I live in northeast Texas, I mainly hunt Ark and Texas, but one year I hunted Oklahoma on some public land and I’ve never seen so many big bucks in my life. I’m 42 and only taken a few big bucks my PB is 156” with a rifle and 123” with my bow. 123” was my first bow buck.

I will personally take any advice I can get. In Northeast Arkansas and it can certainly be slim pickins. A lot of what y’all are talking about resonates. Small private parcels where competition is. Not very big bucks but I’m encouraged to shoot what I can get. I’m 30 and started hunting just a couple of years ago. I did get my first buck with my bow/ first bow kill last year. Took me 4 years to release that arrow. Y’all’s advice helped a lot. Will gladly take all of the advice I can get.

You are only as good as the place you hunt sometimes. It helps having a well fed target rich environment.

I got 120 acres in north central Mississippi. For the last 20 + years have always killed what i considered good deer 100" was big to me ..over the last 8 years ive trained myself to let those deer walk..in 6 years time its been 137 inc 10 point 140" 8 point and a 106 " 6 point killed . Between myself and 2 neighbors we collectively have about 1200 acres that only 5 to 6 people hunt . Management and habitat are key for sure . We shooting for 160s in the mext year or so

I guarantee you the majority of hunters to day are harvesting nice size whitetail bucks. I don’t know of any local hunters who have not taken at least one pope and young class whitetail. Too much emphasis is being put on antler size. the equipment today trail cams and mapping apps have made bow hunting easy. If anyone in the U.S. is not killing nice bucks it is because they don’t hunt very often or they don’t care to trophy hunt. KZfaq is over run with self proclaimed experts like yourselves. It will be detrimental to the hunting in the long run.
