This alone is the sole reason why I strongly disagree with the conclusion of this video (not that it's a bad video). It takes significant power and cunning to maintain an entire city in enemy territory, which is exactly what she did to Molag Bal in Elder Scrolls Online with the Hollow City. She's certainly not the strongest daedric prince, but I'd hardly call her the weakest.

Bethesda likes using "the unreliable narrator" in their games, helps iron out plot holes made by rushed game designers. Personally, I wouldn't take a half-baked company for their word. but Peryite is canonically recognized as the "weakest" prince, but I think this is a case of "it not the size that counts its how you use it." that's playing a role in measuring power, and when it comes to deities in the elder scrolls lore, influence is power.

Trimimac was immensely power and its stated clearly that if Boethiah had not have deceived him, He could completely destroy her. Also killing Trinimac is very important since he and Auriel were the ones feeding up the elves with lies that Lorkhan was a traitor and must be killed, they started the never ending Elves vs Men war. She killed Trinimac and Showed the Chimer the truth, showed that Lorkhan created the mortal realm so mortals can reach their potential and achieve godhood, something Tiber Septim and apparently Vivec did. She and Mephala together, created the guide for the Chimer/Dunmer, the ways to ascend. Killing Trinimac the Lier was the thing that started all of it and the most important thing for me. @HickoryDickory864 жыл бұрын
@@slimretro2659 This. Exactly this! Boethiah was loyal to Lorkhan and exposed Trinimac and Auriel to be the traitors and liars they really are. I also am of the opinion that Akatosh leading Alessia in her rebellion was actually his own rebellion against Meridia (who seems to have been regarded by the Ayleids as the superior deity) in an effort to become chief of a new pantheon. And we do notice that Shezarr is conspicuously absent from that new (Imperial) pantheon as well. Hmmmm... That is, until Talos comes along and makes some room for himself. But the Aldmeri Dominion has seen to that being corrected, haven't they? Auriel/Akatosh wants the preeminence, and he has done everything he can to get rid of Lorkhan and any worship of or fealty to him. It's a lost cause, though. As the Heart said, "This is the heart of the world. One was made to satisfy the other." Mundus is Lorkhan's. Akatosh/Auriel is a usurper.

Clavicus Vile now claims the status as the weakest prince. I'm inclined to believe that in current times this puts him as top candidate for worst prince considering he actually admits to the Dragonborn being nearly as powerful as him. The Dragonborn far exceeds all but a small handful other mortals in Tamriel but isn't anywhere near a daedric prince in power. Or shouldn't be at least. Yet here we are... "As much as I hate to say it, you're almost as powerful as I am right now. But that's just because half of my power resides in that mutt, Barbas. Come to think of it, I know of a win-win situation for both of us." - Clavicus Vile to the Dragonborn during his quest. Now he does say that's because half his power is in Barbas but also remember that even with Barbas there Umbra devastated his realm and stole much of his power so he's still extremely weak currently.

I'd say the strongest princes are Hermeaus Mora, Jyggalag/Sheogorath, Nocturnal, and Molag Bal. I say this because Hermaeus Mora know literally all knowledge in the elder scrolls universe even out side of mundus and it is possible he may have knowledge of the godhead and the process to become the godhead or achieve Chim. Jyggalag/Sheogorath are by far the strongest overall of the princes due to the shear power both have over the mortal realm and in how the other princes fear them plus they have beaten the other princes more than any mortal or deity. Good examples include the time Sheogorath out smarted Hircine in a duel of beasts by using ingeniously using a bird to make hircines beast tear itself apart trying to kill the bird. Another good example is when Sheogorath stole a follower from Vaermina by beating her at her own game. Nocturnal is arguably one of the most powerful princes due to her having one of the most numerous and stable followings of mortals in mundus. It's also been shown she is extremely capable as she tricked clavicus vile into a deal her favor along with mephala. In fact through this deal Nocturnal almost conquered all of mundus in her attempt to gain control of the crystal tower in the summerset isles in the late second era during Molag bald invasion of tamriel. Molag Bal is also one of the strongest due to the fact besides Nocturnal, Clavicus Vile, and the Daedric Tribunal in Morrowind he has the most influence in mundus due to creating the vampires along with his near successful invasion and assimilation of tamriel. It could be argued that he was the closest to succeeding in his attempts more than any other Daedric prince.

