Frank killed Morgan and went to the train depot to finish the job but got more than he expected.

Fred Dodge stated in his book that Johnny Barnes told him Wyatt killed Curly Bill, and Fred was taken to Frank Patterson’s ranch and shown Curly’s dead body. It is also well known that the night Morgan was shot in the back by the cowardly cowboys that Wyatt knew everyone that was involved before the night was over.

I don't think Wyatt would have let Curly Bill live, he was the ring leader of the cowboys. So no matter if Frank killed Morgan or not Curly Bill would have given the order for it to happen. I've always thought it would have been Frank Stilwell or Pete Spence. I will also forever believe Wyatt and friends of Wyatt killed Curly Bill and Johnny Ringo.

Fascinating Old West history. I went to Tombstone a couple of times when I was in Tucson on business. It was fascinating. An interesting time in American history. Thank you for the research.

Just because Jack Stillwell said in a newspaper article that he THOUGHT his brother Frank killed Morgan proves nothing.
@randysinclair8757 Жыл бұрын
I agree, also...it's a popular deflection among a group of suspects is to blame the one who is already dead and can't defend themselves. I'm not saying Frank didn't do it but I don't believe there is any conclusive evidence.

Movies always leave out James and Warren Earp when re-telling the story.
@plymouthduster2253 жыл бұрын
Yes they do and I have always wondered why.
@douglasturner61532 жыл бұрын
James was a disabled Civil War veteran that ran a bar. Not active like the other brother's. Warren came out after Virgil was wounded. He was something of an embarrassment to the other's since he was "Gay as a Goose" as he would be called today. Also had a nasty disposition. Was killed later by his "Partner".
@joecascio2073 Жыл бұрын
Same conclusion I came to after doing a considerable amount of research. Both worked at the same ranch and were lovers. Warren had some hang ups and a nasty disposition.

Well done, sir. I am 55. Visited Tombstone for 3 days for the first time this summer. I flew into Tucson. I would have gone to the marker where Stilwell was shot if I knew it was there at the time (I didn’t learn that until a few weeks after).

Good God! I watched this whole video and found out at the end it was Frank Stilwell just as Wyatt Earp had thought all along. I thought you were going to name a new shooter. Still doesn't say how his brother Jack in Oklahoma knew it was really him. But I guess it's safe to say he would have made enquiries in Arizona to verify the facts. BTW. Where's the proof Curley Bill was still alive after Earp left Arizona? I've never seen any evidence of that. He was a fairly flamboyant personality and would have been seen a lot and his presence noted since Earp claimed to have killed him.

Douglas, There will be new information about Curley Bill in the near future, which will be in the WWHA Journal. If you are a member, you will receive it in the mail. The Journal is not online.

@@WildWestHistoryAssociation Will you have it on one of your video's? This has been a subject of much speculation as long as I can remember and I'm 75 now.

I find it unlikely that Wyatt would allow Curly Bill to live.

Thank you sir for all your research. I always thought it was Frank. I don't know why but I did. Wyatt killed a lot of people trying to get the one who killed Morgan. Well he got the right one. I always thought it was amazing that Wyatt never got shot. Thanks again for your story.

I wonder where history would be if Wyatt had been shot instead of Morgan.
@rickkinki46242 жыл бұрын
I haven't watched this video yet, and I'm about to. But I'll lay money on Morgan's assassins being Frank Stilwell, Pete Spence, and Frederick Bode, with Hank Swilling and Indian Charlie as lookouts.
@rickkinki46242 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you came up with the same conclusion I did. I didn't name Stilwell as the actual gunman, but he was there for sure. But I disagree with you about Curly Bill. Johnny Barnes was wounded in the same shootout that Curly Bill died in, and he independently confirmed Wyatt's version of what happened. It makes no sense to me that Curly Bill vanished without a trace. I'm sure Wyatt killed him that day, as reported.
