I love the detail that Joy is the only one whose hair and eye color doesn't match her body color. Her body is yellow, yet her hair and eyes are blue. They were foreshadowing how there can't be joy without sadness from the start.

I just realized, a lot of reactors, when they first watch this movie, they always get mad at Sadness, blaming Sadness for everything that happened, when in reality it was Joy trying to disrupt what should have been a normal process, and that's what knocked them out of the headquarters together

@@RedMenace71right! she’s only in tune with riley’s child mine for most of the movie & isn’t intricate/doesn’t have the depth that sadness does. she ruins riley’s overall mental health with her toxic positivity, which just pushes riley & her preteen mind further into her functional depression

Another favorite detail: the emotions of the mom are all female and work as a team. The emotions of the dad are all male and work as a team. Riley's emotions are gender mixed and have difficulty working together when having to make a decision. Shows how chaotic and unorganized the mind of a child is.

I think it might be potentially because Riley doesn't really identify as anything, because the teenage boy's emotions are all boys and the cool girl's emotions are all girls even though they're both also kids.... Or at least also Riley's age.

my favourite theory is riley is possibly genderfluid. i did a study on the transgender brain my senior year of high school in an advanced independent biology class. many studies show the connection between being trans and having a brain whos thought process reacts most similar to the gender the identify as rather than the sex they were born as. for example; a trans mans brain will react and think more similarly to that of a cis man than a cis woman. therefore its easier to deduce that a genderfluid brain may be a mix of both.

When the console was going grey and they couldn’t make Riley feel anything it hit me that’s what depression does if you ignore your sadness for too long. It makes you numb so you can’t feel anything even if you try. This movie came out at a time when I wasn’t OK and it really helped me understand that the first step to recovery was to really let myself cry. Thanks Pixar.

of all the reactions to this movie i've watched, Maria's reaction is the sweetest honestly. She catched Joy's red flags so early on, and the way she was commenting from the beginning about how it wasn't right the way they were dealing with Sadness... i guess i had gotten so used to first time reactors being frustrated with Sadness and having little empathy for her that seeing this now just had me so fuzzy and warm inside

Why does Bing Bong always make me cry? I can’t remember if I had a childhood imaginary friend but I can somehow feel their absence regardless. Or perhaps it is simply a fear of being forgotten that triggers the sorrow.

This movie is INCREDIBLE with color theory. Riley: striped shirt as they're moving with all colors on them to show theyre in harmony, or so it seems. yellow jacket on the first day of school because she's still young enough to be excited. Striped shirt sans blue and yellow at the dinner table because all of her emotions are fighting for control with joy and sadness gone. Black jacket because she's emotionally shutting down. Emotions: joy has blue hair, backing up the theory joy and sadness go hand in hand. Disgust has a purple ascot, suggesting disgust is mainly motivated by what scares us. Anger is wearing a red tie showing how when were angry, we can't see, hear, or feel anything else. Think, "seeing red". Fear itself is purple, a mix of red and blue, or in this case, anger and sadness. And finally Sadness is wearing a white turtleneck as a combination of all the emotions, like how all light is combined to make white light.

+Digust is green a mix of Joy and Sadness. I also love how how intermingled Sadness seems to be regarding Disgust and Joy(who has a green dress, so I'm curious what that means, like is joy sometimes covered by Disgust/concealed by Disgust) which both have pops of Sadness(blue) in their outfits. Also the mom's emotions seems to have the most mix of colours within each emotion and the all the emotions seeing through the red glasses(seeing through the Anger), which is also pretty interesting and if it was something they meant to do, is an interesting commentary on moms. You're very right the color theory and how much it plays into this is very cool, I hope it's intentional. Especially with the idea that no emotion is one thing by itself, they're complex and have touches of each others. A cool submeaning within the greater meaning of the film.