If he's aware of the godhead and didn't zero sum like the dwarves, would he not have already achieved chim?
@finnegandavitt26434 жыл бұрын
Greg The NotGreat Technically the Dwemer didn't zero sum because if that was the case all knowledge of them as well as every mention of them and everything they ever did in the timeline would literally be erased and replaced by something else so no they didn't zero sum. Just like how Dagoth Ur didn't zero sum at the end of TES III but ascended to become a godhead but the reason we didn't see any of his dreams come true is because he is unaware he is the godhead as the godhead will always be. But in all reality it makes sense that Hermaeus Mora has already achieved Chim and did not zero sum because he is smart enough to accept that he is part of a dream. So it is reasonable to say Hermaeus Mora did infact achieve chim. (This the edited version of this comment.)
@slimretro26594 жыл бұрын
@@finnegandavitt2643 Gods and original spirits can't achieve chim, Thats why Lorkhan offered to create mundas, and he proved that by almost zero summing. Also its not canon that dagoth ur became the godhead, I don't think you can replace the godhead.
@finnegandavitt26434 жыл бұрын
Slim Retro There actually is a process where you can replace the godhead. As you may already know chim is when you learn that you and the entire elder scrolls universe is a dream but you accept that you are a part of this grand dream and that you don't matter. Replacing the godhead on the other hand is when you learn that everything is a dream but that you accept it's a dream and believe it is your dream and that you are the dreamer. This replaced you as the godhead but at the same time you are completely unaware you are the godhead. It makes sense that Dagoth Ur achieved it considering he already believed everything was created by him. Plus we know he didn't zero sum because the player character in future games finds reference of him in books about the Tribunal and the third era. It's for the same reasons why the Dwemer didn't zero sum because I universe player and non-player characters still know about them. Zero sum is when you don't accept the universe is a dream and therefore you, any mention of you and anything you ever did never happened and is completely erased across all of time and space.

@@finnegandavitt2643 Dagoth Ur was a false dreamer, delusional. What he believed was absolutely false and you can't mantle existing gods and especially the godhead. 1:00 The thing with Mehrunes Dagon is that, while he may not plan his invasions with the intent to fail, some power above his own, perhaps even the Elder Scrolls themselves, does. Dagon is the Lord of change and destruction, and while he himself might want power over the souls of Tamriel, a higher power is simply orchestrating this invasion to carry out Dagon's domain against his will, causing destruction and bringing about change without allowing Dagon to actually amass any real power. Essentially, every one of Dagon's invasions is just "Error: Task failed successfully" in action.

Mehrunes Dagon is the prince of destruction and change, his objective during the oblivion crisis was to change Tamriel forever which he succeeded by destroying the septum dynasty, and in doing so this led to the crippling of the empire as well as its eventual defeat in the Great War between the Aldmeri dominion which caused even more conflicts, I’d say Dagon did a pretty dam good job

Molag Bal: Daedric Prince of knocking on neighbors’ doors reading a note written by the judge

1. Sheogorath, the mad half of the Daedric Prince Jyggalag who was powerful enough to be a threat to all other Daedric Princes. 2. Azura. 3. Boeithiah. 4. MolagBal 5. Mehrunes Dagon. 6. Malacath, arguably has the 4th largest following and was quite powerful in his previous life as an Aedra. 7. Hermaeus Mora, impossible to out think or betray given his spheres of memory and knowledge. 8. Mephala, I don't consider her to be all that powerful but she is the third most venerated prince. 9. Vaermina. 10. Hircine, if you placed him higher or lower I wouldn't argue with you 11. Sanguine, his artifact the Sanguine Rose is among the best in Skyrim its just he doesn't do all that much in the lore. 12. Clavicus Vile, I feel he's nothing all that special although he does have many artifacts which puts him at the 12th spot imo. 13. Noctural: Doesn't do all that much though it can be argued she doesn't need to given her spheres of darkness and shadow. 14. Meridia, she can't defend her own sanctum despite being opposed to necromancy which one would think would stand her in good stead with many mortals. 15. Namira. 16. Peryite, only entrusted with the lowest levels of Oblivion. If you don't agree with these feel free to tell me why, I just felt that the list of the worst 3 daedra in this video wasn't quite right in my view.

