Would truly enjoy story time. I am a 67 year old retired marine that loves kayak bass fishing and truly enjoy watching and learning from all 4 of you.

You guys like a little history so here is a tid bit for you. Humminbird got great sonar from an employee of Gould Ocean Systems who was a whiz at Navy Sonar. David "Denny" Betts quit to go to Humminbird and have free reign on putting sonar technology to work in the real world. Over the years I have tried them all. Raymarine commercial, Furuno, Sperry marine naval, Garmin, Humminbird, Simrad, and Lowrance. Here is what I like about Lowrance. Number UNO, I can dog behind you guys one or two models back and have the assurance that my unit will still support future features. I am on Lowrance Carbon now and could put Active Target 2 and the new HD 3 in 1. Second I have had two Lowrance units with problems. A few days later I have a working unit, either new or fixed in my hands. And that is with shipping each way. Lowrance is also the easiest to use period. I really like your opinions on fishing, MDJ comes up with good Rate The whatever and you guys pull no punches.

Mark, don't worry about it running too long. Those of us that watch this stuff trying to learn and make ourselves better want long videos, especially when it's letting us inside the minds of the 4 of y'all. Please keep these segments long and overly detailed.

Jacob is so right on FFS. The cone angles between Garmin and Lorance at the same frequency is the deal on distance. These are fun but, STORY TIME would be AWESOME!!!

Been running the navionics vision + maps from garmin, where I fish they are amazing, plus the built in sidescan images for bottom hardness and gps photos on certain lakes has been sweet

Jacob is the Professor. Him being a Free agent, utilizing the best combos of graphs, seeing which works best together like either last year or the year before he had Garmin live scope, HB Maps and had Lowrance. He was testing them out and other Pros seen him doing that, Gerald Swindle for 1 he did the same thing along with several other Pros. Jdubb was the 1st because he was not sponsored, Gman was with HB but left them to try to utilize the best graph combos. Not sure what Gman is running in 24. He mentioned he seen a BPT pro using different companies on a podcast so Wheeler was the only 1 during that time.

You also need to take the fact that you're running HDS Pros, you're running sea clear wire harnesses, your running 100AH + batteries, etc. for the average joe what's better?

I think garmin processors are the best hands down. And that’s important to me. My 20yo handheld garmin gps zooms to like 20ft and I can pass over a small rock in a 50ft yacht on the first pass everytime. It’s hard to believe. It only uses my waypoints but It’s more accurate than the $20k huge screen Simrad setup that’s installed on the boat.

All I ask, or need, from my electronics is an accurate depecition of what's under my boat and the water temp.....I can take if from there. I started with an old Humminbird Super 60, went to a Lowrance X-50, then, to Garmin 140s and 160s, and now, to Garmin Striker 5CVs.....and, they are sufficient.

I’m still watching but here’s my opinion. We all have one. Especially on the internet. 😂 I love my Humminbird units that I have at my console and bow. The Lakemaster chips are amazing and have really helped me break down lakes I’ve never been to. I think Humminbird also holds the trophy with the side imaging and down imaging game. I still use mega 360 which is why I have a 3rd Humminbird at my bow. Garmin has FFS absolutely on lock. I had MegaLive but ultimately swapped to LVS 34 and that was the best choice I ever made. As far as the units themselves, I’m still rocking 3 Helix 10’s (G4N’s) and my garmin is a Echomap Ultra 10. I hate that my helix units are not touch screen and the processors are kinda slow so running down a lake at speed it can fail to render properly sometimes. I love that my garmin is touchscreen and the unit is way more responsive than the helix units. I could have gone Solix for my humminbirds but I was informed they use the same processors and the added functionality of touch screen on the Solix units makes them even laggier than the helix at times. As for Apex, they cost way too much for me to even entertain. I can’t speak to Lowrance as I don’t have any experience with them.

I don’t have FFS on my triton but my buddies that have it get to stuck looking at it and I feel forget they can fish without it and wind up behind scrambling while I got a limit from flipping grass, pea gravel, points and 2ndary points and the back of pockets and creeks. No I wish I had FFS

Props to Lowrance and Garmin for winning the game of tournament fishing by selling everyday people $10k-70k equipment. Never in my life have I seen so many people spend more than they will ever win over their lifetime of tournament fishing on electronics. I get buying a $100k boat bc you dreamed of having that boat and rewarding yourself for working hard, but we all know the boat doesn't catch the fish. The electronics give a distinct advantage to those willing and able to spend the money for higher performing equipment to catch fish, so that's why it needs to be regulated in tournaments or maybe tournaments should have anglers compete in divisions based on their equipment/career earnings to even the playing field for anglers. For example, if you have the best of the best graphs (Garmin 8616 vs UHD 93sv) you shouldn't be allowed to fish against anyone without it. It makes me cringe to think that pro's, loaded with the best of the best electronics, willingly fish against up and coming guys (BFL + Toyota + Invitationals). It is like watching a high schooler beat up a middle school handi-cap kid then the high schooler calling everyone cry babies when something is said about it being wrong.

For maps and for entry level, i think GARMIN is the best with QUICKDRAW CONTOURS. the other brand have not maps. And finally Garmin is easier to use and the original and automatic settings are really good