A lot of people miss the point of this film when watching it, often siding with joy, possibly because they think of the emotions as sentient or conscious beings, when in reality they're just our emotions, I love how you are more in touch with what's happening in this film and can actually see The purposes behind everything that's happening, aware of the importance of sadness, like I said a lot of people tend to decide with joy because they view sadness as a mistake or something bad I don't know what that says about them they're just missing it because that's the way we're supposed to interpret it, or they're just not emotionally mature enough to understand the situation, either way you seem to have a very good grasp of The importance placed on sadness in this film and why sadness needs to be felt and is so important. Again this is something that a lot of people miss, why does Riley start feeling sad when she looks back on her time in Minnesota, it's because that time is over now and Joy isn't letting Riley feel sad, we see this throughout the film that it's not just sadness, joy has become toxic joy, something that is very unhealthy for Riley, where she doesn't really let her feel anything other than joy, as she shows us almost all of Riley's memories from her childhood are happy, because joy only wants Riley to be happy, but Riley can't always be happy she needs to feel the other emotions as well and while Joy may let her feel anger or discussed or fear, we see it when everything changes and all these emotions start popping up in more detail where there is more red orbs and purple orbs and green orbs then there are yellow and that upsets joy, but no more present than with sadness, where she treats sadness like a mistake like she shouldn't exist tries to push her down or lock her away, she's not letting herself grieve or feel sad and I partially blame the parents for this, I say partly because if they had talk to her then this film would've been very different, but I also understand that within the context of the film they are dealing with their own stuff and probably just didn't take the time to sit down with Riley and talk to her about what she was feeling, it would've been so easy to say, I know you want to be happy or I know we want you to be happy, but it's okay if you feel sad or angry or afraid because moving is a big deal and I know how sad it can feel to lose your home or lose your friends, I think if her parents had said something like this to her it would've helped her to better understand her emotions and maybe even understand why sadness was so important, a lot of people don't realise that you don't just grieve over the loss of loved one or friend when they pass, you can grieve over literally anything it can be as simple as, the loss of your hometown, the loss of a sports team or moving away from a friend, there are so many things that you can grieve over in life and grief comes in many different forms that a lot of people don't really think about, moving can be difficult because you're saying goodbye to a lot of memories, that scene where Riley is talking in front of the class about all the fun things she used to do in Minnesota and gets angry when sadness touches the core memories, is something that a lot of people don't take the time to think about, the reason this is happening is because those memories aren't joyful anymore, she's moved away they can't be happy because she isn't there, the memories of her friend the memories of her team and her home, they're all sad now because things have changed and joy won't except that we understand that, we also see when sadness is talking to bing bong and is cheering him up to make him feel better and Joy doesn't understand how she's able to do that, I don't know if this was intentional or not but we see it especially with joy and sadness, but a little bit with the other emotions as well, where joy is a mix of yellow and blue, showing that you can feel both happy and sad at the same time and that those emotions are linked, we also see this when joy falls into the pit and she's able to feel sad and she spins the globe around and sees that Riley has a memory that has two emotions, showing that you are able to feel more than one thing in a moment where situation because that's life it's very common to feel more than one emotion a time and to look back on memories, memories that were once happy will in later life appear sad because things have changed or vice versa they might start out sad and when you look back on them they're happy, although nostalgia isn't in the first inside out film, we see glimpses of it with sadness and joy together interact when it comes to those memory orbs, that is a form of nostalgia showing that when you look back on something your prescription of it can change, it can start out and then then turn sad because your life is different now, or a sad memory can turn into a happy memory later on, because you're looking at it through a new perspective or through a new lens, a lot of people don't think about the importance of our different emotions and how complicated they can be, another thing people point out in this film is why does Riley get depressed near the end of the film when she rides the bus, there are different forms of depression, but in Riley's case the form of depression we see is actually a lack of sadness, the reason she's depressed is because in this case depression is taking on a form of loneliness and fear she's at a point where she's been suppressing her sadness and not being able to feel sad it's causing her to turn to things like anger and fear and letting that control her to the point where everything goes away and that's why sadness is able to bring everything back because her lack of feeling sad caused her to just shut down her form of depression was caused through a lack of feeling sad allowing herself to grieve over what had happened to her which is very understandable, it's so important to feel sad and have a good cry because it will make you feel better most of the time, life isn't perfect but like we see in inside out your emotions are complex and complicated sometimes, without them you're just numb, so you need to feel especially you need to feel sadness because happy times come out of sad times and vice versa, you can't have one without the other all your emotions are linked in different different ways and we see this in the film that all the emotions are connected but no more so then sadness and joy which are connected in ways that are so complex, that neither one can exist without the other both unnecessary to be happy, in order for Riley to feel joy she has to feel sadness, it's like what people say you can't feel hate without feeling love you can't know what love is without hate same with sadness you can't know what joy is if you've never been sad It takes time to realise this, she is creating an unhealthy and toxic environment for Riley having toxic joy means that she's not letting herself process her emotions or grieve she just pretending like everything is fine when it's long-term consequences which we see in the film. Again I think a lot of this could be avoided if her parents had just sat down and told her it's okay to feel sad, sadness is a part of life and so is anger, you're not always going to be happy and it's okay to grieve the loss of things you miss like your home or your friends or your school or whatever it might be, because that's life and those things are gonna happen, all you can do is pick yourself up and find the good in the bad.

I didn't see anybody mention this, but I wasn't here for the premiere so, like everyone seems tointerpret the loss of core memories and access to it as like feeling nothing or losing touch with emotions. But I think it's more so like not knowing who you are anymore, rather than shutting down. Because later on when we do see her lose touch with her emotions and shut down, its seems different to how the lose of core memories is expressed which for me plays of more as confusion. And that is so relatable. Usually it happens gradually but, like realising that some part of you that you thought was important just isn't anymore, and the confusion and questions of 'Why isn't it important?" or "why was it?" or trying to reconnect with it by just not being able to is such a small but important thing that I'm just glad was incorporated into the movie. It's a great movie, and I'm really glad you guys reacted/re-reacted to it. Great job, love this channel.

The shades are highly-pigmented and last a VERY long time - like, almost too long (I often have to use cooking oil and a paper towel to remove the color completely). Pro tip: Make sure your lips are exfoliated and completely dry before applying. I also suggest getting an extra tube of clear (gloss) topcoat because the moisture will run out long before the color does. 💋✨

@cometgirl217 wow, thanks! I definitely don’t want my lipstick to last that long, but thanks for sharing 😊 - Maria

@@samandmariachannel lol, makes sense! I tend to reserve it for special events (like friends’ weddings) when I want to rock a bright red lip, but not worry about staining fancy clothes or reapplying throughout the night
