All these artists are exceptionals but Celine Dion and Whitney Houston are Best of the Best, they are unparalleled. But when t comes to belting Vanessa Amorosi, Katrina Velarde and Jennifer Hudson were so good too.

I beg to differ. In the last 40 years the best singer hands down is Mariah Carey. My favorite female singer of all time is Whitney who could really do most songs justice. But speaking on pure talent, Mariah runs away with it. Wonder why there is no Mariah on the battles I've watched?

@@Sttephy30 I'm not trolling. I don't know why people won't give Mariah her due. I've never really cared for her as a personality but you cannot overlook her talent. During her prime she had the best octave range (8) AND perfect pitch. Whitney had perfect pitch but not the octave range (5).

@@winh998 Mariah Carey is/was amazing. Great voice, and amazing songwriting. But she's NOT the best vocalist, and even Mariah will tell you that. There's many well trained and polished vocalists than Mariah Carey. And Whitney Houston was one of them. Range is great but it doesn't make you a better vocalist.

What makes Whitney's and Celine's performances special is because while the rest seem to reach out for notes, the two sound like they are singing to someone directly. You can feel a personal connection in those two.
