I think these two fighters are the perfect examples as for why scaling is so prevalent in vs debates, because it's completely ridiculous to suggest that King Dedede can stand a chance against Kirby without scaling to him, and the same to King K. Rool with Donkey Kong.

I totally get where your coming from some people say you shouldn’t powerscale while in my mind if or not your power scaling you should atleast look at the feat

Well, yes, but actually no. The thing is, Dedede _doesn't_ necessarily stand a chance against Kirby, nor King K. Rool against Donkey Kong, just because they compete against each other. Now, if by powerscaling you mean treating the competition itself as a feat, that's a messy issue. You can get feats for attack power by observing that a character has caused harm to another character whose durability is known, but for any other feats it's hard to tell, as it's often not feasible to assume a character is using their maximum attack power or maximum speed in any single instance.

The thing that they scale to is tanking hits and being able to deal damage to those characters. If Donkey Kong can casually punch a moon out of orbit, and K.Rool can tank a punch meant to knock out from DK, he's on that same tier in terms of durabillity, otherwise he'd explode into pieces, even if he wasn't necessarily as strong or durable as DK. Same goes for Dedede as well.

@@Metawire61 Except K.Rool was stated to be physically stronger and faster than DK. And Dedede is shown as physically stronger than Kirby in the games.

Great Episode! Starting to notice some improvements in terms of transitions so that's great, music and animation is fantastic as usual and hey I absolutely agree with the verdict this time. The 2 things I could point out is in terms of animation it was weird (not bad) that k rool changed sprite styles in the middle of it. Other than that my only actual complaint is the fact that the verdict felt wayyyyyyyyyy to short. Its like 50 seconds long even if the battle is clear cut (not saying this one is) you should explain how Dedede could get past of k rools arsenal and multiple other factors of the fight and go more into detail about each advantage both have like compare dedede and k rools best strength feat and why k rools is worse you know otherwise it doesn't feel explained enough. Other than that great job man.

These videos are amazing! Also, some more recent powers that King Dedede has now: -His strength is wayy higher, in the Crackity Hack minigame alongside Kirby, Meta Knight and Bandana Dee, they all broke planets in a single punch. This is in Kirby's return to dreamland deluxe. -Dedede's durability is also advanced too. -Dedede has another power: in Kirby's Pintall Land, he can shoot light bulbs out of his hands. -Dedede's hammer can smash trough entire buildings. -Dedede can also grow way taller like K Rool and Bowser. -Dedede has robots, such as HR-D3 or the Dededestroyer X (Dededestroyer X can summon other Kirby's that are aggressive in Dedede's oppents). I really like how you used the Rocket Launcher from Kirby Block Ball, nobody brings up that weapon that Dedede has and i'm glad that someone brought it up.

And a different ruleset. Death battle tends to high-ball many characters and we tend to stay more grounded. But yeah! Similar in concept :)

"Supersized Chunky, who's likely around 300 pounds" You actually lowballed him here. DK, in that very game, is stated to be 800 pounds, with regular Chunky clearly larger and thus heavier. I forget whether it was the manual or the game itself, but I believe Chunky is canonically 2K pounds _before_ enlargement. Now to keep watching and see if that actually mattered. EDIT: "Nowhere close" sounds like the 2.5X strength feat re-balancing would actually tip the scale, so I guess the victory is legitimate.

Y'all realize K. Rool is about twice DKs height in DKC, so, since dk is canonically 7'10", K. Rool is about 15'8", making him nearly 8 times decades height
