I’ve always thought Fuhad is cold hearted but this cemented that for me. It is a huge ick when a man can’t take responsibility and accountability for their actions. Legit the first time I have ever sensed/felt that kind of tension between any of them throughout the entirety of SnG podcast. You know, I disagreed with James on that one. As an avid cooking competition watcher, home cook/baker, recipe tester, I’ve noticed that Black chefs (and other PoC chefs) lean on the flavors they grew up on (usually Caribbean or African). The problem is, “fine dining” and the training that a lot of chefs receive at the CIA or Le Cordon Blue (for example), is HEAVY on “classic” European cooking techniques. So much so that the food we grew up eating, a cooking style that we’ve mastered, isn’t considered good enough because it’s not French cooking techniques. Why is that the standard? Why is formal training that centers (white) European techniques the norm??

It’s not about testing how well you can cook your go-to cuisine. & it’s not just Black chefs who struggle in that show with that adaptability and skills issue. To be a MASTER chef, they want to know that you can cook many different cuisines, using a wide array of ingredients, using many cooking methods, etc.
