Philippines has older maps that claimed the Scarborough shoal/Panatag Islands to be own by the Philippines. It dated back 1700's, compare to the historical map of China that were released in 1930s/40s. So, Philippines has more right to claim Panatag Islands, and that's a fact!

As a Filipino, it makes me so sad that China keeps insisting that the entire goshdarn sea is theirs when it belongs partially to Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines. We won the battle in Netherlands, our hardworking officials proved that China's claims are both FALSE LEGALLY AND HISTORICALLY. As a Vietnamese, I still remember the time when China's boats first attacked ours, probably in 2014 or 2015. We were utterly shocked and it quite a topic of the year. It has died down now but I still see some headtitles about Chinese ships and our fishing vessels. It is an unvoiced worry of ours that China has already got Truong Sa. I heard about the whole business with the Phillipines and am quite worried. China is going lengths to claim our seas.

Every country has its own name version of this sea. However, the international name of this sea is still South China Sea and it doesn't imply that China owns this sea, but merely implies the sea's position. Indian Ocean doesn't mean it belongs to India and so do this.