I agree she’s the worst prince by context of the other Princes. Where the others enact some form of change, for good or ill, she wants stability and stasis of life. But unlike the Divines she’s somewhat Machiavellian about it in that she uses mortals for her own agenda and not the good of creation. There’s also evidence that she might actually be like the other Princes in that she also wants to conquer Tamriel. End of her quest in Skyrim, she talks about “spreading her light” and your character may rebuke her by telling her to get someone else to spread her religion. By that thought, mortals not being afraid of her may work to her advantage. She puts herself as an ally to people but in a sinister way. She’s helping you, but to what end? I’ve actually been wanting to see Meridia used as a main villain in the series at some point. Given her former status as a Magna Ge and her supposed ties to Lyg and being cast out of Aetherius, she’d be a very compelling villainess.
@finnegandavitt26434 жыл бұрын
The only way she’s going to be a villain is if the next game has the main plot revolves around you being a vampire chosen or some other undead shit involving your character.
@Altrantis4 жыл бұрын
She's actually kind of the villain in the knights of the nine DLC of oblivion, the main villain is her champion. Remember she fought against the divines when they sided with the nedes to overthrow her Ayleids. She has a frenemy relationship with the aedra. Also she helped Molag Bal create Merunes Dagon, that's the whole Lyg thing, and why she was banished and hates Molag Bal and his undead. She's not really good, but she's not evil either. She's vain and a rebel, she keeps working against the interest of other anuic beings like the Aedra and Magna Ge, and trying to get mortals to worship her, but she also is generally helpful and protecting. She and akatosh have a long history of working with each other and against each other, they have similar value systems, but they also want some of the same things sothey compete to get them for themselves, and Meridia's constant undermining and rebelling and disrespect gets on Akatosh's nerves because he's authoritarian and wants all the anuic beings working for him, and Meridia wants to do her own thing.
@jusey12 жыл бұрын
She might become a main villain in ESO, since she tricked the player in ESO to give her infinity power via the Crystal Tower of Summerset, or at least we can assume she would do that. Either way, we gave her the Crystal Tower to make sure that Nocturnal doesn't get it because "Dawnbreaker is a holy artifact, it will purge Nocturnal's darkness and corruption!" Yes, Dawnbreaker will do that but it is also still a Daedric Artifact.

I wouldn't call meridia weak. She went toe to toe against molag bal in his own realm, she flung a piece of her realm to his even and created a stronghold there, and durring summerset, she was able to defend her realm against nocturnal, even when all her sect upon summerset was defeated! His sword the dawnbreaker was also able to push back/damage Nocturnal's image and clease the stnoe of the tower. Also like other princes she can even convert other mortals and even daedra to her side. "The Purified are beings that have been lustrated for purification by the Daedric Prince Meridia. For mortals, this usually involves being stripped of their will and bestowed with the gift of immortality for the purpose of serving her for all eternity. The Purified are imbued with a golden radiance within their bodies that causes them to emit a glow from beneath their skin. Beings who join the ranks of the Purified include those who willingly pledge themselves to Meridia's service,[1] as well the unwilling[2], such as those who defy her.[2][3][4] They are also referred to as Lustrants by Molag Bal's Dremora minions,[5] though this is sometimes used as a catch-all term to refer to Meridia's followers.[UOL 1]" en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Purified
@kacperlesniewski90354 жыл бұрын
Nice video, but you made one, typical mistake when you spoke about Meridia. In TES:V she seems to be.... good, carring and she just hate undead. But thing which many people don't know is that... she hate humans too. In Merethic Era, when Ayleids had their kingdom in today Cyrodiil, they were following many Daedra. Meridia was one of them most important for them. She gave Ayleids army of Golden Knights which were one of the Ayleids main force. They build many tempels and shrines for her, but most important thing here is fact, that she was a patron of every game or ritual, in which humans were slain. After Alessia Rebelion, Meridia lost a lot of influence, becouse of humans, but she decited to take her revange in very supprising way. She was using mortals as her subjects and badly punish them if theyr fail, or after they died. She is only acting, in the heart she is as cruel as Dagon or Molag Bal.
@lepidlover05572 жыл бұрын
It's not that she hates humans, it's that she doesn't go back on her word. Makes sense seeing as how she was cast from Aetherius for consorting and being shady, she probably made it her resolution to not be deceptive and keep her part of whatever agreements were made. She backed the Aeylids because they made a pact with her and worshiped her. She was just doing what she promised. You can see this in ESO where Meridia quickly corrects the vestige "I did not lie, mortal. I simply didn't reveal that I was a Deadric Prince, and end up risking everything" Shes not hateful or deceptive, she just keeps to her word and does what she feels would best accomplish her goal while also not contradicting her nature less she wants the mortals who aid her to not want to associate with her again I've also seen it be said that the torment and sacrificial rituals of humans were because of the Aeylids worship of Bal, not Meridia.

