She's like Marilyn Monroe, death makes people over estimate what she'd have been. Brandy was the biggest artist at that time, had the vocals and even a bigger acting career. Where is she now?? Longevity is very rare and comes only by grace. We don't know if she'd have become like Missy, Lauryn Hill, Ciara, Kelis, Amerie, Monica, Brandy, Blue Cantrell and all our other faves who couldn't succeed at same levels forever.
@guitar_roker35903 жыл бұрын
@@jakestroll6518 I love Brandy and she is incredibly talented but by the time the new millennium rolled in, her career was fading. Brandy was mostly more successful than Aaliyah in the 90s, but after Brandy had success with Never Say Never, her career was slowly going down into the 2000s. Aaliyah was the complete opposite, Try Again became a massive hit in 2000 and Aaliyah was becoming huge in the early 2000s, while Brandy was fading. After Aaliyah's death, Brandy and Monica faded. Aaliyah was going to rule the 2000s, as much as I love Brandy and Monica, there's no doubt Aaliyah would have had longevity. Her music revolutionized R&B and influenced pretty much all of the artists you mentioned. The legendary Janet Jackson also loved Aaliyah, and the two were planning to collaborate right before her passing. That song alone would have dominated and obliterated everything in it's path once it came out. Whitney Houston also loved Aaliyah and praised her voice. She was special, One in a million, she definitely would have dominated the 2000s.
