Hey Jojo...I'm a 70 year old guy who just discovered "reaction" videos a few months and just love seeing your generation enjoying the music I loved back in the day (and still do). The Eagles have several songs that tell stories. One my favorites besides 'Hotel California' is 'Lyin' Eyes', hope you do a video on that sometime. And another storytelling song I love is 'Alibis' by Sergio Mendes. Looking forward to watching more of your reviews. Good job!

To be fair I respect your opinions and that’s what’s nice about opinions they can’t be wrong. But a lot of things that are not on the radio/unless in the past couple of years radio did a 180° turn which I doubt. most things on there aren’t for people that like music in my opinion. Does not mean it a drum machine takes no talent and it’s not an instrument I mean who is the boss of what’s instrument, Anyways I feel like I’ve had this conversation too many times with my uncle! A good melody is a good melody some guys will play an MPC live it’s a whole thing. not necessarily to be pooh-poohed because it’s newer and people get mad when all songs become a Black Eyed Peas jingle every other song is a remake of a classic. Some I really talented piano players say as an example!… Yet they make beats on MPC‘s or am MIDI keyboards and drum machines! I don’t see how because some are corny and annoying and you sometimes for a work situation or what not, have to hear the same songs all day long does not; make it some kind of lesser instrument or genre. But like I said it’s my opinion and my change in the future, I doubt this one will I keep an open mind though ..just my two cents! Speak of the devil! No pun intended my uncle used to play this song! Still he’s my godfather and I love him but he would get annoying when he would say things like what was real and what was not as if it wasn’t his opinion. like, a universal fact consensus from the board of musical referees..

@@SuperStrik9 Don Felder and Randy Meisner both had very acrimonious splits from the group a few years after Hotel California, which was a shame as they were both hugely talented. Eagles is a group of artists that put aside their egos for a while and made magic. Every Eagles song is epic. Then their egos got in the way and the broke up. We all cried. @@marieboyd521 as a died in the wool rocker thats harsh, but at the same time it seems much of radio and tv music media and especially shows love/embrace rap so it becomes more influential but rock also got bastardised in the same way. @kyliebaby1391
@kyliebaby1391 3 жыл бұрын
@@davymania700 I love rap and rock, I agree and miss the guitar solos you so rarely hear anymore and her comment was definitely harsh. Music is for mood, we can all love a song or songs from every genre without being put in a box, wasn’t that exactly what rock taught us? Rap is just the new rock, in as much as an angry generation saying what they think. Nothing that comes close to pink Floyd but still the idea is the same, “be different, stand up and tell it like it is.”
@davymania700
@davymania700 3 жыл бұрын
@@kyliebaby1391 @Kylie Baby Yes. It really felt like circa later 90s early 2000s the guitar solo was getting phased out to make heavy rock have more mainstream appeal. Didn't agree with it myself. Like yourself I decide what I listen and like, always have always will. I have written a dissertation on the subject. DrDre and later Eminem (even at the starting times of nu-metal) was already gaining appreciation amongst sectors of the rock audience . Aerosmith ,Def Leppard and even Queen prior to that (we will rock you ) in mainstream had toyed with it. Rage Against the Machine were one who melded them to perfection in my opinion before nu metal. I totally agree with you on the pigeon holing. I loved my melodic rock , but then I like acts a million miles from that too...if I like it, I like it. In my mind Eminem in a stylistic sense at times was doing what Alice Cooper had done on stage and in a self effacing fashion whilst upsetting some conservatism parenting

@@davymania700 wow that was such a great reply I can’t add to it. Again I agree with you. I’m not a massive fan of heavy rock but there are some songs I’ll happily listen to. I think jojo is doing such a great job bringing music from previous generations to new generations and the way he interprets it 9/10 is pretty close to how the artist meant it. I bet your dissertation was really interesting. I have to say the linkin park, my chemical romance, soad, etc era was great for rock music but on reflection you’re absolutely right that’s also the time the solos were being phased out. I’d hadn’t even realised. It’s great to get an interesting intelligent reply. Thank you.

7 Bridges Road......right down the street from my house! It is an ode to Woodley Road, a rural two-lane road which runs south off East Fairview Avenue - the southern boundary of the Cloverdale neighborhood of Montgomery, Alabama - at Cloverdale Road, and which features seven bridges: three pairs of bridges, and the seventh approximately 1 mile south by itself. The song's composer Steve Young, would recall he and his friends (Steve Young quote:) "used to go out to Woodley Road carousing around". "I wound up writing this song that I never dreamed anybody would even relate to, or understand, or get. And I still don't understand why it was so successful, actually". "I don't know [exactly] what [the] song means", "Consciously... I [just] wrote...a song about a girl and a road in south Alabama", "But I think on another level the song has something kind of cosmic...Steve Young never met the Eagles, but loves the money they made him!

It is about addiction, but not just to drugs. It's addiction to a lifestyle. It's no mistake that this is on the same album as "Life in the Fast Lane"...both songs hit the same concept from different angles. To be clear, that lifestyle can include drugs, but it's really about being so addicted to being hip and cool and on the cutting edge that you forget about why you want to be that way in the first place...until your whole life is, like the other song says, going to "all the right parties" and having "all the right friends". Go ahead and add in, "taking all the right drugs" as well. And, you know, "She got lots of pretty, pretty boys...that she calls friends". It's about having the pretty boys instead of having real friends...that whole trip.