One thing that I think should be considered is that as the daedra not only have their own planes of existance , but can reconstitute themselves should they 'die'. It doesn't seem like any of them really need mundus, rather it's just a source of entertainment to the princes, and an opportunity to impress for most lesser daedra. So I think the only prince who truly wanted to conquer Tamriel would be Molag-Bal. The rest may play a little rough, but would hate to break their favourite toy.

Meridia is a Daedric Prince in title only by virtue of having created and ruling over her own realm of Oblivion. In reality, she is a pure Anuic being and therefore of a different class altogether from both the Aedra (who are Anuic and Padomaic in equal parts) and the Daedra (purely Padomaic). That she "consorted with illicit spectra" is non-canon. It is not a phrase ever found in any material in the games. It was written, instead, on the Imperial Library website, but has never been backed up by any canonical, in-universe source. But assuming that it is canon, for the sake of argument, it can easily be explained away as in-universe propaganda meant to deter mortals away from worshipping Meridia (perhaps by the Alessian Order), especially considering her having been a major deity (if not the chief) of the Ayleid pantheon. My own theory, built upon the _Exegesis of Merid-Nunda,_ is that she _chose_ not to return to Aetherius with her father and siblings, prefering instead to stake out in Oblivion so as to remain in close proximity to Mundus (which _is_ partly her creation). That she is called "Lady of Infinite Energies" and said to "[ride? slide?] across the rainbow road from end to end, at one end stretching the Dragon, at the other end compressing him" suggests she serves a vital, stabilizing role for Mundus... perhaps as a (if not, dare I say, _the_ ) source of life on it, and apparently even having some control over its flow of time. And her power, dimished though it may be from what it originially was, is still very great and apparent. She destroyed Abagarlas, the central hub of Molag Bal worship for the Ayleids and home to their greatest temple to him. (And if you accept ESO as canon: She invaded Molag Bal's own realm, took over a chunk of it as her own, and personally faced him down, ultimately gaining victory of him along with those she aided. She played a vital role is saving Mundus from Bal's Plane Meld.) And long before these events, she had invaded Oblivion itself and carved out a realm of her own, despite _all_ the Daedric Princes demanding she leave. As the _Exegesis_ puts it: "The Lords of the Chaos-Realms chided Merid-Nunda for her trespass and bade her return to Aurbis, claiming all existing spheres as their own. But Merid-Nunda formed of her substance a great drag-lens, and the light of Magnus was bent thereby. The rays [carved? focused?] a new sphere from the chaos, which Merid-Nunda, [laughing? sparkling?], did claim for her own." Sorry for thesis. I just think Meridia is the most interesting and badass of the Daedric Princes, and I desperately wish she got a lot more love and attention in the main titles.
@rob2664 жыл бұрын
She’s not weak! She didn’t invest any power in Mundus. She almost did. Like Magnus. But left before she did so. She created her realm from the light of the sun, Magnus, because it’s the light of atherius. A realm she belongs to. She was banished. But instead of joining the other Daedra, whom she despises, she left with her head held high, and in her own view, created her own paradise. She is likely the most famous, powerful magne-ge. She outwitted Molag Bal through indirections, minions and followers. Not only Bal. but also the triad. It was her weapon that ended nocturnals plans.

1. @0:50 - Change. Mehrunes Dagon succeeded at everything he has done because he seeks to change the world in one way or another, not to dominate or take over the world (that is Molag Bal's plane). 2. @3:58 - She tricked the player into giving her control over the Crystal Tower, which can be used to allow to combine yourself with every single timeline variation of yourself due to how the tower is in every plane of existence, every timeline, etc (timey wimey stuff). Basically, Meridia's power is infinity because the player in ESO used Dawnbreaker to repair the Crystal Tower which in turns gave her control over the tower, and essentially allows her to do this... At least, this is to be assumed so far. It hasn't been confirmed fully that Meridia used the Crystal Tower to make her power infinity or not, but it is something she can easily do and has access to do... So... Yeah.

Personally, I think Molag Bal is probably the worst. He's a good foil to Mehrunes Dagon; Dagon is supposed to bring change because that's his "purpose," but Bal only wants to bring Tamriel down only because he loves domination and enslavement. You're right in the video; Dagon is an idiotic brute, but Molag Bal is cold, cunning, and worst of all knows *exactly* what he's doing. His ambitions might not be as big as Dagon's, but he's still so incredible at fucking with people and altering events through tactical brutality.
