially helped in some capacity with the conceptualization of Sonic by removing original aspects of his character like his girlfriend, rockband and fangs. She credits herself as "the mother of Sonic".

Favorite Sonic mom, is the one from the Archie comics, she did not mess around! LoL. As for the parents thing, I believe everyone has parents( Sonic, Amy, Shadows was Doom, but in terms of his true destiny, Dr Gerald is the best one) but just live independently, except cream, because she's still a kid. Sliver is a orphan imo, since his origins were never really detailed.

I think in games his parents could be pilots, ever on the move, what go in acord to Sonic being independent when the first game start he already travel around the world, and explain why he has the Tornado, as he don't have the skills to build one. PD: in the games live alone at the age Sonic have in the first game is apparently normal as Tails and Amy have their own house(in Sonic Battle), more or less all characters aside for Cream are hinted to live in their own house, well except for chaos Gamma and Shadow(he stay with Rouge as he was recovering for the events of previous games, simply don't have the time or energy to get one at this point)

Queen Aleena, no I'm serious because Sonic is the Modern Day Reincarnation of King Arthur and in the comics, he's destined to be a Knight and while those aren't canon, it still is something that happened and I'm considering this Version of him canon for this case.

I always assumed sonic’s parents were dead or something. The only parents we’ve seen is knuckles dad in sonic 2 (movie), vanilla who is also mentioned in generations, black doom, sonic and tails parents in comics and that’s it (oh and I guess sonic and tails count as parents for some comics as well since in some comics they have kids, NOT WITH EACH OTHER)

if anyone is interested in a potential conclusion to Sonic Underground's story, there is a website with a continuation of the Archie Comics, including the originally cancelled Sonic Universe issue 50, which was meant to conclude the cliffhanger of the show.

When it comes to Longclaw, at least in the original cut of the movie (with the bad design Sonic), she did flee to Earth with Sonic and lived with him until she dies from old age.

The moment I saw the title of the video, the first thing I thought of was sonic underground. I was so happy to see that it was included as I dont see many fans talking about it, most fans dont even know it exists. I watched the show all the time when I was little and I used to be really confused why they never found their mother. Because I was about 5 years old when I first watched the show I did not know any better so I justed watched all the episodes on loop thinking that it was still going and that it was just a really long show, when I was a lot older I found out that it was cancelled and thats why I they never found her.
