Why Buy a Stabila Level? Because, it's the one tool you don't go cheap on!! If you have ever asked yourself as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, DIYer, what is so special about Stabila, and why would I spend that much on a straight edge with a bubble...Maybe you should watch the video. Your level is one tool you don't go cheap on!
It was extremely difficult to show the exact process due to their desire to not show off the exact process or machines used. I think after watching this you can get the point.
Yes, Stabila paid for my ticket to fly over and take a tour of their plant. This by no means indicates my feelings towards them. You can go way back and know I have always loved my yellow levels. I was taught from a young age that they were the benchmark, and knew I always had to have them! Now I know the method behind that madness. It's a simple equation..Do you want the best tool to ensure you are as precise as possible?
Looking for the video I referenced in the middle of my video?
Here you go! It shows a little better the process I was referring too.
• Long-term precision fr...

If wondering wether or not I am promoting Stabila....Heck yes I am! They are the best level, and even though I always thought that before...after seeing the process, I now KNOW it. I gladly stand behind the brand because it embodies everything I stand behind...not compromising, always innovating, and being the best possible even if it costs more, or takes longer!!

I made the mistake of getting a "home brand" level of a DIY store and it went out so quickly. Tried to install a kitchen with it and it was a nightmare. I replaced it with a small and long Stabila and they are still perfect. I absolutely agree with you.

@DefinitelyNotDan well I am austrian originally and one of the issues is the labor price for all the stone work that would looks nice on those buildings. In Austria cheap landlords have the stone work removed when it should be renovated, makes the whole building look like it comes from an ex communist country. But fewer and fewer people know how to work stone...prices go up.

Hands down the BEST levels I have ever owned ! I have 5 . Drove over one once with a scissor lift ( oops ) bent it about 5 or 7 degrees at the center bubble . Amazingly it didn't break the bubbles vial and even MORE amazingly , I stood on it to straighten it out and afterwards it's been spot on for 17 years plus ! No I'm not getting paid for the post but can't stress enough My belief that they are the best choice on the market !

I worked a Saturday for a Stabila 72” type 87 back in 1998. Still have it today. The accuracy is still spot on. The vials are clear but the bright green is mostly gone. Still not bad for 25 years. It’s been dropped off roofs, banged around in beds of trucks,fallen over hundreds of times. It’s a survivor. Just bought a 24”

Pretty impressive - I must say, though I'm not really surprised the way you seem. They're serious business, and have been for decades... I would say a trip to Sweden could probably be equally impressive, maybe not in numbers, but definitely in quality. Hultafors is no joke either. Far from it. Antistatic vials that will stay fluid and keep the bubble together from -20°C to +50°C - the more you're willing to invest, the flatter the curve in the vials. Precision stuff! Have a look at the Libella 2000 or the MST 180 for some really serious stuff.
@pasqualeparente9776
@pasqualeparente9776 4 жыл бұрын
Just like someone else mentioned below, I would also like to know "Why the manufactures do not decrease the space between the lines and the bubble"? It is only easier to check for level if you don't have to waste as much time trying to visualize if the spacing is equal.
@johnny6071
@johnny6071 2 жыл бұрын
Totally guessing here, but people use levels for slope to so I imagine when the bubble is touching one line and not the other it means it's a certain angle. So you need a bit of space to gauge it in that scenario. Totally guessing though.

Stabila is a great level, and I've had mine for more than 15 year. They are extremely durable and can last forever, but there is one big problem that needs to be fixed, which will make them god. The lines that separate the eye in the meedle are to far apart, which take a lot of time to hit it dead centre. I am an installer and for me accuracy and speed is of great importance, and if Stabila looks at how Sola's eye is made, with such a small a margin between the eye and the lines, and implement that ratio in their level, Stabila will become THE best level on the market..! You were there, so please share this with them if possible. Cheers from Bulgaria.

Accuracy aside. My local tool shop had a bent 6ft stabile laying in the warranty return pile. Was clear the guy used it as a baseball bat but wanted a free one. It was so old they had to call Germany to look up in there old records from the companies original owners to see if it was even there’s. My friend is buyer for oldest hardware store in Oregon we build thing an he was always talking stabila levels so I got the set of three. This is what I've found to dislike about the famous yellow levels. I have several levels that horizontal bubble just touches the black level index marks! But stabila level's bubble sits in center of black index marks but there is a space between the bubble on each side of the bubble an mark. That makes me have to center for level by eye, not by the bubbles touching inside both index marks! Thanks, Tim

If I were you and this is something you encounter quite often, I'd get an aluminum straight edge and a shorter high precision level, so you can put/tape it on the end, where you need it. Done it several times. The Hultafors Libella2000 is very suitable for this, although it might not be widely available in your neck of the woods. It should be possible to find another brand though. As mentioned in the video, setting of the vial is essential, as well as the radius on the inside of the vial - the shallower and more accurate the radius, the more accurate the level will be.
