I fully agree..no one (NO ONE) is allowed to open my vitrines where I keep my models...the can admire them thru the windows...but no touch :))

ive got quite a small collection of 1/64 model cars from time micro, kyosho, INNO, FuelMe and ignition and one time, i was out of the house and my aunt came over with my little cousin which is 7yr. She knew i didnt let anybody touch the cars yet she just decides to hand him an RWB Fuelme porsche that is around 50 to 60 bucks thinking i wouldnt notice if he just played with it for a bit, funny enough he drops it. Wing came off, and body all scratched and a wheel bent. She put it back like nothing happened, I come home with them there and i go to check them all and I see that one, i confront her and at first she denies it and after 20 mins she admits it and hands me a 5 dollar bill to replace it. I tell her that isnt enough and she starts arguing, then I show her the prices for them and she says "Its not my fault you spend so much on those" and me being me, i say "its not my fault you feel entitled to touch my things" and she storms off 2 days later my uncle, her husband, forces her to pay me 65 dollars as he also has a few and knows their worth. Moral of the story, there is display cars, and toy cars, know the difference and keep ur hands off peoples stuff.

I remember showing my manager a few of my mini gt and inno64 models and she said "boys and their toys". Even when I showed her the side of the box that says "this product is a collector's model and not a toy", she still thought of it as a toy.lol. I think its just something only a few will understand.

For each scale I collect I buy one “sacrificial lamb” car, usually Either a cheap no name/hotwheels that’s either already damaged or just an undesirable model. Family members feel so entitled to them because they think (wrongly) they are just toys. I still haven’t spent over £80 on a 1:18 scale for this very reason. I would advise anyone that has family with kids to buy a dirt cheap model for them to play with that you don’t care about, like a used maisto that’s already missing a wing mirror or something. Also lockable cabinets are your ultimate endgame I feel for this.

My son got a hold of my Mini GT Pandem A90 Supra. I took it out the packaging and set it down on the table. My son grab it and dropped it. The plastic spoiler broke off. He knows the rules for my collectables. Rubber wheels don’t get played with, plastic wheels be very gentle.

I started investing in locking display carousels when i found the neighbor's kids seeing how high they could throw a few of my open display cars from the garage. The look on the parents faces when i told them the replacement cost 👀

I'm a 14 year old collecter, I've been colleting for around 3 years now, and my little cousin have broken a few of my models but atleast he only breaks my cheap ones and not my expensive ones, but I have a 1/18 car that I got back in daycare that I let him play with and currently trying to make it look nice again.

My family fortunately knows the worth of my cars and they are extremely supportive of my boundaries with them. They never allow guests with children in the room where my cars are kept and always tell anyone entering my room to never touch my cars if I am not home. Even though I tell them it's okay to hand the child one of my hotwheels mainlines they never do:)

My 4 yo son keeps his hands away from my collection because I give him hot wheels to play with. Thankfully he understands that mine aren't for playing.
