I told my tattoo artist I wanted a Kintaro. And he got inspired by the painting where Kintaro is riding the Koi fish. Now I have that art on my forearm, knowing more about his background is exciting!

What a cool tattoo idea! Hopefully this video can give you an interesting story to tell the next time someone asks you about your ink :)

of course! thanks for the video! I loved the sumo wrestling part, and just as he said: tattoos on the body not only are for decoration purposes but also for telling a story.

YES short hair. so cool I love mythology and folklore and as a longtime fan of manga and anime so fun learning more about Japan. It's one of the top places I want to visit someday especially if I can do it while the sakura trees are blloming.

I had short hair for so many years...tempted to cut it again now actually 😂 Oh! Do you have a favorite manga or anime? If you do make it over here while I'm still here, you've got a free tour guide for Kyushu! :)

@@MaedBetweenthePages it is quite a good look on you. I do have favorites of both (I even have too 5 videos for both) but they include things like Sailor moon, rebirth, fullmetal alchemist, inu yasha. Wbu? Oooh yay how long are you planning to be there?

@@RodgersReads Aww thank you! 💕 ohhh I’ll need to check out those videos asap then 👀 I think we grew up on the same generation of stuff. For manga Fruits Basket was my holy grail. Anime was very much Sailor moon, Inuyasha, and Pokémon vibes 😂 basic af

The artistic representations of the koi Was one that he Challenged the Koi in the water to see who would get tired first and beat eachother and Kintaro ends up catching the koi (Namazu) after being tired and grabs him out of the water

I have irezumi (tattoo) or Kintaro grabbing the carp out of water and gashadokuro pulling on his garments like the curtain for the life Kintaro would endure as a samurai to which he dies from the world spider he fought however the carp teased him and Kintaro knew he could be beaten and so the carp got tired and Kintaro snagged him he never gave up but the iteration of his mother dying by the carp makes it a cool revenge story

I find this funny because I am japanese and my name is kintaro I can't speak the language though and I recently moved here. I'm 13 and everyone jokes because I resembled him when I was little and there are many similarities between me and the character 😂

Welcome to Japan! :) I mean, Kintaro is not a bad character to be connected to! He's a pretty quintessential hero here 🙌
