OH MY GOODNESS! Some of the messages you get really rile me up! I was just talking to my mama today about your channel and how much I love it because ya'll are just so positive and make my day so much brighter. I told her how busy you always are and I can hardly wait to see what is going to happen next. Then, I watch this video and people are commenting about all the things you need to do??? Have they not been paying attention? You are trying to create a homestead in a matter of months. You had to move just as fast as you possibly could so you were completely organized when you got to your new property. You had to set up living quarters, including buy a tiny home for your mom to live in. You've ran water lines, electrical lines, fencing, plowed and dressed a field for veggie garden and flowers, are picking out items for the new houses, lining up workers, building an orchard, um....what else???? I can't imagine doing that in a lifetime let alone months and people are saying you have things that you still need to do? Yes. How about a nice vacation? Oh, you poor, poor people. You do not deserve to hear these things. Anyone who watches on a regular basis knows you are going to get things done when you have the time to do them. Oh, did I mention who have a daughter you are raising and homeschooling and a mother you are helping. Yeah, well, that just fell through the cracks of the couch while you were binge watching shows. (can you tell I'm a bit riled up?) You are loved and cared for deeply by so many people. We love to watch just a glimpse of your lives and are excited with all the things that you are doing. We are happy when things fall into place and things are happening. I am excited to see how you end up arranging and barn and what you do with the other structure you've been cleaning up. There is just not enough time in the day to make everyone happy but I want you to know I LOVE YOU and I think you are WONDERFUL people! Sorry for the rant!

Oh boy howdy!! I am right there with ya! People that say 💩 like that REALLY GRIND my gears!! Like seriously... Are they just THAT new, they don't know... Or just that dang rude?!? I often worry about these two, legit, spreading themselves too dang thin... Then end up being sick!! Come on people.. BE BETTER!! DO BETTER! Kindness is FREE! Sprinkle that stuff everywhere ❣️❣️

I agree 100% with all you commented here! Out of all the subscribers they have I’m sure it’s very few that would be that Nieves as to think they can add anymore to their plates at this time,or maybe they are new subscribers that maybe need to go back and start from the beginning of the videos like I did an few yrs ago to catch up starting at the lil cog!! I’m hoping it’s not a bunch of old subscribers that are expecting more out of Jason,Brooke,Mary Carl and Momma,I doubt it though or maybe I’m just trying to put a nieve positive spin on these kinda comments!! Love all you do Smith family❤️🇨🇦

Feeding the animals is part of homesteading and I for one enjoy it. I am 72 now and only have my family of chihuahua t as animAls now so that's why seeing your animals keeps me happy. I enjoy seeing your building progress, but there are lots of channels out there that I started to watch that started with animal content and now is nearly 100% house build. Your format is nicely balanced . Please don't change it.

MaryCarl is so knowledgeable! When I first found Cog Hill Farm, I thought she just knew chickens. Boy, was I wrong! Congratulations! Go for it! I had a white pigeon, about 40 yrs ago. Skipper was given to me. I was told it was a girl, but IF she was, she never laid an egg! I could hold her and she’d put her head under my neck and croon to me. I miss her. I am going to look up the new website. I’m glad y’all know what you like and like what you know! I’m glad things are going better than 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. Stay safe and warm! Jason I’m 73 and I built my house just like you guys are. I will add 1 thing about the floors. I had the concrete man score my floors @16” on diagonal. Then after the concrete cured he put a special concrete wax and buffed them. They are mat and not high gloss. These floors are now 20 yrs old and they are still beautiful. People think they are marble. They do age differently. The kitchen have deepened in color due to spills etc. but they still are beautiful. I will warn however. NEVER drop a bottle of vinegar. It eats the cream off immediately. You can’t wipe it fast enough. Other than that you won’t regret the grey. I would consider waxing because it really has protected my finish.

My brother got to love the sound of morning doves when he was stationed in the south. He brought 3 nesting pairs home but one day the coop got left open and they escaped. Now 40 years later, there are morning doves in at least 3 counties up north here, where they never were before. Love the sound they make.

I put a garage floor coating on my basement floor and I just love it. If I ever sell this house the next owner can cover it with something else if they don’t like it. The coating is more decorative than plain concrete and makes the basement look finished. Check out The Kelley’s Country Life on KZfaq for some additional ideas. Andrew is building a barndominium in Florida.

I just finished watching this episode and I will have to say that MaryCarl is one of the most learned children I have ever seen. Her passion for being so involved in the raising and keeping of her pigeons is well beyond her years!!! It's one thing to be smart but another to be intelligent. MaryCarl is both!!! It's nice to see a young person physically being a part of something besides walking around with a phone/gaming device in their hand. I know that y'all are incredibly proud of her and you should be. I pray she never loses her thirst for knowledge. She is truly refreshing to listen to and I learned that pigeons and doves are the same species. Never would have thought it. Thank you sweet lady, you can teach an old dog new tricks!!!

Marycarl did a wonderful job of cohosting on the podcast. She is getting more confidence with speaking about just not birds but in general. Thanks dad for being a good partner in speaking about her birds.

It’s YOUR home, not anyone else’s. Stick to your instincts and make it look how you want it to. Love seeing the progress! Love seeing all the animals too💗

I always enjoy Jason and Brooke's conversations, but it is especially nice when MC is also there. She is a wealth of information on her birds that I enjoy hearing her explain. Things I was never aware of. "Y'all have a good day now, ya hear?"

I’m as interested in your building and with excitement, the reason I joined the squad a few years ago was the animals, gardening and sometimes the recipes when given. Your building everything is a bonus 😊 I don’t know if you’ve thought about it, maybe plumbing for a heated concrete floor? I have it here in Oregon and LOVE it! Also, if you don’t stain it, please at least seal it. It does stain if not.
